Cyclist essential skills - How to install tight Continental Terra Speed Tire on the DT Swiss GR 1600

  • Installing tire or tube is a most important technical skills required by all cyclists. Don't wait for cyclist assist you during emergency, you have to responsible your own bike. If you are lucky, passing by cyclist will stop by to help you, else you need to do yourself.
    In this video, we choose the hard / tight tire to fit on so that you can train your hand strength to fix the flat. Here are the steps:
    Step 1 : Prepare the new tires
    Step 2 : Fully unfold the tire & make it properly shaped
    Step 3 : Check tire orientation rotation.
    Step 4 : Install the first bead of the tire on the rim (just one side first)
    Step 5 : Inflate some air into inner tube
    Step 6 : Putting valve head into valve hole
    Step 7 : Keep all the tube fit inside the tire
    Step 8 : Fit in another side of bead.
    (We used to fit in from valve first than opposite to avoid damage the tube)
    Step 9 : Double check the tube fully sit inside the tire
    Step 10 : Prepare tire lever to do final bead closure
    Step 11 : Inflate 20% of recommended air pressure to make sure tire bead fully sit on the rim
    Step 12 : Inflate recommended pressure.
    In the end of video, we do some bonus to guide you how to install the cassette & rotor. As the wheels need to be installed on new bike.

    I have the opportunity to buy a GR1600 wheelset with N3W (Campagnolo 13v) system. Is it possible to convert it for a Shimano Micro Spline 12v with the DT Swiss Rotor Kit MTB Shimano Micro Spline? I'm thinking of mounting the new Shimano GRX 12 speed with a Shimano XT 10-51 cassette.

    I have these wheels coming. What if I have a 10 sp/Tiagra cassette? Any different steps parts needed?

      No worry, just need a thin spacer before install the 10s cassette. DT Swiss might include that spacer else just get the bike shop install it. Thanks
