    Awesome video. Thank you for not injecting craziness into it, I.e. obnoxious music, unreasonable antics, etc. well done! 👏👏👏🎣

    You got me fired up since our ice toad window is quickly approaching. The number one lesson we’ve learned with the early shallow cruisers is to sit down and sit still, particularly when lacking any snow cover. If possible, don’t wear traction devices around your main fishing area. Stealth pays dividends when fishing shallow.

    Thanks for the tips man! Got out for the first time this season and slammed the perch and caught a few LMB. Nothing of good size but still fun. Hoping to hit sacheen in WA this weekend and catch some brook trout. Would love to see some content of that if you’re ever out this way. Ever come over to Idaho and fish?

      Not often and with this year's snows I doubt I will.

      @@spiltmilt Understandable! Shaping out to be a hell of a winter, will make for some great spring fishing and hopefully a late fire season.

      Yes should be plenty of moisture in the vegetation thru early summer. Have a good ice season!

  • @wubbalubbadubx2

    Wow biggest rainbow ever Tyler! I have two questions: was that a blob fly on the Jawjacker contraption? Also is that a spring bobber or part of the rod you are jigging with? I haven't found a spring bobber I like yet. Cheers man

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes blob fly on the hook setter. The spring bobber is a titanium spring bobber tied directly into the rod blank.

    Thanks for the video Tyler. We're still a month away from hardwater Trout here. Would these principles hold true for Browns (fishing shallow early season) or no because they tend to be more piscivorous? What was that contraption you used to catch the first fish on the dead stick? I hope Sidra is doing well.

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they absolutely apply to Browns, more so than Rainbows IMO. The contraption is an Alaska Salmon Bear Fish Trap aksalmonbear.com/ not sure if they are still in business.

    • @glpf5
      @glpf5 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spiltmilt Thank you for the information Tyler, they are still in business but sadly appear to find victim to the supply chain issues so prevalent these days, they’re sold out of everything and they’re not sure when they’ll have more. Too bad I was really hoping to pick one of those up to try the season.

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They've been saying that for two years now. After two years you are effectively out of business and no longer have having supply chain issues.

      @@spiltmilt Sadly the $65 price tag may have scared some people away. I was intrigued by the product as it allowed the rod itself to not have to sit under load for, potentially, long periods of time.
