    I’m glad I got into LEGO Star Wars during the early 2010s. So many great sets were released during this time.

      I really wasn't into LEGO Star Wars until I got back into Star Wars during the summer of 2002. I still regret not getting those early sets because I was finicky.

    Note: The P2 Reg Clone Trooper can also be found in the advent calendar with young Boba. It was never inventoried as such because you have to open 2 days to complete him. His helmet is in another "day" while he's in another wearing santa's hat.

    2014 doesn’t get enough love that was the year that I got back in the Lego Star Wars personally because that year we got a lot of fantastic sets like the imperial star destroyer the ATAT B wing, Mos Eisley cantina Jedi, scout fighter the police gunship the anti-vehicle cannon, and the already mentioned rebels sets and a bunch of other great prequel sets of 2014 really was the end of the golden age of Lego Star Wars, then it sure as hell went out with a great bang

    I totally agree that this was the golden age!! I always wanted Lego Star Wars as a child, but could never afford it. Now that I have more money, my interest in the theme is not what it used to be, since the new ranges don't appeal to me like the older ones do.

    Holly. I was regularly going to Hong Kong during these early years. The prices then were unbelievable. I remember that walking AT AT for £40 and the battle packs were £6. Then the AT ST came and that was £11 there and £20 in the UK.

  • @flyingbeagle6371
    @flyingbeagle6371 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Oh boy I do have some nostalgia for this era. The 2008 stormtrooper battle pack was the first Lego set I ever got (I was 8 at the time). Out of the sets mentioned I had the Endor Bunker, Wampa cave, Jabba’s Palace, Palpatine’s Arrest and the Rancor Pit . One of the last Lego sets I got before I entered my dark age was the Mos Eisley Cantina from 2014 and then I stopped later that year. I guess with the golden era ending that year too it was the right time to jump off before I came back years later in 2020 (where I just managed to pick up the Death Star a week before it left store shelves after 12 years of longing). I gravitated to the sets with the cool figures like the wampa, Jabba and the Rancor as a kid and I’m glad I did because they’re such cool parts of my collection now.

    Great presentation! The part where it said they "reserve the right to file a hate-crime complaint" blows my mind.
    Hagia Sophia was an Orthodox church until the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople in 1453, then a mosque until 1935, then a museum and then from 2020 a mosque again, as well as being a Roman Catholic cathedral for some decades after the Fourth Crusade of 1204.
    So the moslims took over that building from a different religion and turned it into a mosque, and later it was a museum, and then turned back into a mosque. For them to then have the audacity to say because Jabba's Palace looks similar to a building that they took over from a different religion by force, that it should no longer be sold, is insane. How can you take over a building from a different religion by force and then claim years later that a fictional building that may look somewhat similar to it is now a hate crime? This is why it is so important to just completely ignore cult leaders. The moment you give them any kind of credence or listen to them they will bully you. We need to completely ignore their insanity and shame them. I mean, labeling Lego Jabba's Palace as a hate crime is absurd!

      At first I wasn't sure what to think about your comment, but the more I thought about it, you're right. When they are saying that that Lego set (which I own and is awesome) is hate speech, well then they are insane. So I did a little bit of research just on Wikipedia and on the internet, and you're right, the muslims stole that building. Also, they produce more terrorists than all other religions and groups combined! I also read they can "marry" girls as young as 8! 🤢🤮 So, I've decided these are not people we should be listening to. We can't let insane (and evil) people run the world (or ruin our LEGO sets).

    Couple of things to note... 2014 was also a lot more Revenge of the Sith focussed, just like how 2013 was more Attack of the Clones. 2014 was also the year that the sets started to change... Spring-loaded shooters and stud-shooters were introduced. At the time, they seemed bulky and gimmicky, especially with some of their poor placement (ie the speeder from Battle on Saleucami) but they did eventually become more integrated and hidden in the builds. If I remember correctly, there were also exciting sets like the AT-AT and Star Destroyer, as well as the smaller ROTS-themed sets.
    Also at the time, the Rebels sets sold poorly. The Ghost would just sit on shelves gathering dust, as the show wasn't that popular when it started.

    Really great summary of LEGO SW. I remember I started seriously collecting LEGO at around 2009, mainly SW (and LotR, while it lasted), so it was a nice nostalgic story.
    The only thing that truuly deserved to be here and I didn't see was Rogue Shadow, the ship from SW: The Force Unleashed game (7672 from 2008). It was worth mentioning because it was probably the first LEGO SW set based off a video game (I think). Such a gem from an amazing game and it is never going to be released again.

  • @rrcortez8561

    I think you misunderstand the significance of the Battle Packs and Microfighter series.
    The mini_builds are not "affordable", they are a work around. Kenner/ Hasbro has an exclusive action figure contract with Lucas Films.
    This prevents Lego from "selling" the action figure/ single minifigure.
    Lego therfore made simple (forgettable) builds to go with the minifigure. There were usually 4 minifigure that sold for $5 each in the package for $20. The LEGO parts were basically free. To do 1 minifigure the Microfighter was created with a decent small build for just barely over the $5 minifigure prices, that of course has gotten much more pricey... but you get the point.
    Nice overview of the golden age of Lego!😊

    I'm glad they're finally going back to midiscale sets. I think they just came out too early. If they made them in the mid-2010s or later, people would've loved them. Back when they came out, Lego fans were mainly kids or adult collectors with a lot of money to spend. Adult collectors that wanted to spend less didn't really become a thing until the 2010s IMO
    Hope we get a part 3 to this

    Much like Hasbro will never make a Slave Leia figure again for either their Black Series (6 inch) line or Vintage collection (3 3/4 inch) line, Lego won't make another Slave Leia mini figure. Also, you missed a great Lego Star Wars set from 2008, the Rogue Shadow from the Force Unleashed games. That set was the only time we got Lego mini figures of Galen Marek aka Starkiller (Vader's secret apprentice) and Juno Eclipse. It also had a battle damaged Darth Vader. That set goes for a lot of money now.

    I'm actually thinking about selling off all my LEGO Star Wars stuff. If the Ahsoka show doesn't SLAP I'm probably taking the off ramp. Disney burnt me out on Marvel and they are burning me out on Star Wars. But with Star Wars, a lot of the shows/movies they have put out have not been good. Andor was great, but I still couldn't finish the show because it felt like nothing was at stake since we knew the outcome. I dunno.... A lot of shows/movies are being pumped out and most of it has been pretty mid. It's ruined it for me. They've messed up the legacy of cool characters like Vader, Luke, and Boba Fett. And they have also created a bunch of issues within the lore.

  • @TheRealFeechLaManna
    @TheRealFeechLaManna ปีที่แล้ว

    When I was a kid, Star Wars was beyond cool (the original trilogy came out back then). I then remember almost 30 years later, when Clone Wars first aired, my oldest kid was 7 or 8 and it was decidedly targeting his age group, it was 100% a kid show and he loved it, and we played the original LEGO Star Wars game on some early Playstation, forgetting which it was.. Now, I have another son that is 9 and a daughter at 12, and I can't even make them watch or play with any kind of Star Wars whatsoever, they have zero interest. Star Wars has no appeal for kids anymore, not sure why, but the brand survives on 20+ people's nostalgia alone.

    I'm still curious about the number of Clone troopers during the Clone Wars. If a thousand Acclamators were ordered by the Republic, each with a total of 16,000 Clones on board, then that equals 16 million Clones. I think that number is way too high, unless troop losses were heavy, so perhaps by the end of the Clone Wars there were only 6 to 8 million Clones available. It is possible that within the first year of The Clone Wars that each Acclamator-class assault ship only carried 5,000 Clone troopers and the rest were distributed amongst smaller vessels. Why is this even an issue? I have no idea.

    • @rrcortez8561
      @rrcortez8561 ปีที่แล้ว

      There were probably far more clones than you estimate. With battles taking place on hundreds of plants and occupation of thousands.... many troops were needed.
