- The people who run Voodoo Authentica Cultural Center and Collection, a small shop in the French Quarter, were raised Catholic and say they still are. Voodoo practice deepens their faith rather than detracts from it, they say. For them, the two belief systems are intertwined.

Dutch and English?? Whaaaaatt. You live in New Orleans and you don't even know the history of its culture? Louisiana was a Catholic colony that changed hands between the French and the Spanish several times. It also attracted large numbers of other Catholic Europeans, such as the Italians and the Irish. Then you had African slaves, free Creoles of color, and Native Americans. All of these groups interacted and formed Creole culture. Modern voodoo evolved from Roman Catholicism, which was forced upon the slaves, and blended with their Sub-Saharan African religion. African deities soon took on traits of Catholic saints, and vice versa.

You can only use the terms Mambo or Hougan if you are initiated in Haitian Vodou. The problem is that New Orleans voodoo practitioners are appropriating Haitian Vodou practices and mixing it with theirs creating more confusion.
These terms are also recognized in 21 Divisions (Dominican Vodou) and Sanse (Puerto Rican Vodou) I think
they aren't appropriating it. that's an ignorant way of saying you don't know history. yes, I agree that you must be initiated to be titled, but they aren't "appropriating" anything. creole culture are always going to have some cross-references. part of it is that "voodoo" is a term that white colonialists applied to their practices. at one point, voodoo was the name applied to anything black people did. you could be practicing ifa, or black pentecostalism and it would've been called "voodoo". But I agree, you aren't titled unless you are initiated but she never specifically states.

Voodoo is a closed practice
The point of Christianity is redemption through the atoning sacrifice of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Serve him only and hold onto that doctrine. Anything else and you are serving the other side. In the Bible it talks about spiritual harlotry. You can only serve one master.
It’s not about worshipping other spirits, rather revering and venerating.

I come from a family of four boys. Mom and dad are gone. We are all old men. I am son number 2. Number 3 had a debilitating stroke. I found number three after three days unable to move soaked in his own urine. Brother number 3 inherited the family estate in full. Brother number 1 wants it all......NOW........brother number 4 thinks he deserves everything. Brother number 3 is paralyzed on his left side. Me, number 2 feel none of us deserve anything except number 3 for taking care of mom for so long.
I want to see number 3 back on his feet and healthy first......OR.....number 1 and number 4 stopped from hurting number 3. I do not want any part of this estate. Can voodoo help my brother number 3? Does he or I have any options?
