    Can I just say that although I totally agree that touching parts of the guitar can be a give away, actually playing a guitar without touching anything is REALLY difficult! Your brain is just hard wired to adjust tubers, volume, pickups etc - it's totally weird trying not to do it, even though you know you shouldn't!!

    • @valtin7568
      @valtin7568 9 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      adjust tubers? Is this the new eco-friendly potato based tuners? Or do they have turnip based pots in them? :)

      Hi, Lee. I know this is off topic but would you guys consider doing a multi fx pedal shootout?
      While there are demos of these pedals out there, the same pedal can sound great on one vid and not so great on another (dependant on the uploader I guess). It would be great to see them head to head. This is in no way related to the fact that I'm in the market for one lol.
      G5 (I already have one, See? I'm not completely selfish), GT 100, Tonelab, Mustang Floor, RP1000, HD500X

      Get a Carvin CT6C and drop it next to that $5,000 PRS....I'd like that shootout to see what you guys think. Although I know they're a direct seller...it'd be interesting to see what you guys think of one compared to the PRS' you guys love.

    I think Rob is right about Lee. He has too much knowledge. A fun idea would be to perhaps get both Rob and Rabea, who are both exceptional guitar players, to do the blindfold challenges and get Lee to pickout the guitars and be the judge. I'm sure he could throw something really sneaky into the mix.

    So this video pretty much proves that you can't go wrong with a PRS, even the cheap ones are amazing.

    • @BAMozzy69
      @BAMozzy69 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The 'cheap' ones are great for the money. The US PRS though is better - not just tonally but also from a quality perspective. Frets won't wear as quickly, nut is superior quality, bridge is machined rather than cast from a mould, electrics are higher quality etc. You can argue about the number of pieces in a neck or body - whether using Scarf joints for the headstock makes any real difference but overall, the quality of the parts and materials, the curing of the wood before its turned into an instrument etc is part of what makes a US PRS more expensive...
      That being said, the imports are great for the money and definitely not 1/3rd of the guitar for a 1/3rd of the price. Its great for those that can't afford or justify spending that much on a Guitar but still want a PRS. My cores are exceptionally high quality and finely crafted instruments but I could live with an SE....

    • @misterroberts344
      @misterroberts344 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @archie baldwin S2 series are American PRS with Korean electronics so it's considered American made. There are huge differences between an S2 and SE even with the exact same electronics. An S2 is for someone who wants a Core but is on an SE budget.

    • @misterroberts344
      @misterroberts344 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @archie baldwin yeah my mistake I group hardware and electronics together but I know they're vastly different. Currently S2 is still my favorite line of affordably expensive guitars.

    • @douglhorvath
      @douglhorvath 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BAMozzy69 but hardware can be changed. Specially if you are not american and don't live in the USA, the SE range with a change of hardware for, por example, Gotoh parts, can make an hell of a instrument for yet a fraction of a USA made PRS. And the pickups on the SE range are great, nothing to lose to the USA made ones, have tested both of them.

    • @BAMozzy69
      @BAMozzy69 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@douglhorvath You can swap out the electronics, tuners, nut, bridge, pick-ups and the Electronics and it still won't be as good as a core PRS.
      The fundamental backbone of the instrument is still different and important.
      Not saying the SE range and Pups are bad by any stretch the imagination and are very good for the price, as I said. They are made FOR PRS not BY PRS to sell 'cheap' and even if you strip it down, spend another the same again on replacing all the hardware, its still just an SE and worth used SE money. By the time you have done that, could have bought a used Core.
      I actually OWN & Play PRS guitars (one of mine is my Avatar) and I know how great the SE's are for the money. They certainly are not '25% the guitar for 25% the money' and I highly recommend them IF that's where your budget lies, but a core is on another level entirely...

  • @SHEMAMAN
    @SHEMAMAN 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I've had the USA and Indonesia made Prs.
    The quality is far superior in the Yankee machines but the tone of the far eastern guitars is astonishing.
    Their new standard se range is pocket money rocking insurance and would amuse and keep happy any professional as well as the beginner it is primarily aimed at.

  • @patdavidmusic

    Too much cheating going on! Checking out the five way blades and carved tops! Maybe next time no pickup changing, purely feel and sound. Otherwise great stuff guys, so entertaining and fun :)

  • @Lemmysfinger
    @Lemmysfinger 9 ปีที่แล้ว +38

    Guys. My only problem with these videos is that you don't guess what they are just from the way the play and sound. You feel the guitars body/features and use those things to help you guess. This makes it much easier to guess if you know the construction and features of different ranges. Play the guitars. No groping 😄

    Seems like Rob loves these for a reason. I started with the PRS CE in 2000. After it was stolen, I tried everything to replace it, hoping to get optimum tone/playability/looks/ergonomics, etc. Having gone full circle with Gibsons, Fenders, Ibanez, Charvels, etc.. I keep coming back to PRS. I have a Custom 22, and it really is the best.

    I have to agree with Chappers and say the first one. I have recently tried several at varying levels, the top end is unbelievable but for the money it should be. I walked out with the SE std for £399 in silver ( the first one) as it played and sounded best. It really did feel right as soon as I tried it and simply more comfortable to play and seemed to have an edge on sound.

I can't believe the deal I got considering it's a $950 guitar. I was ready to check out on a trans-black ML1 too :( but no worries, the natural ML-1 or perhaps in the future a H-H configuration ML-1 if you decide to make a standard run with dual buckers. I still must have one!

    You guys should do this with some interesting, non-standard strats. Maybe a Deluxe players, a particular signature, stuff like that
