I have always thought flips and folds were a bit of a fad and that they would quickly hit peak demand for their niche market. I tried them and found them to be pointless, but I get some people prefer form over function, so there will always be some buyers. But I suspect away from the hardcore supporters, most that try them will return to candy bar phones as the de facto mature smartphone.
I have shared your opinion, but ever since I tried them, I actually can see their usefulness, and in contrast to every "normal" smartphone, it is a "fresh" experience. But let's see how much market share they will gain.
