I grew up in Dade City, went to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, behind Price Park. The original building, now incorporated into the extensive enlargement of the church, was originally built at Lake Pasadena and was rolled into it's current location on logs, pulled by mules. The Locke family owned all of the land around it, the Spencers and Porters were part of the family which were members of St. Mary's. All of the original founders of St. Mary's were Scottish Immigrants. You should all make note of the Catholic colonies of San Antonio, St. Joseph and St. Leo. That area was the largest rural Roman Catholic enclave in the South outside of Louisiana. Dade City is dripping in history, but also poverty, which is why the cost of living is so low. The surrounding area is one of the most beautiful in the state. Enjoy.

The Dade City area for the most part is "high and dry" you do have some areas that may require flood insurance. When you get closer to the coast like New Port Richey, Hudson, Spring Hill you would need to more concerned about flooding in those low line areas. Thanks for reaching out.

Because of all the new construction we have a major flooding issue
