Another great video 👏🏼😊 glad you’re enjoying that small town life - over all the craziness of CDMX😊 we’re sooo looking forward to moving to that city of Mexico, but for now living through your vlogs🙌🏼 Saludos🙋🏻♀️😃
Good on you young lady, I love your infectious smile and exuberance. The expat life is so appealing to me, and you’re helping to fire it. I’m currently investigating Mexico and the Philippines. They both have tremendous lure. 😊❤️
Is Janice Bailey still operating her rental casitas off las Tunas just a bit north of Todos Santos town center? She's great and had a huge organic garden along side of her healing center, 2 story straw bale house with a baby grand piano. I believe it is about 1/8 mile from the ocean too. I hope she's doing well and I wish I could visit. ( Envying you walking into those stable desert biomes. ) Even those 3 ft tall cacti are over 90 yrs old & the really tall ones have whole living communities long established around them. Beautiful. Thx
Fisherman's Beach. Our little part of paradise is 30 min north up Camino la Playitas where we usually Winter in our off-grid truck camper. This year we are in a rental in Cabo. Enjoy and maybe will see see in town. Christian and Tracey 💜💚
If you enjoy birdwatching, you might want to go to San Blas, Nayarit. I stayed there for a month for extensive birding, decades ago. Lots of mosquitoes, so never go during rainy season. But in winter/dry season, it's wonderful there. I went during April, and it was Holy Week and Easter, an added bonus.
We have a funky casa under contract just outside of TS-we’re just waiting for it to close. This video made me SO GLAD we decided to leave CO for the border. We’ve loved MX for many decades and have been very frequent visitors; we also had a sailboat in the SEA for several decades. Thank you so much for this! I’ll be back! (Ps too bad the poodle photo-bombed the shot by the old building LOL-it was bombs away for sure! I love your blog.
Follow the missions path.300 hundred year missions that go up to Sam Francisco California. They were founded by the first Spanish missionaries, by father Serra. They are ruins but awesome.
We popped into Todos Santos a couple of years back and we want to back. Did not get a chance to explore the way you are. I am enjoying sharing what you are finding. Thanks
Try to meet the owners of the Casablanca B&B- Isabel and Gabriel. Fantastic people that i think you will get along with. Gabriel was an architect in Mexico City and after raising their children they decided to start a new life by running a B&B and cooking school in Todos Santos. Isabel is an amazing cook and a lovely person. Their place is in La Poza area of Todos Santos. Tell them Alessandro and Ellina sent you lol.
Hi Laura, LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos. Would love to have a video from you recommending different places to live in Baja or mainland Mexico for different ages, lifestyles, budgets and interests - a comparison video. Great work. Keep it up :)
Enjoying your videos but, just for the record, there are plenty of swimmable beaches here. In fact, we have more certified Blue Flag beaches than any other place in Latin America. Not just swimmable, but great snorkeling, surfing, super-clean and warm water.
They’re just not in Todos Santos, that’s the only problem 🤷♀️ We’ll be renting a car soon and then we’ll explore lots more of the region and those beaches 👍
Yes the ocean in TS is rough this time of year. I live in San Jose del Cabo and swim year-round, although the water is cooler this time of year. This morning it's windy and not very beachy. I hope you catch some good weather when you have your car. Don't miss Playas Palmilla, Santa Maria and Chileno. Also the beach at Pedregal is beautiful but dangerous to swim. It's a gated community but just tell the guards you're going to the beach, which is public.
I am using an iPhone 12 Pro in 1080 HD. Was thinking of trying out the 4K mode but am worried my internet can’t handle the upload size at the moment haha
Yup ! you found it. I have an amigo that rents fat tire ebikes you can ride that trail AND then ride along the water. It is really great relaxing fun. Lemme know if u want his contact info/
Yeah, different Todos Santos. The big wave spot is an island off Ensenada. But, this area and around here gets good waves too, but not the same place as what you are thinking the big wave spot is. Scorpion Bay isn't too far ... good luck!
I would like to live here for a little while but not for too long. Where are your trees? Me gustaría vivir ahí por un rato, pero no por tanto tiempo. ¿Dónde son los árboles?
Hi Nice trail walk today. Just at the end you showed the sign warning about snakes, I was going ask about that. Also what about wild pickering and coyotes. I have stayed at a couple of places along the sea of Cortez. Punta San Francisco to and Las Cruces. Fished at both of them. Fresh Dorado for dinner one night. Love the climate and area. Thanks for sharing.
I love your videos! I really hope to go visit Todos soon! Do you have any plans to come over to La Paz anytime soon? Would be really fun to get together. I've been here for almost one year!
Just came across your videos. Thanks for your insight at these locations. In your time in Todos Santos, what was healthcare like? If you had to go to emergency? Or a regular doctor visit. Best places to exchange your money, banking? I’m curious about these topics since Baja California is a place I’d like to possibly retire. Todos Santos and La Paz is a couple of place I’d be interested in. I’ve also been looking at San Jose del Cabo. Thanks for your video. I really enjoyed them.
I know we can live in mexico for 6 months every year, but what if we want to stay permanently? Can we go to another country or back to the US and then come back or do we have to wait 6 months?
You don't have to wait six months, you can simply come back in after a short trip away. However, if you plan to stay permanently you'd be better off getting residency which isn't very difficult to get. You can speak to your local Mexican consulate/embassy to see if you meet the requirements. That way you can open a bank account and pay bills that way, you can get a driver's license and buy a car, etc.
I understand that the blue whale 🐳 migrate to places like San Ignacio Lagoon in central Baja to give birth to their babies. And local fisherman there are permitted to take out visitors in their small boats to interact with whales and new babies. Apparently Feb-March is prime time. Any chance you can visit then and take us along in a video?
Waves are strong and there are undertows and riptides. Todos Santos is famous for world class surfing. Some beaches in this area are calmer than others and some people are stronger swimmers than others. On the east side of Baja (Sea of Cortez) it’s much calmer and the swimming is a lot easier.
On the main beach I really wouldn’t. Whales come super close to shore which I would say means there’s a huge drop off and a huge rip. Maybe you can dip your toes in?
Depends what you like - merida is a great city, close(ish) to beaches, has lots of character and history and incredible food. Easy access to the riviera maya, an airport that is well connected to Mexico City and other parts of the country. The Yucatán is packed with adventure, but for about 4 months of the year it is an absolute inferno there. Hot and humid to an almost unbearable level (at least for me). La Paz perhaps doesn’t have as much character and history but the peninsula is packed with outdoor aventure activities - surfing, hiking, kiteboarding, biking, climbing, camping etc and the climate is much much drier than merida so even when it’s hot it’s not oppressive like it is in merida. Hope that helps a little bit!
Hi Laura, Always love your videos! I have an obvious question but I am going to ask you anyway. So how do you pick the places you want to visit or live? I am interested in Mexico and have been there a few times. But it's such a big country. Do you Google where you want to go? I appreciate your thoughts. Thank you 😀🐠🐟🌺🌵
It’s easy to make decisions when you know they’re temporary. We picked Baja because we’ve never been here for a long period of time before and I’ve always heard how beautiful it is. I knew we wanted to be somewhere that was warm, near the beach, and had some nice hiking to do and todos Santos ticked all of those boxes.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! I’m planning on living in La Paz or in Todos Santos. Could you imagine to live in one of these places for ever? Which place would you choose and why? Could Todos Santos be too small after while? Sorry for millions of questions. Cause of corona I can only manage to come this year.... It would be awesome to hear your opinion as you have been there for a while, you seem to be pretty open minded and you are also not Mexican. Thank you in advance!! Take care xx
@@josecasillas7649 yes, on the left side of the video over her right shoulder, if it's not a plateau it might be a covered pyramid 🤯 if so, they should name it after you.
I probably wouldn’t hike by myself just out of preference - I wouldn’t enjoy it as much. But there were a few people hiking on their own while we were on that trail and on another one this weekend. A woman I went hiking with this weekend said she goes just her and her dog all the time.
It’s not bad. There are some cafes that I have gone to to work and it’s really rapid there. I can upload a 10 minute video in about 2 minutes, which is faster than the internet that I had in Mexico City. Cell service is excellent.
Laura, I’m so enjoying your vlog and find them interesting. You have a different take and are informative. You also have a lovely accent when speaking Spanish. I noticed in this video you pronounced some Spanish words as if you don’t know Spanish pronunciation. Why? I encourage you to continue to set a great example for all the gringo snow birds and emigres who haven’t yet learned Spanish. ¡Ándale!
Haha Todos Santos is definitely no secret, it’s a beautiful place but with how difficult it is to get around without a car, I imagine it will stay small for a long time to come.
If you have a car here you can pretty easily get to the more swimmable beaches, it’s just the shoreline that is closest to the town that you can’t swim in.
It’s too cold for the snakes right now but we did find a scorpion in our kitchen the other day. I used to see the occasional scorpion in Mexico City too. They were here first 🤷♀️
Mexico has the most beautiful places on earth.
I couldn’t agree more ❤️❤️

Summer is tough in most Mexican beach towns, it’s actually nicer here than in most, a lot less humid than say the Yucatán or the Jalisco coast 👍
