    Onion OS is a huge difference maker. When I got my Mini Plus, the sd card was garbage, so I got mysef a 128 GB Samsung SD card, and once I installed Onion and slapped on my own roms, it was smooth sailing. Changing the themes periodically is a surprisingly fun aspect of using Onion OS. They even have a Tech Dweeb theme 😂

      Ikr! Onion OS is a night and day difference. The one thing I don’t like is how the quick save slots automatically rotate. Other than that it’s perfect

      What do you mean by putting your own roms on it

    • @hartomethod
      @hartomethod  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Once you swap the sd card you have to add roms on it. Instead of using the roms that came on the original sd card.

      @@hartomethodthis video helped me greatly. I’m setting this up for my boy as a Christmas present. I want it all ready to go when he opens it on Xmas day. Right now I’m coming over the ROMs and trying to remove all the numbers I’ve done 30 now, and there has to be an easier way than clicking on each file. Please let me know if you have any tips or tricks for that. Thanks.

    Hey thanks for the video! I also have a MAC book and haven't seen many videos online describing how to reformat the SD card using the disc utility. Would you mind elaborating a little more on how to properly reformat the new SD card? Thank you so much for any help you can provide!

    Great Video that got straight to the point! On a slightly unrelated point, would you rather get a MSI Katana 15.6" Laptop - 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12650H - GeForce RTX 4060 or a ASUS - TUF Gaming A16 16" 165Hz Gaming Laptop FHD-AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS Radeon RX7600S?

      I honestly think they’re pretty even when it comes to gaming. The only plus I’d give to the RTX is DLSS. Are they similarly priced?

      @axelfury9045 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@hartomethod Yea its like a 150 difference in price but that isn't that much of an issue. I'm prob gonna go with the RTX due to the extended warranty as well.

    Hello, is it possible to setting different button mapping? I need swap yellow and red button (down button as a confirm and right button backward - like on XBOX). I need it in games and also on system menu. I have problem to do it with stock software. Could transfer to OnionOS help ?

    • @hartomethod
      @hartomethod  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On onionOS you can remap the controls via each emulator (through retroarch). The onionOS GitHub has directions. But I don’t think there’s a way to remap the menu and system buttons differently

  • @robertdaone

    So do the rom folders for the emulators contain the bios after installing Onion OS?

    • @hartomethod
      @hartomethod  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No you’ll have to put your own bios files in the BIOS folder on the root of the sd card

    The device comes with Super Mario 64 installed by default? I installed Onion as soon as I got my device but now I don’t see any Super Mario 64

    • @hartomethod
      @hartomethod  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah it comes in the original sd card. You can either put the same port on your new onion os sd card OR go to the onion OS GitHub and download their port of Mario 64

  • @Nerdexotic
    @Nerdexotic หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    For some reason I have tried this like 6 times and every time Onion OS does not install do you think it could be because i am trying to use the SD that came with it? because now i can not seem to get the games to come up on the original software at all.

    Where do you paste the roms from the old sd card?

    • @hartomethod

      Each system or “core” should have its own rom folder for you to paste it into

      @@hartomethod i copied the whole sd card files as original from the miyoo mini. I have the v4.2.3 onion. All i need is to put the games. But the i cannot find the BIOS folder on the original miyoo.
      I dont know if i just paste the roms from the appropriate folders on the miyoo (FC, SFC etc) into the folders selected during onion start up and it will play or i need to search for bios. This is complicated and i dont want to brick my miyoo. I already lost all my snes and nes games when trying to rename “FC” to NES and had to download roms. Im kind of intimidated at this step

    • @hartomethod
      @hartomethod  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All good. Don’t rename anything that onion OS names. You’d just drop the roms into the correct folder like I said. Once it’s in there you’ll have to refresh the game page when you’re on the miyoo mini (i think its the select button). For the bios you drop that into the bios folder on the root of your sd card (cartridge based games don't need a bios, usually just ps1). No need to search for bios. Also take a look at the retrogamecorp website I put in the description, that should help.

      @@hartomethod for anyone looking for a solution. I cleared my SD card and redownloaded them from Tiny Best Set. All the tiles have the numbers removed. From there just use a scrapper to get all the artwork. Saved myself 40 hours of painstakingly renaming 1,000s of files.
