camera seems completely unrealistic, lets be real here. it behaves like a camera. when you sit down in the car you see much more than what you see here. Idk why people call the footage realistic, when you sit in the car, you do not actually sit 2 meters away from the steering wheel. Shocking i know.

The replication of Hong Kong’s tropical, slightly misty sunlight and the greenery of this mountain road is spot-on.
I used to go to school on this road as a kid. For that reason alone I might get a new PC just for this game. I wish the developers best of luck as this will probably be the first geographically accurate game to feature Hong Kong roads.

IMO there's a MASSIVE hole in the market for something aimed not just at gamers, but at drivers.
The idea is this. A big publisher bundles a wheel and pedal setup with the game itself. It's not possible to play it on anything but wheel and pedal setup, but they make a loss on the wheel and pedal setup by making it as cheap as possible. Something like a guitar hero bundle.
The game itself is a selection of, say, forty of the world's coolest cars, all lavished over, with working interiors, down to the software in the cars and all the little cool things that are available to the person who owns it. That means making a vastly more interactive version of a car model than has been in any game before, but that's why the car numbers would be fewer than most games. And the idea is they work with the manufacturers so they can describe the game as a kind of virtual test drive. The player gets to spec the car as they would in real life. The car's real life test drivers help tune the in-game car. So every car can be described in PR bumph as 1:1 accurate without too much Pinnochio nose stretching. It'd be pretty close to the truth.
Then the game comes equipped with a set of the world's coolest driving roads, all photogrammetised(?). Amalfi Coast, Laurel Canyon, French riviera, Colorado rockies, etc. All of them incredibly high fidelity and visually opulent. It's always baffled me that something like Euro Truck Driver exists but not with anything interesting to drive, so it's obviously possible.
Then those shitty publishers, the people we unfortunately have to rely on for a proper AAA project like this, get to make their money from the DLC. Because they market the game at gamers, yes, but they also market the game in Top Gear magazine and GQ and Esquire and the Times, etc. And they aim it at people who can drive. Once those kind of people are attracted to the game the expectation of how much they player is willing to spend on DLC rises sharply. And given the work that goes into a single car they can charge pretty much anything. £20 for a Bugatti Chiron, with a working interior and modeled, really modeled, on the real thing? Suddenly that doesn't sound that much. They can do the same with famous driving road DLC.
It sounds grotesquely financially grasping, but that's because no AAA project is ever going to exist without publisher input, and tey're all bastards.
And the best thing about it is that, weirdly given that it's a game that can only be played on wheel and pedal, it's actually less intimidating to most drivers than a controller setup would be. You can aim it at drivers and tell them 'you don't need to have ever played a game' to enjoy it.
I admit it's ambitious, and there are...let's say some...kinks...that need to be ironed out. And by 'kinks' I mean 'giant flaws'. But something like this should already exist and the gaming industry is fucking stupid for not having done it already.

Finally a game where the developers make you feel the exhaust pops. Many games get this wrong and soften these sick sounds to a point that they do no longer appear to imitate a gun fire. But this would actually be much more accurate and realistic. So good effort so far! Maybe they could reduce the echo in cockpit view and take that sound more to the far/outside/replay view.
I will definetly keep watching this project. Looks promising.

If you see bugs and stuff, here is a thing to consider. This is a game built by 4 people only. There is not a big development team behind it. So please excuse all those bugs and technical issues. As far as how a 4-man team able to build a life like environment like this, well, the truth is, it was all done by one person. The person obtained the geo point data from the government and then importing them into the game. That does not mean extensive editing was not involved. I wish TH-cam still has the transcript function so I can translate the full interview.
