AWD? 1989 Toyota Corolla GT-S (AE92) with 1989 Toyota Corolla All-Trac Wagon (AE95) Drivetrain

While walking through the halls of SEMA, there were many cars that were caught my attention. This Corolla was one that I happened to see the owner and had a chance to interview and ask him about the car. The AE92 is a rare car to see, on top of the already rare drivetrain from an all-trac Tercel!

My 91 GTS has a 3sgte swap FWD makes around 380hp..

Massive respects for the builder! I was going to do something similar with my AE86 Coupe and use a mid 80s Tercel 5door wagon all trac powertrain as a donor. The engine is vertical mount and uses sr5 corolla rear end to make it easier to swap.
Edit: It wouldn't be All-trac in a traditional sense. it would basically be a FWD AE86 with part time 4x4. Another option was permanently set 4x4 and run locking wheel hubs in the front to retain the RWD characteristic.

Might need to chop up the frame wells to make the front axles fit! Yea this build was well thought out!

Holy shit. Driveshaft lined right up to the muffler “tunnel”.
That diff is probably the fanciest 6.7”(?) in existence. Must have kept the alltrac diff trans and rear itself too. Drum brakes just seem so weird but it’s period correct!

The Alltrac rear end is essentially built like an AE86 SR5 rear end (drum brake only), but it was available from the donor car he used. I wonder if he wanted to spend extra money, if the AE86 GT-S (stronger, with disc brakes) rear end would have been a doable mod.
