    Just got a 91 LSC with 67k miles not too long ago. Was gonna do an oil change later. This video came across my feed, and I thought I figured this stuff out already. However, i would have never turned off the air compressor before jacking it up before watching this. Thanks for saving my ass!

    The grille is hinged to make room for the 5 mph bumper. You don't have to remove the antenna. Just lower it. It has a motor for that. The reason you tun off the air suspension is so that the compressor doesn't run and burn up. Good video. Welcome to Mark VII ownership.

    Thanks for the vid, I own a beautiful 89 LSC, this is great for introducing more people to this car. However you did omit the Throttle Valve Cable Bushing at the throttle body. Cable runs from throttle body to transmission, the original plastic ones can break, cable disconnects and you can fry a transmission. Can be replaced with a brass one for cheap. Very important.

    We had one of these in the family, it was an 84 Standard Mark VII that was special ordered with all the LSC bits except for the body trim (interior, suspension, etc..) and also had the Towing Package which was pretty rare (included a full size spare tire and larger oil cooler, Heavy Duty Battery and a few other goodies) I had it as my car in high school.. The only thing I ever did was lower it by 1.5" (ridiculously EAZY to do with the air suspension, Just had to adjust the Ride limiter sensors (the rear one needed a little bit of modification but the fronts were able to be set without modification) and it looked great and actually felt like it rode nicer.. We ended up selling it around 94/95 to our Neighbor and then when they moved it was gone.. Kinda miss the car but it is probably dead now.. May have been the ONLY Hybrid Regular/LSC in existence (84 didn't have a Bill Class level trim) but you never know as back then if you knew the dealer well you could do stuff like that.. My dad sat down with the production code book and specified every little thing he wanted.

    That's a sweet ride, and my favorite Lincoln body style -- The 5.0 sounds strong, and there's a plenty of speed/performancew goodies available to make for a killer build. I really like the White-on-White colors of your bad-ass LSC.
    I would suggest some 2.5-inch, slant-cut, stainless-steel exhaust-pipe tips on there for a classy dress-up.
    My only Lincoln was a '74 Town Coupe, with a 460 cu.in. mill that was bored .040 over (468 ccu.in.), with roller cam, roller rockers, roller timing set, 750 Holley, Carter Electric Fuel Pump, sparks by Performance Distributor, ported intake and exhaust manifolds, 2.5-inch dual exhaust (Glasspax) , KYB Gas-pressurized shocks all around , Urethane sway-bar bushings.
    Got 13.2 mpgs on a trip from Phoenix to the Good Guys Car Show in Salem, Oregon.
    I know you know your shit, Mr. Random, but that LSC doesn't look ANYTHING like a Mustang.
    But hey, keep up the good work !!

    I always loved the Bill Blass designer series over the LSC. The Bill Blass interiors were so much more beautifully designed with their pillow look and more luxurious trimmings. Not to mention they are so much more rare now which makes them extra special.

    Original owner of an ’86 LSC with 76045 original miles. Has spent most of the last 35 years with it’s car cover on and used occasionally. Had a message that the ABS was out about 20 years ago. Problem was the ABS brake accumulator. These are still available online from various sources. Ford Part # E8OY-2C231-B (Before 1987) and E8OY-2C231-A (From 1987) These are filled with a nitrogen gas and the internal rubber bladder can fail. Replaced mine and no further problems. Note: the air suspension only levels when the doors are closed and automatically shuts down about 30 minutes after you leave the vehicle.

    • @postmodernrecycler
      @postmodernrecycler 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That brake accumulator is key. I've replaced them twice on mine over the years. The Teves ABS was a big reason a lot of these cars got junked unfortunately.

  • @keenanmeyers3935
    @keenanmeyers3935 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hopefully your ABS system last a long time. Mine went out at around 200k and before that it leaked brake fluid all the time. This was because an o-ring failed on the pressure sensor. I tried to fix it many times after someone else's multiple failed attempts. Back in 2011 I found 1 supplier of the ABS master assembly, but before core return it was around $2500. I converted to 1980s SVO mustang master, and booster, swapped to cobra front brakes (Napa sells the fittings to adapt the Mark's metric lines to the mustangs standard system), and now has 290k and I run much nicer FR500 wheels. Also, do yourself a favor and convert your air suspension to springs, handles better, and the ride is still nice with pretty much no problems. If you want even better handling in the BB Mark, find some sway bars from a retired LSC, or the aftermarket mustang front will fit, but not the rear. By the way I have a 1992 LSC daily driver, 1990 LSC SE project car, and a 1997 Mark VIII LSC, and with all their quirks they are fun, comfortable, addicting cars to drive. The Mark VIII is a better performance car out of the box, but the Mark VII is a slightly better looking car.

    • @DocHelliday
      @DocHelliday 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How hard was the conversion? I think mine are about to go out. I randomly get the amber and red brake lights

    • @keenanmeyers3935
      @keenanmeyers3935 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DocHelliday It's not too bad. Shop around though. I have a feeling with the current economic situation the prices are higher and parts probably a little harder to get. If you don't want to cut and flare the lines, Napa should still offer the adapter fittings for the brake lines. The adapters were in the Balkamp catalog. The original lines are metric bubble flare, and the master is standard inverted flare. I used some premade short lines from the master to an adjustable summit prop block, and converted some more short lines from the block to the car lines. My car now has 343k on it, I drive it every day, and has since been converted to a manual trans. Now I get around 22mpg, brakes are still working flawlessly, and even in the rain, I've never locked up a tire running 275/40/17 on 17x9 wheels

    What about putting the code in to unlock the trunk? If you put that car on a rack that lifts it up and the wheel hangs down with the air suspension on it will let the air out of the air springs and then when you set it down your screwd. I bought mine and it had been converted to coil springs and I put the air suspension back on it and holy shit the air suspension is 100 times better that coil springs it's like night and day. I recommend the air suspension how it was meant to be from the factory any day,I still cant believe how good those cars ride how their meant to be from the factory air ride is the way to go.

      @@derriklee287 They did. 1984, 85, they offered a BMW turbo diesel, with an auto or 5 speed from the factory. The option dropped because the V8 was much more desirable. Then they offered a version called the GTC built by Roush. It had a 351 with a five speed.

    I'm looking at an Mark 7 LSC for a daily driver that can haul down the track too. Does anybody any advise for me? I'd like to stay naturally aspirated. I am posting this comment before watching the video.

      There's a pretty good community on thelincolnmarkvii forum. There's forums for everything on the car and a forum for modifying as well. You should check out a t5 conversion :)

      Get rid of the 3.27 gears and go for more. Some guys go 4.11 but that seems a little insane. However, easily the most popular upgrade for this car.. next would the be the T5 transmission swap altogether. Not sure if shift kitting this auto is worth it... plus the torque converter is way to soggy. Subframe connectors are also very necessary on this stretched pony body.
