My friend John Nordlum was Tom Selleck's stand in on Magnum. John Nordlum can be seen in this video clip. My friend John Nordlum passed away this year 2018. John Nordlum was such a great kind hospitable person. We met on the set of Magnum Pi. We had our picture taken together on the Magnum Pi episode "I Do". We were on Kahala Beach where Magnum Pi was filming. This experience of being on the set of Magnum Pi was amazing. I took many pictures on the set. Tom Selleck even took the time to pose for me. Some of the pictures that I took made it in different publications including Larry Manetti's website for being "On The Set". I received no photo credit for any of my pictures except for a fan club magazine for Tom Selleck. Thank You for posting this behind the scenes video of Magnum Pi. God Bless, Victor John Fleener

Hi, Thank you for your story, and for appreciating my clip. :-)
I was stationed in Hawaii in 82. I went to a convenience store in uniform. I was sitting outside the store drinking a Mt. Dew. Tom Selleck walks into the store. I nodded as he entered, on his way out he handed me another Dew and said thanks for my service. We talked about football for about 10 minutes and then he left.
I was there that day also! They filmed them pulling up probably a dozen times. After they got all the shots with the van they set up and filmed the stunt crash. In the video Tom started to come over to the crowd but gets called back. He in fact did get some free time and came over to greet some of the fans.
That's a lot of crew for a shot, no wonder production costs are high, but this great show has recouped it many times over. I still watch it daily and also the reboot, Hawaii, Ferraris and mystery!
Very nice! Thanks for this. I feel like Magnum fans really need more content celebrating this iconic show since sadly we never got the reunion we all wanted. With John Hillerman's passing and CBS picking up the reboot over the proposed sequel series It's been a tough time for Magnum fans but stuff like this are a great pick me up :).
This is great stuff! Funny with the Norwegian commentaries. And good quality video too. Magnum PI is among my favorite TV-shows, the original series, that is.
What a gem, thanks for uploading, I wish there were more behind the scenes clips available from the 70s and 80s tv series and especially from Magnum, P.I.!
Great upload. Can't be much footage from the early 80's of Magnum on set. Interesting to see how much work and manpower it takes to shoot a scene that ultimately, only lasts for seconds onscreen. Along with The Saint and The Persuaders, Magnum PI is one of my favourite series. The intro music alone always puts a smile on my face. Again, thanks for sharing the footage.
Hey , good night, everyone ! Thanks a lot, mr Gronvold for posting it and sharing it among us, old fans from the 80's tv shows..! Great ! I did appreciate it ! Nice upload , pal ! Mr Sheldon, below is quite right..nowadays no so called stars, whatever, would ever walk out of the set, to greet their fans..! God bless you ! Hugs from Brazil west !
It's incredible, i?M Italian, i hava got a Ferrari, yesterday jjust arrived me a Parrot Print Red Hawaiian Shirt, i was cring for your Imola 1994 video, and now.....you was in front of Tom Selleck in 1983!!!I love Magnum PI series, I've got all episode of it..coincidences......Reall Thank you...Enrico

Thank you for appreciating both my videos. I am a Ferrari and Magnum, P.I. fan. PS. I also have some video from the Ferrari factory museum, and soon, some video from a Ferrari driving course at Mugello.
Great footage. Only a question. At 4:58 there's a red cone near the TC van while at 5:33 it not appears. So, i think this shoot is not the same using for the episode :)
At 3:40 the 3rd A.D is like telling me not to take pictures while they are filming, and I'm thinking why?? There's sound from other cars and activity in the area, so it couldn't be the snapping of their cameras, and it's not as if we had the internet back then to post photos and ruin the surprise. Also, nobody would be using a flash anyway during the day and with the film lighting, so it's funny to hear someone tell them not to take photos.
Very nice!! What´s that final swaying (kind of jumping from both Magnum and TC) at the end of the scene? I was 9 y.o. back then. How I wish I had the same luck as you to having been there... :)
I mean what a fuckin job to have... Selleck was killing it in the 80s. Just beaches women and tight shorts all day every day. Probably got paid for these episodes too. I cant imagine a better life.
Did I just witness the birth of how TH-camrs became in any way shape or form noteworthy?lol. In retrospect this woulda been top level Hollywood, youtube Stan, like TMZ level shit. 🤣😂🤮💯 OMG TOM SELLECK!!!!!!?! IS THAT A SUPRA?!?!?!!? 🤣😂🤮

This video is awesome. I've been a lifelong Magnum fan. Fave episode is: 'Did you see the sunrise?'
That was a fantastic episode.

Beutiful document❤️❤️ 80’s Forever
Thanks for posting! Pretty good quality considering it was 1983.
Thinking the same. Better quality than the DVD’s that I have of seasons 4-7 !!!
Greatest thing I have ever seen. Thank you so very much!
great clip, wish I had been there to see it, great cast
Great video, thank you very much for posting! I never saw a video showing the work on set before. Very cool! :-)
Tom seems like a great guy coming over and waving to his fans , you don’t see new Hollywood loving the ones who made them famous

Those are my exact favourite shows too.
That's great. Shows how much effort is put into each shot. Glad you were able to edit in the final shot.

That is awesome to see. I looks like filming a tv show is extremely boring lol. thanks for the footage.
A lot of work into a very small scene, and a lot of waiting yes...

V cool
Thomas, do you remember the date of your video? I see it was filmed in 1983, but do you remember day and month?
I do not remember the exact day, but it was late December close to Christmas.
4:45 someone gets “shushed”
Är det du själv som filmat? Hör en norsk stämma i bakgrunden :-)
Ja, det er mine foreldre og meg, jeg var 10 år da det ble filmet.
Härligt!
This is "filmed" by some Norwegians... (tourists) That much I can hear! Nice clip!
Yes, I am Norwegian. My dad filmed this, and I put it on TH-cam.
@ Sikkert moro å kune ha vært der! Hilsen fra Skien.
@@buss8009 det var det, og gøy å se den episoden på TV senere.
