This is stunningly beautifully crafted work of art! Mr. Paul. This looks way more better that what I have seen in stores on display. I love the craftmanship you have done.
Looks really nice. I’d love to make something like this eventually so it’s really cool to someone use such basic tools on a large build like this. Well done
what a gorgeous sword. I see so many fictional and fantasy swords in popular culture which so miss the mark in so many ways - it would be so much better if this beautiful yet practical sword would be emulated instead of what we see most often in movies/tv/video games
Wow. I started making knives a bit ago, and your videos are great for showing the process as done with very minimal tooling, less than what I have. Thanks for the great videos. Keep making them!
Materials were fairly cheap but it took an entire 4 months of daily work, because of lack of necessary power tools, but that made it even more worth it when I saw it finished.
This is really nice work!I've finished my first sword(Oakshott 14) last week.Still afraid to grind the bevel with my angle grinder.Any suggestions or tips?
I’m glad you like the sword and I did actually forge the steel because originally it was a curved leaf spring (as seen in thumbnail) and I forged it straight and thinner. I did not forge the tip or bevels nor did I show this because it was pretty redundant.
It took me the entire summer (3 months) of mostly everyday work about 2hours a day. Sol like around 300 hours and I used a leaf spring for steel or 5160.
Amazing build. So you used a metal cutting wheel on an angle grinder to grind in the initial fuller groove before scraping it out with a half round file. Between the cutting wheel and the file did you use a grinding wheel attachment to enlarge the fuller ?
Looks great. Can you tell me how and what tool you made the center grow with? And what kind of steel you used Please and thank you Regards Blacksmith farrier Daniel
You should label the video "Stock removal," NOT "forging!" It's a bit misleading. Still...awesome job with grinding. Looks great. Tip for your next build: Wait to harden and temper until it's a bit dark out, or it an out-door shed that provides shade, so you can see your colors a little better. Great job, keep it up!
I would say he did enough forging considering he cut the initial leafspring blade lengthwise and then forged his blade stock from that aswell as annraled and tempeted it..❗👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Well done young Man..( nw forge) i will allow you in my " Workshop " any day without any anxiety of potential mishaps..⁉️ Youve got one hell of a lot of potential & gutspa ❗🙇♂️
An incredible sword, great work! I'm trying to make one myself, and I have a question. What is the name of the tool you use to make the fuller of the sword? Thank you very much and greetings.
It’s just a scraper. If you have a large half round file you can use the very end best is to get tool steel round stock weld it onto a price of metal and use it like that
@@nwforge2333 i think he's asking how you attached the blade to that long board of wood before grinding the bevels down on your belt sander, and what angle the blade was at
I respect all the hard work and especially without having a 2x72 belt grinder. I’m not sure you really had the blade to the right temperature for the heat treat. It was day time so it’s harder to see but I don’t think the steel was even glowing red or orange. Otherwise congrats and nice work.
I appreciate it and on video the sword doesn’t look to be at the right temperature but the sword was non magnetic and more red irl, and it also passed the file test.
I have forged the metal stock down from the thick curdled spring to a more workable flat bar and did not include it in the video because it seemed boring. But I will in future videos, thanks for letting me know.
You know why it's called a fuller? Because blacksmiths used a "fullering" tool placed in the hardy hole on an anvil to create it. Even if you DID "forge" down that metal from a leaf spring (doubtful unless you also have some sort of metal planning device in that garage of yours) you're still destroying any benefits of said forging by completely grinding everything. This IS NOT a forged blade. Forged is hammer and anvil.....POTATOES....NO PO-TAH-TOES. Change the title of the clip to stock removal and just own it. No big deal. It is a great looking S.L.O., I will give you that. But I wouldn't claim that my chihuahua is an attack dog...she's a good guard dog...but she's got no damned teeth. Also, if you're going to be endangering yourself and others while swinging that...brush up on your western martial arts or practice some HEMA. You don't step into your swing like your swinging a baseball bat slugger.

Hi NW forge please making my sword medieval sharp
Where did you get the steel for this project?
This is stunningly beautifully crafted work of art! Mr. Paul. This looks way more better that what I have seen in stores on display. I love the craftmanship you have done.
Looks really nice. I’d love to make something like this eventually so it’s really cool to someone use such basic tools on a large build like this. Well done
Thank you I appreciate it and I hope you give knife making a try.
Fantastic templar sword brother
She's beautiful, man. Kudos. God bless you
Awesome from Thailand
I would love that sword
Great nice job! I love it! Beautiful!
Magnifique beau travail bien joué
what a gorgeous sword. I see so many fictional and fantasy swords in popular culture which so miss the mark in so many ways - it would be so much better if this beautiful yet practical sword would be emulated instead of what we see most often in movies/tv/video games
Thank you and I agree that the historical sword designs are refreshing to see.
Wow amaizing Mr Boss
Beauty full knife
the sword you made looks really cool and badass! good job bro it must take a lot of effort and days to complete something like that! looks cool!
Thank you and the sword took me around 3 months to make.
Great work you can be really proud of what you have achieved. Was there another video that showed how you got the bend out of the spring steel?
Nice!
Dope AF results, @nwforge2333! Now it needs an equally dope scabbard to complete the package!
Swords are definitely my favorite weapon
(In games that it)😏
Woow like that sword best
Thanks
Impressive
Thank you
I love Templar
I find the Templar a interesting history.
Sounds like darth vader is lurking in your shop somewhere.
He drops by whenever I have to grid something and use my mask. :)
What the actual heck? This is amazing. How did you get so good at what you do?
Thank you, I tried my best on this sword and I learned to make knifes and swords by watching these type of videos and a lot of practice.
Wow. I started making knives a bit ago, and your videos are great for showing the process as done with very minimal tooling, less than what I have. Thanks for the great videos. Keep making them!
Years of practice. Of course.
Wow super tare frate 😮
Man I feel bad for u such a young fella with great skills and only has 900 and more.u deserve more
who else watches foreging videos at 3am when bored
Cool.
nice
do you have tips i want to start making better videos
My tip is to just make something you like don’t follow a trend or someone’s ideas just do your style.
@@nwforge2333 thank you
Foarte frumoasa, bravo!
This is amazing, good job, just maybe you can cover the handle with leather but it also looks very good
Very nice work. I'd be proud to display that on my wall. 👍
Thank you, I’m glad you like it. I do have it displayed on my wall and it looks amazing, it’s worth the work.
What is the name of the tool that you used to scrape into the fuller?
Молодец! Прекрасная работа, это талант, который дает Бог...
Que hermosa espada me encantan saludos desde Colombia
How did you take out the hole of your car leaf spring?
I bought this leaf spring from a sale.
@@nwforge2333 but in the picture of the thumbnail the leaf spring has a hole in the middle did you weld that hole or forge it to take it out
I cut the thick leaf prong in half length wise and forged it down thin and wide
Ok thanks
@@nwforge2333
Bravo..❗👍🏻
Well done..❗🤔🙇♂️
Superb price🗡💰

What material was used to produce the red cross on the pommel and finger guard highlights?
It turned out great but it did make me cry because it wasn't forged and the hardening didn't seem hot enough.
What is the tool you used to dig the fullers? Outstanding work
Already sold?
What type of steel is it and if you went to a shop what would you say to the staff please
Not really forging but still very impressive. Well done!
Очень нравяться такие видео спасибо интересно.
Material details?
Qual é o tamanho da lâmina fora o cabo responder
What tool and paint did you use for make the guard symbols?
I used a dremel to carve the guard and pommel.
Ok thanks
Where do you get your steel?
Dood, what was the thing you used to make the fuller? I'd love one of these :D
Holy Byzantinum💪💪 jindabad🥰🙏🙏🙏💪
Шикарно! Лайк!
Very nicely done! What tool did you use for making the fuller? Thanks
Interesting video, thank you for sharing. What did you use to gouge out the fuller by hand, looked like a modified file?
This is really nice work!I've finished my first sword(Oakshott 14) last week.Still afraid to grind the bevel with my angle grinder.Any suggestions or tips?
Hey, Bella Gladius💫!
Glorie cavalerilor 😮
you didnt forge anything, beautiful blade but to be frank its not forged its made big difference. nonetheless great job
I’m glad you like the sword and I did actually forge the steel because originally it was a curved leaf spring (as seen in thumbnail) and I forged it straight and thinner. I did not forge the tip or bevels nor did I show this because it was pretty redundant.

How did you do the tempering? I saw the quench, but interesting in how you tempered it back. Looks a bit long to fit in an oven, but maybe it can.
I used a propane torch to temper it
India m available h kya
What tool did you use for the fuller?
I used a half round file to rough the fuller then a dremel to finish it.
@nwforge2333 thank you
Where did you get or how did you make that large graver for the fuller?
Price
What kind of chisel did you use for the groove
I’m glad you asked I use a half round file that I cut a straight 90 degree edge on and attached it to a wood handle.
@@nwforge2333 thank you very much :)
Hello, its really nice work ... but how do you prevent it from rusting ?
don't get it wet and file it
Oil it
Congratulations, nice work, before giving water to the steel, the steel should be heated to orange color...
Now you need a scabbard for it, then maybe a shield!
You should label the video "Stock removal," NOT "forging!" It's a bit misleading. Still...awesome job with grinding. Looks great. Very nice my friend. But tell me what steel used (inox....), and what thickness?
It is springsteel from car/chariot leafspring, so something like 5160
@@giodavid991 thanks my friend.
What did you use to attach it to the wood before sander grinding, and what angle (if ) you shimmied it at? GOOD JOB!
Im not sure what you’re asking about but I burned in the handle and then apoxyed it on the sword.
@@nwforge2333 i think he's asking how you attached the blade to that long board of wood before grinding the bevels down on your belt sander, and what angle the blade was at
Ohh in that case I used some wire fence screws to just pinch the sword to the wood and cut the wood to about 4 degrees.
This dude wood wokring steel for the fuller
Sweet looking sword there. How did you temper it?
Use duct tape on the back of cheaper sandpaper it won’t tear and it’s easier to stay on the stick

Аккуратно и красиво!!!👍
Amateur question, is this called a certain type of sword making? Can you only cut out a sword really high quality steel?
I thought the title said “forging”?

Sword looks really cool, but you don't need word Forging in the title.
Deus vult!
that's the least springiest and least rustiest Rusted Steel SPRING i've ever seen
Well, there was no forging involved, so nothing historic, but it looks nice and can obviously cut water....
