    Gotta love the boxcar magnums...one of the best tractors ever built,and the thing that sold people on Caseih

    We used to have a 5220 , a 5130 and an 1896 case on our farm. They were all really good tractors. Nice to see these tractors still going. Unfortunately my 2 older brothers took over the farm and sunk the ship. I still have my own little tiny farm and use all old 50s to late 80s equipment except for my loader tractor which is a 2wd drive CaseIh 55a .

    There's not a doubt in my mind that those magnums were simply the best tractors to ever roll off the assembly line.

      The box car models are like the modern Farmall M. They are solid and just keep going Year after year.

    We used to have a NH 717 Supper with 9 knives. We ran it with an AC 180 and we had 2 IH chopper wagons, a 105 and a 110. We’d run wagons with a Case 930 Comfort King and fill silos with an AC 5050 running a 54” Kools blower. That was over 25 years ago when we stopped but I sure do miss it. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work!

    The 7100 series made CASE IH a legitimate tractor company. When these tractors came out it was very common in my area for farmers to buy a MFWD Magnum and use 2wd Deere’s for their rowcrop. In 93 I had a neighbor that hit a lick and he bot 2 brand new 7140s and 2 brand new 4455s in the same day. Red for doing the nasty and green for doing the dainty

    I had a 3588 2+2 pulling a Gehl 1075 chopper and H&S 16 ft twin auger boxes. One year I used a 7220 2WD to chop corn for a few days while waiting for parts for the 2+2. It had just a little more snot than the 3588. Retired 4 years ago and sold my equipment to my nephew. He is still using it on his 90 cow dairy farm.

    Wish I had never traded in my 7140. Had just over 12,000 hrs and was not once ever in the shop! It was the cheapest tractor ever ran on my farm. Paid for itself year after year. This new one always seems to have a sensor somewhere going bad.

    • @craigrudge4112
      @craigrudge4112 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Repeat sensor replacement is often a sign of a fault not being correctly identified to its route cause. Treating the symptom not the cause. But yes, sensors (speed, temp, NOx, pressure) don’t seem as robust as they should be.

    You can chop faster with the new hollands than with the deere choppers. Used to chop with a john deere 7810 with the deere chopper. Deere has a slow intake capacity compared to the fp240 and new Hollands throw into the wagon better.

      Another tractor to do an internet search for the the IH 5388 prototype replica. It is a 7100 series magnum rear with a four post ROPS bolted to an IH 5488 front end, just with a little trimming of the engine enclosure tin to make it fit. Otherwise, the story goes, the engine bolted right up to the transmission as well as the connections to all the gauges. There are also images out there of a Case International 5488 ( an IH 5488 with Case International decal and Magnum style cab. Search "Case International 5488 Prototype".)
