Buzz Rickson produce 90% of their products in-house much like the real McCoys. Ive met the brand director Kameya-san before and the guy is demented when it comes to repro, especially for their leather jackets. Back in the 90s they would burn fabrics, nylon, leathers, etc. Just to study how it was made. They turned 30 years old last year so have a wealth of knowledge in-house by now but also used spectrometry back in the day to understand fiber count and threads. They're owned by the parent company Toyo Enterprise who do the sugar cane (repro work wear mostly), Sun Surf (largest archive of Hawaiian shirts) and Tailor Toyo, the brand that makes Suka jackets. Because of their position in the market they have the funds to do things right and produce mostly in-house with some exceptions.

I know a lot of commenters are naming textile-based fashion. But an exposé on eyewear manufacturing would be BRILLIANT. Consumers are so duped by eyewear. I watched with great interest!
And as a Japanese, I am proud that my country has such an amazing factory. Thank you for introducing it to us!
One additional note: “seni” in “toki seni” is “sen - i” (the "i" is pronounced like the English "e") and means fiber.
I look forward to more videos from you!

LV in C/D tier is fucking wild. My mom has a classic Papillon bag that is canvas (not considered plastified leather - no one in the industry calls it this). She has used this bag every day for the past 30 years, and it still looks like new. The leather on the trims and piping of their canvas bags is also iconic. Maybe not A-tier being untreated leather, but the way it petinas is part of the fandom. Their actual leather bags are also fair quality, but it's met with A-tier service - warranty and repair.

This is just based on what I know but the majority of LV bags are poor quality, some are great, and vintage bags are far different than todays

Most (if not all) of TNF Purple Label outerwear is made in China. Really good quality for the price, too. I’ve proxied a bunch of pieces from Japan and they are perfect for harsh Canadian winters.

Would be great to hear about other fashion brands like The Row, Khaite, Maison Margiela, Acne Studios, Prada, YSL, Brunello Cucinelli, etc.
