So glad you have started remaking the 101 series. Some time back I put together a TH-cam playlist of fountain pen basics videos for newbies I’ve given pens to, and sent them the link so that they have something to refer to when I’m not around. My playlist draws very heavily from the original 101 series, plus a few others, so the new videos with their more polished production values are a very welcome update. Well done, and thank you. 👍

A great quality remake of the originals, thanks Brian. I remember a young Brian Goulet doing those originals. Yet it seems like yesterday.

Nice Pilot 74 Custom!! Ice to see this refresh of the series that led me to Goulet Pens for my first pen purchase.

I subscribed to Goulet Pens because, when I was new to the hobby, I looked online to get information, and this channel was where I got the best, most comprehensible, and most reliable advice. I swiftly became a Turkeyhammocker before the term was even invented 😄
This series is turning out to be much more than a refresh for the original series, but a more engaging, updated, and learning focussed approach, drawing on your increased personal knowledge of the subject, and experience of videography. 👍🏼👍🏼

As a fairly recent inductee, I watched all the original 101 videos, in last several months so the 12 year “time lapse” is very recent for me. Love the content and company.

Right. Memory aid: ‘Finial’ is related to the Middle English ‘final’ (says Webster’s).

Nobody has yet made a really detailed video about the function of the feed, although often i feel a need to do something to the feed, but i lack understanding. I mean very detailed: The materials, how the air moves, why it's too dry or wet and how to adjust.
Currently i have a feed that only works well if it's not pushed all the way in, but i don't want it that way as it's a bit flimsy and the nib is too far out too at least aeshtetically. I think i need to let more air in, but not sure how to accomplish that.

I have a Lamy Vista and a Dryden Design Classic. My Lamy keeps picking up fibers from a book I’m writing in. Will a syringe flush get rid of those fibers?

I have a question, if anyone knows the answer, I would appreciate your knowledge. How do you know when a converter needs replaced? The reason I ask is, I have many pens that have screw in converters, and two pens with push in converters. For some reason, the two push in converters wont suck ink up through the feed/nib anymore. These two pens are both very nice, high end, expensive pens. So I'm wondering if for some reason they aren't sealing anymore; but they don't leak. Kind of frustrated.

It's fun to see these remakes of the series. However I need to point out that under filling mechanisms (5:30), it is "vacuum" and not "vaccum. Oops!😁
