I bought the window kit from LMR and began installing it today in my '88. While the window adjusts were a help. The video left out all the hard stuff. I sprayed the rubber side and the window channel with soapy water which helped. Please ad more of the details into the videos.
you guys got this wrong. first remove the inside door handle (one screw) after you get the upper corner and rear part in go to the front and loosen the two bolts holding the front track in. DO NOT REMOVE BOTH BOLTS!!! remove only the top bolt. Then slide the weatherstripping down making sure it hangs right in front of the glass. You may have to wiggle the window around a little. After the weatherstrip is in place around the top frame, run the glass all the way up! be very careful and take your time , gently seat the glass in the new run keep the window all the way up when you install it in the front bracket. once the glass is up and out of the way, you cn now put your hand inside the big holes and use a paint stick to push it in. alternate the top bolt and bottom bolt but under no circumstances do you remove both!!! John Zito Ive done it on my 87 GT a few times already.,
There are minor differences between an 98 and 01 - one being control arms. You can reuse springs, shocks and struts; however, I would advise you to replace most of those parts with new ones when you can to avoid installing worn parts back onto your Stang.
I installed the new run channel. Installation was a pain since the old one was so dry it was stuck on there. Put the new one in and looks good, but the window rolls up slowly now, any ideas?
loosen the bolts that hold the front channel and the main guide bar tube . run the window up an down after squirting little WD-40. also you must lubricate the run tube, the main window gear and the pivot arm sli
Do you have a Convertible? ive owned just about every body style on these cars,on a Convertible you need the weatherstrip and 3 or 4 valiums (AT THE VERY LEAST,LOL), on hardtops is ok but on Verts is a bonafide nightmare specially because the weatherstrip that Ford originally used hasn't been available in years, when it comes to weatherstrip, the softer you can find it the better the install will go,the only advice i can give is that if someone has a Vert and they are wanting to you know, piddle around and do something for the old horse and the weatherstrip is still in good shape "leave it alone!!!!" please!!! you will be opening up the biggest can of worms you have ever opened in your life but mainly on Convertibles,do a heater core instead, much easier.
dntlss 😳😳😳wow!! No I don’t own the vert, THANK GOD! I did finally finish installing it & only did the passenger side. It’s rough but it felt good afterwards because I now know how to do it. I’ll probably do the drivers side soon. You’re absolutely correct in saying if isn’t broke, don’t fix it. Mine had to be done. Going through the Costco car wash wasn’t fun. lol!! Thanks for replying...👍🏼💯

having trouble, put a new one in no problem however the corner by the mirror is pinching the window so it wont go up, any tips? followed the video helped a lot
Why is it that my install I had to cut a large amount of the strip off to be able to fit it around the mirror and the weather strip on the door? I thought it was no modicfation needed.
Do you have a video on how to adjust the door glass so it seals against the convertible top weather stripping when I roll up my glass the window does not seal right I have to roll up the glass with the door open and then close the door thats the only way it will work?
I am having a similar problem as the rest, the window is being pinched near the mirror and not allowing it to roll up fully :( . Is there a solution to this problem??
I installed this as you say and now the window doesn't go all the way up. I've tried everything to seat the weather strip into the Chanel and replaced the window guide bushing. Nothing helps.
Other than missing a 1 inch section on the top part of the window frame my run channel weather stripping is in good shape. Would it be possible and make sense to purchase new run channels and just cutting a 1 inch section off and placing it on the window frame where I am missing the it? I am not concerned so much about spending the money just to use a little piece.
At that point, it would be the better idea to go ahead and replace all of the run channel weatherstripping on the car, instead of risk cutting and installing a smaller piece onto the car.
I’m having issues getting the strip to go into the metal channel and around the glass. I can’t get the window to go all the way back up, it is getting stuck when it gets close to the mirror.. any suggestions?
On my passenger side it took me forever for that part. For the metal bracket part, I had window rolled down took bolts out of the bracket put the felt around window then put the bracket back on. After few tries it worked in. If it keeps getting stuck its cause the felt isn't in the metal bracket right which pushes the glass out behind the bracket. Had top of my glass rub my door metal a few times doing this side. Also tried using a tool to push the felt in the bracket from inside the door.
No, these won't work on the T-Top. However, here's a link to all our T-Top weatherstripping: lmr.com/products/79-93-Mustang-T-Top-Sunroof-Weatherstrip-Components
I've installed the drive side but iy seems to be getting pinched by the side mirror. Has anyone found a solution. The window tilts forward and doesnt wanna go up anymore unless I push the window towards the back of the window frame and even then it starts to fight me from going up all the way...HELP PLEASE
Kyle, thank you for contacting us! Have you taken off the door panels yet and inspected the inner working of the door? Sounds like maybe some bad guide rod bushings.
@@latemodelrestoration I actually just got it to work today! Went back at it. Took the whole strip back off and this time used a Paintstick instead of some random tool I was using. I think the paintstick is the key lol. Thanks for the video & the likes on Instagram!
I know some of those spots are tuff to film but try. it doesn’t do much good when your saying loosen this, tighten that adjust something else when what your talking about is completely out of view.

Would have been nice to see how you start the weather stripping.

The parts you didn't show was the hard stuff lol but i was here for window adjustment
Yes Sir! Same style weatherstripping for 79-93!

Just want to say that it is much easy to do this install if you don't take the top bolt off the window run guide inside the door...
Eric Wardlaw good advice!
You need to do this series on a convertible.
I installed the new run channel. Installation was a pain since the old one was so dry it was stuck on there. Put the new one in and looks good, but the window rolls up slowly now, any ideas?

I have the same problem. The window binds and will not go all the way up. I've tried everything Jonh Zito said.
Try doing this on a
Fox you’ve had 30 years. 😳my fox is super clean for being 30 years. Restoring some things and mods too. This project isn’t easy

What specific suspension parts are you asking about?

Having same issue, did you ever figure out a solution?

How do the window adjustments relate to having a Foxbody convertible?
Do you have a video on how to adjust the door glass so it seals against the convertible top weather stripping when I roll up my glass the window does not seal right I have to roll up the glass with the door open and then close the door thats the only way it will work?

E Gibson good question! I had same issue. I had to push it in harder near the bottom of the mirror. It’ll conform better after a day or so.
