      Hi Eric. Thats great. The Starlet is an awesome car but very different to the Kiger. What you choose will depend on why you want a car. Compact SUV vs Sedan. Have you seen my Kiger video? I just got the Baleno and it’s very similar to the Starlet. I like the ride quality , i do wish the quality of the interior was better. Lots of hard plastic but considering the price and value it provides ,the Baleno and Starlet are a good purchase.

    Is the petrol efficiency different between an auto and manual?

    • @MotoringAndTechWorld
      @MotoringAndTechWorld  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Busisiwe. Yes a manual is generally more efficient than an auto. But efficiency also depends a lot on the driver. With manual you can change gears when you want to so if you change early and keep the revs lower it will be more fuel efficient. However, with manual if you stretch the gears a lot then it could be less efficient than an auto. But as a rule of thumb manuals are more fuel efficient if driven correctly. Are you in the market for a new car? Are you considering the Toyota Starlet?

      @@MotoringAndTechWorld First of all, I'd like to start by saying Nigeria is a Toyota country, by saying that you know what it means! You hardly see a Suzuki brand parading the roads here. Toyota starlet was very popular around the years 1990 to 1999, but now the newer models are not so popular.

    • @MotoringAndTechWorld
      @MotoringAndTechWorld  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@abdultajj4285 That is really interesting. What is more peculiar is that the newer models are not that popular in Nigeria. Wow. Do people in Nigeria just generally keep their cars for that much longer than South Africans? Or the newer models coming out there are not offering a value for money proposition. Here in South Africa the latest models are very popular. It's amazing to hear about how different countries perceive the same car. We have to note that there are subtle differences in the models released per country.

  • @mprinsgsxr
    @mprinsgsxr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Starlet is a Baleno. Toyota gets direct from Suzuki. 100% the same except for cosmetically different front bumper and wheels.
    I got 22.8km per liter on a 160km round-trip last weekend for the manual version.
    Claimed is 5.4L per 100km which is 18.5km/l
    Average currently on 16km/l average for mostly town driving
    Way better value for money than Starlet. 5 year 200 000 km warranty and 4 year 60 000km service plan

    • @MotoringAndTechWorld
      @MotoringAndTechWorld  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow this is really awesome. That is absolutely great consumption. Its always nice when your consumption is better than the claimed fuel consumption by the manufacturer. Thanks for contributing to this conversation. Your input is very valuable coming from an owner of the Baleno which is a direct comparison with the Starlet. Have you seen my latest video on the Corolla Cross XR? What are your thoughts on that vehicle?

      @mprinsgsxr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MotoringAndTechWorld hey Muhammed...don't mean to hijack your post and over share. Just thought I'd chip in as coincidentally just went through car buying trading exercise. I have owned BMW and Audi for 20 years but recent struggles with cost and constant breakdown of Audi A6 3.0T drove me insane so I bought 2021 Toyota Corolla Sedan XR as I wanted manual and normal aspirated. Done with spending money on turbo and DSG repairs.
      Because I know the Baleno is adopted and rebranded as Starlet by Toyota like they do with Brezza that they sell as Urban Cruiser I went to Toyota for Starlet for my son. Test drove and got quote and was disappointed that for way more money in Starlet XS (middle of range model) you get way less spec and warranty than on baseline Baleno GL. Bought Baleno instead as I bought my daughter a Swift 3 years ago and that's a great little car.
      I looked at test drive Corolla Cross but I don't like the horrible CVT gearbox and bought the Corolla Sedan with manual 6 speed instead.
