      @Austin Mark It's easier to hate a group when you ignore the actually people in said group. I see this plenty on facebook, a lot of people on the left thinks that being a christian automatically makes you part of the Westboro baptist church. It's ironically the same argument these people will argue against with islam.

      @Austin Mark sorry, i didn't word it in the best way. I was saying that it's easier for people to demonize a group (Christians in this case) by grouping them into another category they dislike (conservative in this case)

      "I don't know anything about gods"
      But I'll take fantastical concepts like "life force" and "eternal energy", and pretend they exist, condescendingly referring to religious concepts that ARE NO DIFFERENT than what you mention. Its semantic dumbfuckery that can't be substantisted through actual phenomena, so you do word play with "force" and "energy", dishonestly pretending that your version of religious conceptions is real....or seemingly profound by saying "eternal" and "cosmos".
      ...and no, "spirit" is etymologically the "breathe of god", and since its creation referred dualistic existence of separate realms, outside of matter. Quit lying, and keep your religion, supernaturalism, and mysticism out of science....and quit trying to conform your religious ideology to modern science. "Force" and "energy" refer to specific phenomena, none of which are what you are talking about.
      But yes, there isn't likely a soul, as its just another incoherent concept with little to no operational definition, like "God"...or "life force". We do have a mind, but its formed as a perception by the brain through introspection, retrospection, and prospection. The "whole body" is just a transport vehicle for the brain.

A source of information is only reliable as long as it can continually demonstrate its reliability. The moment that continued demonstration stops it can no longer be assumed as correct or reliable

    • @JohnSmith-fz1ih
      @JohnSmith-fz1ih ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, there’s a huge difference between a theoretical conversation about a source that consistently has accurate information and whether to have trust in that source, and the real world where the book in question is the bible or another holy book. The moment we talk specifics the whole argument becomes laughable. Sheep don’t get their stripes by mating in front of striped fence posts. The universe, planet earth, and humans weren’t all created all of a sudden at the same time. Forcing a pregnant woman to drink dirty water and seeing if her baby dies isn’t a reliable way to tell if she was unfaithful. And the list goes on and on and on.

All the more reason to love and enjoy your one and only life now. I don’t even want the option of a soul, I don’t care how blissful it is, you’ll get used to it, and then you’ll get fucking bored. • @normangoldstuck8107
      @normangoldstuck8107 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are not a scam. People use them incorrectly. Your broker is like a croupier in a casino. You expect him/her to place your trade(bet) accurately at the best price and to show evidence of having bought said security and placed it insafekeeping in your name. You then either lose or win. Do you think the croupier in the casino can bet any better than you?

      @Anne O'Nymous It's easy to be "far better" on occasion, due to chance. This is when people give the broker money. That same broker, next year, may do worse, again due to chance. If some brokers were, indeed, better than average over the long run, they'd be the only ones in business. As you can see, there are many brokers still in business, and yet, on average, they overwhelmingly don't to better than chance over the long run.

I asked how he knew this was true, he said that many people came to them for healing and this continued for a long time.
    I tried to point out the bullshit in that argument, by bringing up the true story that people believed that the ring worn by King Charles 1 was holy and could heal any who kissed of any illness (this applies to many other kings and also the pope), people would line up and pay a fee in order to meet the king to kiss his ring, the crowds would number in the hundreds. This practice is still believed by some people to this day(except it’s the popes ring).

So, so much for the idea that because "Adam and Eve" "sinned', the rest of humanity should suffer.

    If he honestly would use his method of “gaining faith in the reliability of the source”, he would have to reject texts such as the bhagavad gita or the bible, because religious texts simply do not make enough reliable claims to justify the things they also claim, which can’t be demonstrated. Instead, they are full of claims that can be demonstrated NOT to be true. So, there isn’t even reason to “gain faith in the source”.

    btw, the most ridiculous part of "Christianity" is the belief that we should all be GRATEFUL because "Jesus Christ" died for our "sins".
    Think about it. Say you have a good friend, and one day, you say or do something that offends them. They tell you that because of this, they can never forgive you and they walk away. Now say they return a short time later and tell you that they have found a way to forgive you. They're going to have a child, make sure it suffers and dies a horrible death, and once that has happened, they will forgive you.
    What would YOU think? Your friend is nuts? Wouldn't you say that you'd prefer they have nothing more to do with you---that they NOT forgive you----in order to save any child being born to your friend and suffer what he described? Of course you would.
    And, just consider that your friend could have come up with hundreds of other ways to forgive you, or just decide to forgive you. Period.
    So, we're supposed to be GRATEFUL to a god who comes up with such an idea as the only way he/she/it can forgive you? "I" didn;t get asked if this was okay with me, and none of us did. It's crazy, it's madness. I'm supposed to be "grateful" for a father who would treat his son this way when the god could EASILY just decide to forgive without all this "drama". And, geez, why could you think a god , who could do this to his son, loves YOU. OBVIOUSLY, he doesn't even give a damn about his own son, so why do you think he/she/it gives a damn about you?
    if you weren't BRAINWASHED, you'd see how NUTS this whole story is. so, just look at how your "god" allows so much suffering in the world ALL because "Adam and Eve" who were as innocent as small children, disobeyed him/her/it? geez, your god desperately needs 'Good Parenting 101". He/she/it is obviously incredibly immature, impulsive, and won't admit his/her/it has TERRIBLE judgement. so, if he/she/it exists, mankind, generation after generation, is suffering from his/her/it INCREDIBLE EGO.
    So, I am most definitely an atheist. I'm FINE with dying eventually, and letting "the worms eat me'. And, btw, perhaps you're aware that man is the only animal who knows he will die some day. SO, because man could not accept that, early man came up with this whole idea of an 'afterlife". and, no, I have zero fear of dying and "going to hell'. To me, if there's a heaven, I'd be stuck, for all eternity, with a bunch of incredibly boring, hypocritical "Christians", And "eternity" with you guys makes hell sound SO much better.
    Show me a "loving god' and I'm on board. Right now, all the 'gods' i've aware of all are psychopaths, homicidal maniacs who ENJOY watching humans suffer.

      Completely agree with you that the "gave his son blah blaha" story is just stupid.
      If the neighbour's son kicks a ball through your window and you go over and say it is OK they don't have to fix the broken wondow and you then go home and punish your child for the broken window you are a very good father. Is there any difference between god and a father doing this?
      Secondly, god supposedly gave his son to die, one huge sacrifice but after three days he just woke him up and away they go go, wow, who does he think he fooled? If I give a blanket to a homeless person am I doing any good? Yes, most probably. And if I take that blanket back after three days, am i still acting very nice?
      The whole story of giving his son to die is just so damn bizarre that it is hard to believe that that is the basis of some people's beliefs.

Christian Neoplatonists (Augustine etc.) have re-used this concept in a theological function; before, Christians, did not know this concept at all - the concept of "soul" -: Paul of Tarsus and the Doctrine, up to that moment spoke of "resurrection of bodies ", as the "Apostolic Creed" still bears witness to in the last verses: "I believe the resurrection of the flesh" (not of the soul).

Everything can be explained if you want it to be explained, no matter what! The experiences that I had since my childhood goes beyond the narrow-thinking of some or perhaps most. But I understand that it's a "see before believing" thing. I do understand that. I'm not of the youngest anymore, this makes it a life of experiences of all sort in this domain and other. If someone don't want to believe, and I mean "don't" want to, than it's a sure thing... he will not believe. He will believe whatever he wants to believe as long he can dismiss everything and explain it by other means. Even my own brother can't believe certain things (nothing to do with this topic), even if I lay the proof on the table in front of him. Even then he will make up an explanation for not believing it. I asked him once why. I guess he was in a good mood because he gave me the answer. He said because he couldn't cope with that to be a reality. True or not. He couldn't accept it, it was to different than what he was led to believe all his life. That's that comfort zone that's talked about in psychology. Back to my own experiences, I bet my house and my life on it that when the experiences I had, that guy in the video who talks nonsense, would run away crying and screaming for his mommy. I had mostly good but some bad. I learnt from it and can defend myself now. I laugh with shows like "Ghost hunters". That's more a movie stage and filled with man made effects, all for the money. I had premonitions during my life, nothings strange to it. It's a part of who we are, it's not a fabric of the mind. There are scientists and even quantum physicists who are talking about other dimensions and astral levels these days. So you got one with a high degree that says something and another one with a high degree that says the opposite. It's not a question who's right but what kind of experiences you had in that domain. I had my proof over and over again during my life, that's all what matters. I have not to convince someone else. They will discover it for themselves when their time has come. About me, I have no schizophrenia or any other mind decease. So, I think that's it a fair comment from me to say that it's a "must see before believing" thing. And oh boy... I have seen it! PS: I am really not religious.

Negative spirits or entities... that's another ball game all together. They don't follow rules.
      I never heard the term physical spiritualist before, he made that up but why the word physical?
