I work in the union for construction, roofing..benefits and all that. I am a part time detailer after work and full time weekend, I wouldn’t quit my job because i love both worlds and both have great income
I quit my job because i couldn't deal with people Bs I'm in Canada and it's not a joke winter here but i make enough to support me my girlfriend go on vacation and any other things buy just working in the summer months.... i wouldn't tell anyone to quit their job,,,,, but for me i should of done it long time ago.... work alone and feel good about it because I'm a really detailed person and can't find someone who can do what i do so I'm happy working alone less stress lol... if you're ok at you're work place why not stay
Only one year in the game is not enough to have a sufficient amount of customers/income to support such an investment…. Trust me, I’m not hating. I also have a brand new metris that I paid cash for I’m just confused how a beginner like you can afford a $60,000 detailing rig Have you even earned $60k yet to justify that investment lol I quit my job 8 months in when I realized I was loosing money. Took me a lot of blood sweat and tears to earn my keep, I’m impressed with your journey and wish you success with your business…
Thanks for the support! I run this business as well as another business and have my full time job. It takes a new business to see an ROI approximately 3-5 years so no I can’t say I’ve earned $60k yet but in time I will. I wouldn’t want to quit my day job as is helps me network not only with the business Im in but also for the detailing business. It seems as if they are all tied together in some strange way and that’s what’s helping me out throughout the journey.
I quit my job and used some of my savings to buy an express van and had it fully equipped in a week. It’s not hard if you already have savings and your job was paying well. My next goal is to buy a Mercedes Metris as well. But yes, that’s the answer I’m sure.
I’m not usually one to comment, but I feel like I need to shed some light on some misconceptions here. @danny-xj5ts you’re right that one year is likely not long enough to justify this set up, but where many detailers go wrong - and I’m assuming @beatinclassdetailing did this, but pls check me if not- is that they ASSUME they need to purchase a decked out, all the bells n whistles unit in order to get started. This is just utter nonsense. Most detailers need to start with their beat up Honda Accord, a pressure washer , soap and the basic basic basic minimum. $500 MAX spend. The key is to NOT take on a bunch of debt and start your detailing business in the negative. This produces so much risk to being successful. Most guys think by purchasing all the best of the best equipment , products , vehicles etc that the customers will just come running to them. NOT. I wish there were more voices of reason in this space discussing how to intelligently start this very low cost business with the right financial decisions to back it. And Johnathan , you are right that MOST business take 3-5 years to turn a profit. However, detailing has so much low overhead and even lower start up expenses that you could literally buy your bare minimum equipment ($500) and pay it off in LITERALLY 1-2 details, putting you in the green for the rest of your detailing career. You just need to manage your finances accordingly, cash flow your purchases , and not make dumb spending decisions. PLEASE future detailers reading this. Be smart, be patient , and don’t buy into the hype of all the “gear” you think you need to start and be successful in this industry. It’s not necessary off the bat. I started my detailing biz in July 2022. No debt. No fancy equipment. Worked my way up to better and better tools and equipment slowly and methodically. Never paying with credit. No fancy vehicle. Just smart steady growth. And I’m forecasting $84k in my first full year, 15 maintenance customers, and plenty of repeat customers to boot. 77 5 star reviews on google. It’s possible ! Johnathan, I respect your channel, your humility, and willingness to grow slowly and patiently. Keep going strong brother.
