  • A visit to the premier alpine rock destination of the Salbitschijen 2981m, near Göschenen in Central Switzerland to climb the super-classic 16 pitch 550M South Ridge. The Sudgrat is often described as one of the best and most beautiful climbs of its type and grade in the whole of the Alps so here is a short HD video featuring the flora + fauna, time lapses, big towers, super-exposed ridges + giddyfying drops, culminating in the photogenic Gipfelnadel summit pinnacle! :-)

Wonderful place to be-wonderful video. Your getting better at this Dave. Beautiful rock to be on-a seriously invigorating ridge. Great climb! ATB Mark.

+WyeExplorer Hiya Mark and a big, fat thanks for the positive feedback. The Salbitschijen Sudgrat has been on my hit-list for yonks and it was great to have finally experienced the hut, route and area which all fully lived up to my expectations and some! I keep on trying to improve and have 1 more video of a climb on an amazing natural feature (not a million miles away from you) nearing completion, plus 2 more ready to start so watch this space... :-) Cheers Dave

Yes another awesome vid. I find this style of producing surpassing the one of mainstream climbing movies commercial trash. I think the lack of drama shots and big egos climbers, really captures the beauty of the sport and the majesty and serenity of the location. Well done.

+jusmeig Howdy jusmeig and a big fat thanks for the feedback + I really appreciate your appreciation! Indeed the Sudgrat is an amazing climb and when the grumpy cloud came in on the crux pitch 9, I thought that was going to be a grade or 2 above my comfort level too.... ;-) Cheers Dave

Beautiful! Amazing footage. Is the leader Spanish? It is great seeing him climbing!

+Vicente Carmona Heya Vicenta I'm very glad you enjoyed my video and a maa-hoosive thanks for posting some positive feedback yet again! Yep El David is Spanish, from the Basque country of Bilboa and has been a great mate + climbing companion of mine on the Dibona, Eiger, Barre des Ecrins + other classic routes for many years. Whenever a route gets quite hard technically, we send him ahead to lead the pitch as he is a beast of a climber... :-) Cheers Dave
