Do you still remember the text of “Drawing the Star Fruit” we learned in primary school? Its unique shape is really impressive. The star fruit growing on the plateau of Yunnan has enough moisture and is juicy and sweet. The fine flesh without dregs is super refreshing. Generally we use it to make salad. We can also use its sour juice to make some delicious dishes.

You made me remember my grandfather. During the summer he would go to the mountains with my cousins to hunt. And when they weren’t hunting, they were foraging. He always brought home star fruits, mangoes, rambutan and sugar canes. He passed in 2021 and I miss him. My cousins want to continue their tradition to keep grandfather’s memory alive

My favorite tree! My parents planted a star fruit tree when I was born. I grew up climbing the tree to play,, to eat some fruits, to reflect, to see the world behind the walls from my house and, at the same time, to hide from everything. This tree is sacred to me, it's the bond with those happy days I had climbing it and feeling embarrassed by its branches, fruits, flowers and leafs.

Star Fruit has always been my favorite fruit. I love to eat Star fruit by itself or in fruit salad or rice dishes.
A warning to those who want to try the recipes: star fruit contains caramboxin and oxalic acid, which can be harmful to those with kidney conditions. YOU CAN DIE if you eat them while under dialysis, have kidney stones, or are suffering from kidney failure. With that aside, star fruit is my favorite fruit, and these recipes look amazing. When very ripe and deep yellow, it is soft in texture and sweet. I like mine only slightly ripe, a little sour but texture better.

Star fruit is my ultimate favorite fruit. Its hard to find here in the USA. But when I do find it, I always buy it even though it is usually expensive. Very good flavor and I just eat it by itself. It doesnt need anything else. Second and third favorite is the green apple 🍏 and manderine orange. 😁

Oh and I love the white mushrooms tremella. I bought some last time I went shopping and the flavors are a lot like morel mushrooms that are coming up right now in my part of the US. They are very good in everything I've tried them in.
