I didn't apply for Standford cause its way beyond my reach, but my friend did and everyone is so hoping for him to get accepted. And if he does, I wondered what his environment would look like. So I wish him luck!!! Great Vlog btw!!!
Stanford is better than any Ivy League institution. You should reconsider applying it even there's small chances.

Thanks for this video Jas In Jollege! Loved it. I applied for a PhD at Stanford and have to wait until the end of February 2020 to find out. The wait is gnarly, but this video really keeps me going! Hope your sophomore year is going well!

U can preload it by splitting the SSD and loading windows or running a Virtual Machine or you can also run like a paid mirror software. Imma guess since this is Stanford it’s probably a paid software.
oh god that just breaks my heart, I always wanted to study in a real university, especially in the US, instead I am in a crappy college in Russia freezing almost all the time ..

Does taking AP Calc BC(and getting a five) give you more credit than AP Calc AB( getting a 5). Btw, Your video is amazing. Stanford is unbelievably beautiful and your work ethic is awesome! More power to you!
Anoushka Puri Yes, a 5 on AB gets you 8 unit credits, and a 5 on BC gets you 10. You can only get max 10 I think.

How could I enter stanford university if I'm a foreigner?
I'm form latin America, and my lowest grade is usually 90 out of 100.
(I'm 15 btw) I have my American citizenship so that really helps me. But my parents aren't really well economically. So I was thinking of applying for a scholarship.
Do you have any pointers? I've been looking for info on the Internet, but I think your advice could reaalllyyy come in handy.
Edit: after finishing highschool my parents want to move to the US for me to be able to study, but we would live in NJ.

im still in middle school (8th grade) and im already getting worried about college, and i really want to get to standford like my sister. I see my sister as a role model, and it really motivates me !!
I have been an honor student ever since i was in 4th grade, and i think my academics are doing pretty well, but on the other hand I never did any extracurricular activities.
Im really worried about this, and standford does'nt really have a high acceptance rate for international students.

We don't have an undergraduate law program so if you're applying as an undergrad you just have to apply to the undergraduate school and declare your major later. My high school average unweighted GPA was a 3.96/4.0 and yes I did some volunteering in high school but that was not my main extracurricular focus. I have a video all about my Common App Activities up on my channel!

what scores did u get to get in???!!! I got a 1390 SAT and a 31 ACT, and consider myself extremely well-rounded, id say top 10% at least in terms of well-roundedness. However, my gap is around 3.6. what do you think?

I have a video all about my stats on my channel! Your scores are more on the lower side so I would try your best to keep retaking to at least get within Stanford's middle 50% (high 1400 to low 1500) or at least right outside of it in order to be competitive. Most people applying to Stanford have 3.8+ GPA but it definitely depends on the competitiveness of the high school that you go to. As long as you are doing good relative to your peers, working hard, and challenging yourself, you put yourself in the best position to have a chance.

Which Calculus class are you taking? How the Math Placement test works? If it will place somebody in the higher class (like Math 21 for example) that means this person has already a credit for two previous?
I am in Math 21. If you receive a 5 on the AP Calculus AB test, you get credit (8 units) that is equivalent Math 19 and Math 20. However, you can take whatever math class you want. The placement test is just a suggestion, yet most people tend to follow it.

How is the chem department at Stanford? Is your chem class good? I'm considering majoring in chemistry (chemical biology concentration) so I would love to hear your thoughts!
The chemistry department is pretty good, but the introductory classes are super rigorous. Most STEM majors say it is the hardest or one of the hardest classes they have to take workload wise. I don't know that much about upper level chem classes, but I know the chemistry major is pretty flexible with letting you branch out into other areas. We only have a "biological chemistry" track if that's what you're referring too, but again I'm not that familiar with it.

girl im getting ready to go to college in the bay area in a few months and ive never really been far away from home so im really curious on how you are able to make money...do you work out of school or on the campus?
I worked like 30 hours a week during the summer before my freshman year of college to save up for money to have during college so I would not have to work! I have a small job as a research assistant on campus but my money mostly comes from what I saved up this summer.

Hey, I’m currently a sophomore in high school, and I wanted to see if you could answer a few questions about getting into Stanford.
So my school only looks at the letter when calculating gpa, so all 90-100 values are a 4.0. A- for example is still a 4.0. Additionally, getting an A in Honors and Ap classes is worth a 5.0. Based on this system, I have had a 4.0 freshman year, currently a 4.25 my first semester of sophomore year, and probably this next semester as well. If I get straight A’s next year, which there is a decent/good chance of, I will have a 4.625. My gpa senior year will likely be somewhere around 4.5. When it comes to the SAT, I haven’t taken it yet, but I was forced to take the PSAT this year and without much studying got a 1350.
My extracurriculars I could list on my application in 2 years would include being a captain of the varsity track team, an Eagle Scout, School Orchestra for two years, and I’m considering doing the play junior year as well as possibly joining this one entrepreneurship club in which I believe, if I’m not mistaken, I’ll be allowed the opportunity to become a club leader or something of that sort.
Based on these academics and extracurriculars, what would you say is that status of my high school career in the context of aspiring for Stanford? I’m curious on the validity/merit of my extracurriculars. What advice would you give to a sophomore like me?

Snoopwood50 ur best chances are to drop out of highschool and start working at a good job like in-n-out. In like 4 years you can be a manager cuz u smart. Way better than wasting ur time in school when you could be making money now.

It’s winter break so it will probably be after break I get one but I have at least one recommendation already. What date do you think after the deadline is good to submit it for them to still see it before reviewing?

materials, including recommendations) needs to be submitted by the same deadline. You can check online / call the admissions office to clarify if you wish!
I’ve been watching a lot of these videos and I’ve noticed a lot of student using older MacBooks. 2010-2012.

Devarsh Bhatt sometimes they’re gifts. My parents gave me a laptop when my sister graduated high school so maybe that’s the case. But for real tho they legit all have MacBooks lmao
