Brave effort from Chris. Such a tough guy, really don’t like seeing him taking that kind of punishment in fights but credit to his heart, conditioning & bravery for fighting to the end. A couple of wins & he’ll be back in title contention
I felt the brit was a little too green.. it was announce in the spanish commentators that when Smith was starting his career, Zurdo was already world champion. that old boxing saying that Iron sharpens Iron. Chris can be proud. He is an amazing fighters with a great humble personality and a good role model. He can compete with almost anyone and I definitely would wanna see more of him. Same goes for Zurdo, but he is the clear winner, so that was already obvious. Great match, deserved more attention/promotion in my opinion.
At the very highest level you need more than just heart and toughness. CBS has both in abundance but Zurdo is slick and skilful, he does subtle things that allow him to find angles and range to get off 3,4 and 5 punch combo's. CBS lost to the better boxer, not much more he could have done tonight as the skill set difference was obvious
No excuses, just an honest assessment. It was nice to hear, CBS seems like a really genuine and respectful man. I wish more boxers had his attitude. I'm sure he'll be back, I hope so anyway.
People always say he looks gassed but he survives 12 round wars and constantly comes forward and throws. Even Zurdo said he just kept coming forward. He clearly lost tonight but his face makes him look tired after round 1 in every fight
He was in the same condition against Masternak and got lucky with a Body shot. Opetaia would have had him out of the ring inside 6 rounds. CBS and his team new Opetaia would have humiliated him.
