He was cutting out the low frequencies and by the looks of it ramping up the bpm of the track just seconds before it drops. So actually something happened but you just don't know what to look for because you probably don't have much knowledge about DJ'ing. I must admit that there's a lot of artists out there that do just touch knobs just to look busy, but this guy didn't.

@@areyoueatme totally agree with you on that one haha. The scene has gone to shit here in the Netherlands. All the same shitty djs on every lineup with zero buildup and all just high bpm tracks. I personally enjoy when the lineup has a certain buildup where I can enjoy some 132 bpm techno in the beginning and then close with a banging 145 bpm set. Hope it's all just a wave that will eventually go away.

@@thesteveruss the synth in hitech compared to hard trance are indeed very similar sometimes but the baseline in hitech is way different and faster (triplet), like in this video
