Sir, with all do respect, you are the Lou Reed of country western music. The inspiration behind many artists. I hold you in esteem with such great artists as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Willy Nelson.
I remember back in the early 70's seeing R.W. Hubbard on the beach below Galveston during Spring Break, and it was a wonderful time until the tide washed in, and the stage had to be moved way back off the shoreline...So we all just got drunker then we were already....Good old Days...
I saw this ol' dog he was chasin' this rabbit I saw a dog a'chasin' this rabbit I saw this dog he was chasin' this rabbit It was on Sunday, about noon. I said to the rabbit, "Are ya gonna make it?" I said the rabbit, " Ya gonna make it?" I said to the rabbit, "Are ya gonna make it?" The rabbit said said, "Well, I got to." Well, a woman's heart's a sacred thing A woman's heart's a sacred thing A woman's heart's a sacred thing So what's a man to do? "Try a little tenderness, " Otis Redding said "Try a little tenderness, " is what he said "Try a little tenderness, " Otis said Then he said, "I got to, got to, good God, watch me work!" There's two kinds of people in the world There's two kinds of people in the world There's two kinds of people in the world The day people and the night people. And it's the night peoples' job It's the night peoples' job It's the night peoples' job To get the day peoples' money Well between the Devil and the deep blue sea Between the Devil and the deep blue sea Between the Devil and the deep blue sea That's where I am, I don't know what that means Maybe it means I'm funky and cool Maybe it means I'm funky and cool Maybe it means I'm funky and cool I seriously doubt if that's what it means. "If it's in the groove, everybody loves it" "If it's in the groove, everybody loves it" "If it's in the groove, everybody loves it" Howlin' Wolf said that. We've a short time to be here We've a short time to be here We've a short time to be here So get out of your rut and get in your groove Get out of your rut and get in your groove Get out of your rut and get in your groove
Saw Ray perform recently and yes, his show was outstanding. Rick wasn't playing drums and although the other drummer did a fine job... Rick just smokes the rhythm and beat. A real snake charmer in his own right.
Thank you, Music Fog, Ray Wylie, Lucas this just blew me away. Got a son that lives in Plano next time I go see him will have to find out where Ray Wylie will be and go see him.
I am trying so hard to listen to his music and appreciate it. He plays great, but he just goes for all the easy rhymes. He just keeps repeating lines over and over. Come on. I want so to appreciate it but it's just to lazy. :-(
Youre missing the music while youre trying to hear it. Just listen to it and enjoy it. He isnt Ray Wylie Shakespeare. He has a song named Snake Farm for gods sake.
Jim, that would be "too" lazy. As in, "I'm too lazy to use proper grammar when criticizing those that are on Music Fog and have had a long and tenured career, while I'm on my sofa critiquing". Miley Cyrus is but a few key strokes away, if you need true inspiration and musical genius.
+Jim Hetzer (Cosmo) Just for the record, that's pretty standard blues. Repeat a lyric two or three times and resolve it on the third (or fourth). What you're seeing here is a man creating a new song while sticking to traditional forms. I think that's pretty f'ing cool.
so jessie...you are a part of the corporate bs you negatively mentioned....or did Ray play for free and did all the patrons eat and drink for free????? Until you can and will produce a show like this without profiting for yourself, lay of the socialist bs about being anti corporate america as you are an active participant!
