  • A new study has found that Nestlé sold baby products with higher sugar content in less developed South Asian countries, including India, and African and Latin American nations as compared to its markets in Europe. Faye D'Souza speaks to Revant Himatsingka aka Foodpharmer about these double standards.

No doubt, the diabetes is spreading rapidly due to products such as this, but the blame goes to staple food we have been eating for ages.

Very informative and to me an eye opener. We go for easy ways of putting food on the table in least amt of time but don't realise the harm they are causing to our health. All these diet foods too are very misleading. The substitutes have far more damaging content in them. Thank you Faye. God bless you.

I think there is cost part as well - sugar will increase the volume at low cost so they have to supply less nutrient which are costly.

Where are quality control agencies? Already air is heavily polluted, water bodies totally contaminated, soil getting toxic because much chemicals/ substances have seeped into it; and now food and edibles are substandard! Concerned departments/ agencies must go proactive pl.

No! Take your vitamins and minerals from your usual healthy, balanced diet. Both are present in ample amounts in the routine food.

What are we talking about ? We drink worst water supplied by corporations. ! We eat all vegitables and fruits that is highly contaminated with pesticide . We see sweet makers with lot of sweets with no awareness about how it is made. All food made by restaurents add many ingredients for taste and comes to our home via zomato. people are crowding at road side pani poori seller and no one sure what kind of water he uses. Still we are thinking about noodles and chololates. ! We are talking as if we are some world best clean people

Yes it's basically the regulatory system of this country which is to be blamed. Nobody thinks our local products are of very high standards but when companies like Nestle etc take advantage of our inept system it's very concerning. That means not just road side pani puri, even the international companies will give substandard products in this country.

Madam ji, please stop spreading fear mongering. Sugar is not bad in isolation. I don't expect you to do this even after you talked with Dr. Abby Philips. Try feeding a kid without any sugar. Will they drink? It's not like you're feeding the kid only this as food. This is just a small part of diet.

We have some superstition type in illiterate India; I saw some vendors sprinkling gutter water on leafy vegetables 🥬 because they have the misplaced notion that it increases the shelf life! Need to educate semiliterate Indian shopkeepers/ vegetable sellers about increasing shelf life for the vegetables 🥦
