Wow! I WILL be purchasing these when my budget grows. And thanks to Jeff Ferris. Who is one of the Best instructors around; and why I call him a "Cut" above!
Excellent clarification of source and demonstration of features. I do miss the old orange Pony Jorgensen clamps, but, fortunately they seem to last forever. The stay-in-place clutch and the lever-handle put these on my list to add to my collection (you can never have enough clamps, but where to put them?). Thanks for the video.
Jeff is a great instructor, love his videos.... But Yost parallel clamps have the tilt handle and produce more force than any clamps I have tested, they are superb. Also, the new Bessey parallel clamps have a hex female socket in rear of handle, which enables a ratchet handle to fit in, this will save your hands more than any clamp ever made, as the leverage is measured by how long your ratchet handle is. I switched over mostly to the Bessesys now... then add in the tremendous accessories they sell, , it increases the versatility of the clamp, specially the ability to make them longer. Jeff is right, hands can get sore grabbing those handles and torquing them. I only have a tiny touch of arthritis, cant imagine having a more severe case and torquing the handles. These look like very high quality clamps, certainly not knocking them in anyway...just advising fellow ww of the alternatives for added handle leverage.
I did not know Yost made clamps like this. Good to know. I have one of their forged vises. Best vise I ever owned and fairly light weight, but not lightweight on clamp pressure, it's a beast.
These are identical to Ehoma clamps sold (for less) at Woodcraft. They have some nice features but I’ve never had the described issues with my Bessey clamps.
Really? Allowing for only a 300% gross margin, are you suggesting that your cost per pivoting handle upgrade runs to $2.00, give or take a dime?@@WoodpeckersLLC
I have no idea. That's not my department. I'm saying that as a clamp user I would pay 7+ dollars more for a clamp with that feature than I would pay for one without it.
Although these are "on sale" to Jan 3, it is disappointing that they are priced the SAME as Bessey parallel clamps, even though they are made in Taiwan. We buy USA rivets and rivet tools and Taiwan rivets/ rivet tools and typically the Taiwan parts are 35-55% LESS, not the same price.
Thanks for explaining the why and where for this new line. Have to agree on the Jorgenson comments, I have a lot of older (USA) versions also newer parallel clamps (wish these had the clutch that the Sembles's have as they tend to slide down when vertical), the 90 degree handle is a great feature. At this point Bessey is mix of manufacturing (Germany, US Assembly, and China).
The clamping head on Bessey parallel clamps ratchets down when you hold it vertically. That's a nuisance. Also, the pads slide off, another nuisance, but I've got so much invested in them that I'm not about to replace them.
Nice review of features, nice clamps with outstanding features. You always help me spend my money. So, do you have a plan for the toddler chair? It would be perfect for my granddaughter.
ehoma clamps from Woodcraft... Same but different prices and can buy in singles. Highland Woodworker has these on sale currently with set 12.99 shipping for lower 48 and $0 tax for out of state purchase.
They look the same but the Ehoma clamps at Woodcraft do not appear to have the pivoting handle. My guess is Woodpeckers took the Ehoma clamps and rebranded them as Semble. An internet search found the Semble name was trademarked by Woodpeckers in August of 2021. So the name Semble = $.
@@FixedbyRick ehoma offer both with and without pivot handles. The ones on sale at Highland Woodworker are pivot handles. Woodpeckers trademarked the name... not the tool. Why Woodcraft or Highland do not sale "Semble" but the clamps are the same from Taiwan... ehoma.
@@williamnelson3871 purchasing dept needs to negotiate with UPS, especially for overseas shipments. Woodpeckers is missing a lot of sales due to shipping costs.
I’ve been able to find Bessey clamps that look identical, made in the first world, sold at the orange box store. I’m sure that won’t last, so thanks for finding a quality alternative.
They seem ok to me. Virtually identical to others. Any clamp is easy to use while on a flat table and with two hands. Doubt these are any easier than Bessey or jet. Sadly neither Bessey or jorgs are still made in us or Germany so they sough5bout to find something regardless of where it’s made. Um. Ok. Sounds more like a profit move to me, which is fine, but call it like it is. I have zero complaints about my inventory.
bessey parallel clamps work just fine if you know how to use them, but if your WoodPeckers, you got a cut down everyone else to sell your own product. i'll stick with Bessey
I love this channel! I can’t believe I get so much pleasure out of watching tool talks!
Jeff, Great show! I enjoy it and had to share and watch a few times. Than you!

Careful what you wish for: I got their Clamp Rack-It System a month ago and it solved my clamp clutter. Now I have room for more clamps!!!

Glad to hear Yost clamps are a good alternative.

Not identical. Woodcraft's do not have the pivoting handle. That's a feature well worth a 6 or 7 dollar price difference.

Fair enough.
Can’t argue with that.
Agree .. ehoma has been making pivot handle clamps for years. They are terrible to use. Bessey revo clamps are much better. And they are German made!

Excellent!
Rebranding an existing product (Ehoma) without changing/improving it seems pretty lame. Makes it harder for the wood worker to evaluate alternatives.

These are ehoma clamps. Not in the same league as bessey... add glue residue to the bar and the difference becomes exaggerated.
I'll stick with Bessey, thank you very much.
I'm sure we can all sleep better at night now we know what you announced to the world.

At least some rough measuments and I could go from there.

Found a site in Canada that sells them a lot cheaper than WP.
I am not trying to offend Woodpeckers, but if possible, could you please share that site with us? Thanks!
THANKS GREAT CLAMPS HOPE I CAN AFFORD SOME OF THEM. GOOD VIDEO
Just checked web site. It says the clamps are expected to ship in 24-28 weeks. Unexpected.
Yeah, it was for us, too. We thought we bought enough to last until the next shipment arrives, but you guys gobbled them up!
