And modern monsters are more like spell/trap cards that can attack than just monsters...

It's 2023 and people _still_ think you can play Sekka's Light in SHS
(under Sekka's, you can't activate pendulum scales or the effects of SHS Soul monsters while they're equipped, and both those things are pretty important to the strategy)
Just Don't play those and play sekka copium

Only bad thing is that you can’t activate the effect to banish the same turn it was sent to the GY otherwise it would be really good.
You can still play spells and traps that banish themselves. Which is a small list but it is something to think about.
I run Rise to Full Height in mine, i'm more or less casual, but it does come in handy there
If it becomes a popular enough choice itll get countered by the like of ghost belle and boom, deck shutdown, not worth the risk unless its really niche

Something i would like to mention is that you can actually use spells and traps since steam king banishes spells and traps from both graves and they have a trap that is designed around them in art and effect that banishes itself so its still possible
Also there is the synchro that lets you set your opponent's spells and traps from their graveyard to your field. Gimmick, but quite strong.

For the older cards, prior to recent and upcoming support, it was a lot harder to get out the likes of Steam Train King if you have s/t cards in your graveyard.
With these new Pendulum ones and other future support cards we'll soon be getting, it'll be a breeze to do so... though I still probably won't run any in my deck. I'll just steal them all from my opponent with Stealth, Thief, and Susanowo ;)
Remember that old guide book that was like “It’s important to have a perfect balance between monster cards, spell cards, and trap cards!”

It was true for a long time at the very least.
20/10/10 has always just felt right you know and that sorta applies to any minimum 40 card tcg.
But it doesn't hurt to switch it up every once in awhile, loved playing trap only decks with trap monsters back in the day.
Or stuff like tokens, scapegoat with united we stand is still pretty decent.
Superheavy Samurai totally play spells and traps! They just "borrow" them from your graveyard.

@@DaDualityofMan in the pure variant, Stealth and Susanowo can steal S/T from the GY as quick effects, while Thief is a walking MST that sets on your field the card it destroys.

Call me crazy but i play a spell in my superheavy deck but i have a reason. I play 2 copies of Clockwork night because 1 turns all monsters to machine and 2 i can banish it from gy to add any superheavy which is pretty good
That’s probably one of the only spells it could play. Or something that can banish itself like breakthrough skill or something like that.
In the right conditions, watch out because they can start running *your* spells and traps.
Susanowo and Thief like to have words with those who frivolously use their S/Ts... namely, the words on said S/Ts, as we steal them! >:D

Here’s a spell that can actually be played in a Superheavy Samurai deck: Sekka’s Light.
It requires no Spells/Traps in the GY to activate, prevents you from using spells/traps the rest of the duel, and you can banish it from the GY to shuffle a monster from your hand to the deck and draw 1 card.
Best part is that you can use the GY effect on the same turn you play it from the hand.
Never see it coming that Gongenzaka will finally have the time to shine at the meta trend.....

Yeah in the TCG format SHS is definitely gonna be a lot weaker I feel. The deck folds to common side-board floodgates with not many good outs to them and can struggle to break boards because of it too.
Also we cant play adamancipator which is the deck most people seem to be playing with it.
But they don't really care for Maxx "C" in the TCG
I hope its weak so it will not be hit by the banlist and i can play it full power for fun

Ghoti SHS is a force to be reckoned with, I think it’s more powerful than pure SHS. It recently performed amazingly, and I’m sure it will be built upon.
Super Heavys have access to heaps of outs as a Full Monster Mash Deck apart from Anti-Spell.
I love that my absolute favorite archetype finally has the fame and glory they deserve I started playing them on dueling nexus a few years back, and I have always loved the fact they have unique gimmicks that don't feel bad or unfun to play with.(plus battleball is best boy)

Not sure if it will be the "best deck" of CYAC format, but definitely a strong contender.
Regarding Five Rainbow Magician, I might be coping here, but that card honestly feels like a bit of a boogie-man i.e. scary in theory, but not really worth it in practice. Depends on the banlist too; if currently dominant decks like Kash are still around, I just don't think people are gonna be able to slot in the Side Deck 3 copies of a card that is only good in 1 match-up.
I mean most superheavy decks have either archfiend eccentric or Garuda to pop floodgates.
Don’t forget you can also run artifacts to get around it.
No spells or traps.... that's the heavy strong style

I played the superheavy samuray deck on the mobile app when the deck was launched. It broke everything except for some wierd deck that kept reviving and eliminating my monsters and some variation of Dark magician deck.
That deck was fun and helped me rose like 3 or 4 rank colors

Not entirely if you already have Steam Train King on board before you go berserk, train can banish s/t from grave.
Guessing people forgot about that BA all-monster deck that was big roughly around the time Pendulum Magicians were big. Sekka's Light saw the most play in that deck once that card was released.
Sekka's light might see play at the cost of not being able to steal your opponent's spells
You aren't able to set Pendulum scales after playing Sekka's Light. Since setting a scale is activating a spell (same way that Anti-Spell completely stops you from setting scales).
There's like 3 spells that they can play,
Including a floodgate and drawpower.

Traps are played so little these days that so many people walk straight into mirror force and magic cinder without an immediate counter, or stop for a second when they get dark bribed.
Been on that adamancipator vernusylph superheavy samurai ishizu grass deck and the superheavy cards are a very nice addition to the decks consistency!

Played a ranked match on master duel (bronze 4 btw) where my opponent FTKd me after playing though a total of 36 cards while still having 4 cards in their hand. As a YugiBoomer I'm still not use to this after getting back into the game 6 months ago. Anyway they spent 10 minutes playing solitaire and when they finally declared the first attack I had a single trap on the backrow........so naturally I went passive aggressive and lost to time out instead of letting them attack for game. Oof

There should be a deck with monsters that have low attack but cannot be negated in any way. They can also attack upon summon but go to the graveyard after. They can also be revived by playing the same monster.
My friend used to play super heavy samurais and used multiple utility spells that would just exile themselves in one way or another

Can’t wait to play the new SuperHeavy Samurai’s. It’s one of my favorite decks, and they needed support, mostly to stop the enemy from negating your 1st play upon summoning Flutist, Giga Gloves, and Trumpeter. Can’t wait to see what the new cards have to offer.
(Back in one of my showers, I had a crazy thought that’ll never happen, but what if they gave SuperHeavy Samurai’s Spell & Trap support, but the shared effects for all of them is “If this card were to be sent to the GY from your hand and/or field, banish it instead.”. This way, you can play Spells and Traps whilst still being able to play SuperHeavy Samurai’s at there fullest potential.
Can’t wait to see what these new support cards are going to be

Is the new Superheavy Samurai support really so good that it could push the deck to top tier status? Back in my circle Superheavy Samurai was kind of a meme because our friend newest to the game built a super budget version and never won so I always glossed over them.
Well a 1 card starter with multiple ways to get to that enables all of ur plays turns out to definitely be enough to catapult this strategy to the top
The new cards don't play anything like the old ones. Instead of a shaky otk strategy, you're just shitting out infinite monsters.

@@kashiffarees881 That's the kind of legacy support I hate, ones that betray the original identity of the strategy just to be another endless combo deck that ends on the same end board every other combo deck does, or just puts up a big fat floodgate. I want to see legacy support that helps a deck win using its originally intended win condition, even if it's kinda bad (Like Galaxy-Eyes. Yeah the deck bricks like nothing else but you're mostly ending the game with in-archetype monsters, save the odd CDI and Zeus)
