I went straight into college, drowned in debt, and harped to my much younger siblings for years to not feel pressured to go to college until they know for sure what they want to do, and even then, do community college first and take your time. Now my younger siblings have zero debt, are in fantastic careers, and frankly doing better than I am financially because they didn’t have to pay off 80k in debt before they started saving money 😅😅 I’m glad I could be the Guinea pig and warn them because college definitely isn’t the one true way for everyone ❤️

My kids are interested in college and I’m pushing junior college first. Live at home, get your general Ed out of the way and take classes in things that interest you. I was an A science student in high school and had to drop Chem and Bio at junior college. Switched my major to English and became a teacher. Way different from my original college plan.

Boss Babes: College is a waste.
Also Boss Babes: We sell products created by SCIENTISTS.
Where do they think those scientists learned their skills? Were they born in lab coats with beakers in hand?
College isn't for everyone and no one should be shamed for not wanting to go, but I personally loved my classes and I wouldn't trade my education for anything. There is no one size fits all career option and the sooner we stop pitting higher ed against trades against non-degree work, the better.

I 100% agree with you about the school thing. There's a need for artisans and trades men in addition to needing pilots, cabin crew, CNAs, medical assistants, elderly care workers, etcetera.
I'm an intermediate level metalsmith (and am starting training in blacksmithing, ceramics, & glass work soon) and will make as much if not more money than I would have if I stayed in undergrad and on track with eventually getting a Doctorate.
In my area there are a small handful of ceramic artists & metalsmiths, one blacksmith, and no (blown or stained) glass artists. Yet there's a huge market here, it's my dream to eventually do restoration and make reproductions in addition to teaching classes, and having space for artist retreats ran by myself and/or renting out for other people to lead them.

I am still in uni and do need my degree for the job i want to do, but i am seriously contemplating not doing my M.A. like i inteded because i will actually overqualified for many jobs and not get a much bigger salary for 2 more years of education. I originally wanted to pursue a PhD, but with my bachelors i will almost make the same as in education but without 2-year-contracts and not knowing where i will be in 2-4 years from now. I also don't want to move my kid around the entire country (i'm in Germany) because of my job. I hated moving around as a kid, they shouldn't have to suffer the same.

I went to cosmetology school straight out of high school. I didn't finish due to some personal issues. I waited until my 3 kids were old enough for pre-school to go to college. I had to do online college so I could work full time and school full time. I ended up graduating with a BS in legal studies in just 3 years. No jobs took my degree seriously because it was online. My online degree costs me more than a traditional college. I am glad I had the pride from earning it, but it really wasted money at the end of the day.

    • @brightballoon
      @brightballoon 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Is it an accredited college that you got the degree from? If it is, I'm surprised jobs don't take that seriously. Community colleges are good for inexpensive degrees, and I think they have a lot of online classes by now. Is the college one that's advertised online and maybe taken less seriously, like University of Pheonix or something? Would it be possible for you to fudge where you went to school and that it was online, but not the degree that you have, to jobs when interviewing? Bc if you have the working knowledge, maybe that could help you get a job you'd like with minimal stretching of the truth.

So my husband is a manager and the way it works at his company is:
HR has a hiring budget that is handed down to them by someone on the financial side.
If my husband needs to hire he will go to HR to ask for a position to be opened up.
HR will either say no or say yes and then give him part of that budget based on market research.
He then does interviews and will offer someone a job within the budget he was given.
Also, once a year he gets to do performance reviews where again he is given a budget that gets to be spread around his team as raises. When deciding who gets how much he takes in account:
    Time at the company
    Impact on the team
What are other people on the team being paid (you don't want someone brand new to be making more than someone who has been on the team for a long time and you also don't want people in the same role making significantly more than another)
If giving them a certain amount will take them over the line to the next level (i.e a junior engineer may be at their pay cap for that level and giving them more will put them at an associate level and are they ready for associate responsibilities?)
If he thinks he didn't get enough of a budget from HR he can go back to them and be like "I want this much and these are the reasons why" and he may or may not be granted an extra amount. So, managers do not have total control over an employee's salary. They can do their best with what they are given and can try to argue for more but ultimately they don't control the budget.
Also, I didn't get a degree but I'm working as a software engineer. I went to a bootcamp and did a ton of self learning so that I could compete with other people who did have a degree. It definitely put me at a disadvantage but was not impossible. Now I work for a great company that pays me well, has good benefits, and is super chill. Best job I've ever had.

Best advice my father told me years ago... When you sell a product in a store that you own or for an employer remember that along with that sale... is your name and honor in the business world. If you attach yourself to a product you need to make sure it is worthy of your name and honor as an individual.
I could never sell a product I had not studied, seen proper testing to verify claims and looked into complaints and poor business practices.
Sadly many of these people are for the first time experiencing positive work bombing which makes them feel more educated and important in the business world. When the new wears off or they become unhappy they go looking for that same business model because they want that initial social high and hype.

LOVE what you had to say about college and all the other options available. My two daughters are just about the age where they start trying to decide what to do after HS and with their next 40 yrs in the workforce and it's STRESSFUL. I will support and love them regardless of how they decide to proceed. Not everyone needs to go to college and others really should ❤️

Strange how you’ve now become connected w/anti-kj community! The fact you openly called kj out will get you kudos for sure! (& who knows what from kj!). Love your stuff!

I’ve been keto for five years (it changed my life) and you never ever have to add external ketones. Your body makes them all on its own. I am particularly disheartened that folks are capitalizing on the keto success stories of people like me who never bought a single “keto”supplement.

LOL, the red head boss babe had me cracking up! What is it with so many of these MLM reps who come with such attitude, cussing, saying pity the haters, etc, and having to defend themselves! If it's such an amazing business, then why do so many of them post these exact type of videos, having to defend their direct sales companies? If the opportunity is so amazing and freeing as they claim, it should be all sunshine and rainbows!!

My Mom used to have a friend who wrote stuff like "pitty the haters", "top all my haters" etc on FB while being a single mom, working 4 jobs and skipping meals because her Baby Daddy didn't pay child support and i always thought "Girl, your only enemy is sleep and maybe your ex, wtf are you talking about?!". I don't understand the mindset of imagining haters when in fact nobody cares, not even the people who should. (She's better now btw, still the same shit on social media but now everyone wants to be her in her mind lol)

There are still enough people that push the college thing right after high school, but that's not as much of a thing. I don't understand how people can push the college thing without teaching their kid(s) what a minimum wage job offers. Including the different types of hours, part time, full time, the different types of seasonal jobs. Then teach about what a salary job is. Also don't forget to teach what the different kinds of contracted jobs are. Ride share and delivery drivers are different from other contracted employment jobs and the mlm contracted job is different than all of them. Plus teach them that being under 25 is a more expensive as an adult. A lot of places/companies charge an extra fee for adults under 25. Back not too long ago, adults got cut off from their parents health insurance at the age of 18 and there was no pay an extra fee to keep their young adult on their plan back then. I learned about all of this (except for the under 25 thing) from my parents 'cause I asked them and they wanted to talk about this stuff. It's not that great of a thing to just know that when you become an adult, you go to college/vocational school and or get a job and if they have a job, pay taxes. That's not enough to know i.m.o. People should know about the different types of job hours since we see a lot of mlmers that haven't had a job outside of the mlm and they don't understand minimum wage jobs (part time, full time, different types of seasonal jobs), a salary job, and they also don't understand the different types of contracted employment jobs either. If they knew that, then they'd probably ask "How much do I get paid for (and list each thing they'd do) and for each hour I work"? And ask "What kind of benefits are offered for this job"? Then a mlm wouldn't sound like a job to have as their main job.

When these huns are supposedly a "product of the product" yet they don't look like the products work at all, it's comical and a little sad. Monat huns should have glorious, unicorn hair. The Pruvit huns should all be a single digit size (I'm NOT fat shaming, just pointing out the obvious) same with the BB huns. The BB ones should be in the best shape and healthiest inside and out, right? I mean, if you've been in these MLMs for multiple years especially, and you've been using the products faithfully, you should be the best "after" model ever.

    • @elizaham3189

@Katia Fair enough. But if they were drinking ketones all day like most of them are, and the ketones were doing what they supposedly are supposed to be doing, these Huns wouldn’t have an ounce of fat on them. Hence why I said a single digit size. I’m not sharing a single digit size is the only size that’s healthy.
