    On "Through the wire" Kanye called himself a "Grown ass kid" and ever since he released that im seeing it more and more through him. Kanye i feel is the most forward-thinking innovative artist in music today, but hes also the most childish in his demeanor. I just dont argue with kanye or watch his interviews anymore cause i feel he will provide something new for the people that we will enjoy once again. Im just gonna let Ye be Ye in the meantime

    The bottom line is the fashion industry is telling him that he CANT do something. Kanye has a passion for it and theyre holding him back from being great.Its similar to when labels didnt want to sign him as a rapper because he was a producer ( marginalizing him) until roc a fella gave him a shot and he went on to becoming one of the greatest ever....

    • @KonKyoshi
      @KonKyoshi 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The whole point is that it's his fault for choosing to be so wild and outspoken. They didn't want to sign him as a rapper because they thought he couldn't rap. So he proved them wrong right? In this case they don't want to "sign" him because he acts too irrational. So how does he need to do? Prove them wrong. But in this case his image has already been tarnished so you can't really compare it to his being a producer problem when he first started out.

      What he needs to do is start at the bottom and create his own company. The off the strength of work if what he creates is good, get some money behind it and break into the industry. Apple started out of a small space in a small house. He needs to start small and make it great as well.

      @WhenItsHalfPastFive 11 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      He signed a contract with a company to let him design, and give the production capabilities. He did his job. It was solely the company's right to price them, and Ye and had no power over that. What is your problem here? Explain why all of the worlds problems are because of Kanye. fucking sheep.

    • @WhenItsHalfPastFive

    We're living in an age where gatekeepers are becoming less and less necessary. I think that Kanye could benefit from taking the path of completely doing everything on his own, even if he's spending his own money. He'd be able to have total control, which seems to be what he wants anyway.

      I've noticed that kinda happens sometimes. Feefo can have his moments of vision sometimes. The yeezys have almost singlehandedly brought Adidas into competition with Nike. Before that shoe, noone gave a fuck about the brand. Now, they're very much on the same level as far as influence goes

    • @Chrisratata
      @Chrisratata 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Fe Mon they weren’t arguing against what Kanye was capable of tho, and neither was Sway. All they were saying was that Kanye’s antics had a lot to do with why he got “blackballed.” And whether the fashion industry marginalized him or not, Kanye literally had millions of fans and millions of dollars to invest in whatever he wanted to on his own if no one else was willing to back him. If he believes in himself and his worth that much and is convinced that he’s the next whoever then stop bitching about it, just do it.

    I love DEHH, but someone please explain to me how Kanye screaming at Sway is any different then Myke's hypocritical ass (still love u tho C-Town lmao) throwing a 15 minute big little kid temper tantrum in the Lil B review and calling Ken retarded (while insulting mentally challenged kids btw) and telling him he's full of shit in front of company, JUST because he disagreed with his opinion on an ALBUM.
    I'll tell you, the only difference is that Kanye's tantrum was more catchy.
    "YOU AIN'T GOT THE ANSWERS SWAY" > "YOU'RE FUCKING FULL OF SHIT KEN"
    Myke at 10:30 in the Lil B video made me feel more awkward then any Ye tantrum. Respect to Ken for not choking out a grown man screaming in his face lmfaoooooooooo.

    10 years from now, people are gonna look back appreciate Kanye's music and his approach way more than we do. They are gonna go back and look at Kanye performing live on stage with a beat machine playing samples live on stage while rapping to runaway. They are gonna listen to his visual album runaway, or late orchestration, and wish that they could attend a yeezus or glow in the dark concert. Kanye's albums are experiences! His productions ranges from samples of soul classics to guitar and electronic music. If you think about the feeling you get when listening to his albums on the day it drops, who else gives you that experience? Rap literally had no type of creative albums like that when Kanye first album dropped since the pharcyde and tribe were dropping albums. Rap just started to get rappers like J cole, cudi, wale, and kendrick over the past 3-4 years. Before that all we had was trap, drug and club music with a handful of rappers rapping about something different. So since rap can be considered a black culture, I really do believe Kanye pushed the bar for blacks to raise their creativity. Some people developed more creative schemes for their album, some people created more creative raps. But kanye has influenced rap in the past 10 years more than anybody.

    • @chickenwityamz
      @chickenwityamz 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My message is for those who can read and comprehend. No where in my "rant" did I ever mention Kanye coming up with Trap. I said the sound of hiphop at that time was a majority trap, drugs, and club(not too different from now with exception to those great artist I mentioned). The term trap and genre actually has been around for years prior to T.I. T.I was the first to specifically call his music trap music(his first album). UGk and 3 6 been making trap music long before tip so don't take what he said in an interview out of context.
      Secondly, I never dismissed everybody's creativity prior to Ye. Notice i said "since" tribe and pharcyde. So i was giving reference to a time period, not just those two different groups genius .That era is the golden age of hiphop. Each coast had there own sound, gfunk in the west, southern sound, the midwest, and the east coast.
      You do realize sampling is the essence of hiphop when it comes to production don't you? It's not always sampling the singer's voice, but you could take the drums or the acoustic guitar etc from genre. However, soul music and jazz has always been the meat and potatoes to hiphop. I hope you learned something..

    • @Chrisratata
      @Chrisratata 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's nice and all but part of their point was that Kanye would be appreciated a lot more in the here and now if he wasn't so publically whiny about being appreciated.
      There's a reason your first sentence is largely true: because 10 years from now, there's a good chance he won't be ranting as much. Kanye loses a lot of people by Kanye trying to demand their appreciation, instead of just letting his work speak for itself.

    What Kanye is saying is yeah I can start from the bottom, but why should I have to. And why should I have to design urban clothes, because from the beginning of Kanye's career he's never fit the mold of a "urban rapper". He got called names for wearing polo shirts and tight pants when rappers was wearing all bagging shyt, it just so happen the hip hop started conforming (as far as style) to what he and jay were wearing, there trend setters.

Then after that Fab,Meek, Tyga, Stalley, Waka and countless others came out the fuckin wood work wearing that shyt.

      And...? That doesn't make Kanye's whining any less annoying. He's not guaranteed success in another industry just because he's Kanye West. All they were saying is that he should rise above whatever resistance he's facing and make his own lane. Getting a cosign would be great but he doesn't NEED them to succeed; he's got the platform to make it on his own if he really wants to.

    I disagree with 75% of what y'all said in this video, but I completely understand your POV's... EXCEPT for what Ken said @ 17:52 is just stupid.
    That's subconsciously Ken's "Oh, hes a mainstream guy, he doesn't put as much thought into his projects the way underground artists do" biased state of mind coming thru lol.
    Shit, the damn hook to On Sight explains it
    "He gives us what we need, Though it *may not be what we want*" Hes not doing damage control now, he knew damn well the Hip Hop community wasn't gonna be fucking with Yeezus since before he even put out the album.
    Check back to his 808's interviews, he knows what people want from him, that traditional Hip Hop sound, but like Hov said in TBC interview, Ye is the guy in Hip Hop that runs over the hill first, that guy that takes the heat first, then the rest follow. Which is what he did with 808's, he knew it would be polarizing, but if it wasn't for the that album, we wouldn't have guys like Frank Ocean and Drake that came thru to perfect the sound Ye started with 808's.
    The Yeezus era is basically 808's Part 2. But then again, Ken hates 808's so I should expect that bias hahaha.

    I love Deadend hip hop but you guys really showing your age on this one. Actually all the so called ranting that Kanye is doing got him a sit down meeting with LV. He lost 13 mill, well actually 30 mill doing a women's clothing line. He interned at Fendi for crying out loud. How many rappers or even actors would've interned? The Yeezys sold more than the new Jordans the month they were released. The only Jordans that sell now are the retros. When was the last time u seen a nigga in some team Jordans? He also has done two shoes with LV as well. It's not that they don't want to do business with him cause they have, but Like Kanye said, if it wasn't for Jay & Dame co signing him no matter how hot his beats were no one would've taken him serious. Same goes for fashion. And Myke he has no control over the prices, just cause he's Kanye West doesn't mean he can call Nike and say naw I want this to be $50 dollars. They wouldn't even give him royalties, what makes you think he can control prices? Come on now. I love u guys, but y'all really failed to do your research on this topic.

      @Jack1uptone 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah,i don't think people really know what Kanye has learned about the fashion industry.I doubt he could control the price to those T Shirts.Kanye is trying to do it in a way that's never been done by a black man or a rapper.He want a real house hold name fashion design.Just as big as gucci,fendi,nautica,and etc.People sayin he need to just put in the work and start from the bottom but everything he's been doin fa years already like being an intern at fendi,all the time and things he been doin in paris,designing the yeezys and the success with that,loosing 13 million dollars trying to get things moving,and goin on all these interviews and rants is actually part of him starting from the bottom and the process to what he needs to do to eventually see things happen.

    • @Chrisratata
      @Chrisratata 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nah. Bottom line is they were saying that Kanye should stop being a baby about it all and just man up his own money to create his own lane. At no point were they saying that Kanye couldn't be successful at creating fashion, they were simply advising him to - no pun intended - just do it. Yes, having a cosign from reputable brands is extremely helpful at catapulting the start but just because he's Kanye West doesn't guarantee him that head start...and either way doesn't guarantee him success either. If he's confident in what he can do then he can put up the money and take the time to do so...if it doesn't work out then that's life; if it does work out, then he never needed the cosign anyway.
      Again, at no point were they arguing that Kanye couldn't succeed. They were simply saying that he needs to be and can be the one to make it happen. They weren't denying the resistance, they were advising him to rise above it.

So he wants to join an already established company for that reason. I really thought these dudes were going to actually look at the statements he has been saying. This might as well be tmz. People see that Kanye makes great music and that he has millions of dollars. We can't fathom Kanye progressing to the next step, we want him to be happy and content with his money. It's not only the fashion industry, it's the world. I don't think he is trying to be the people's savior by exposing how we are being used on the daily to keep the billionaires wealthy.But I do believe he wants people to be aware of certain dilemmas in society. I believe that in whatever realm Kanye enters, that he can be successful. When he spoke on the connections that certain types of people have, it blew my mind. People have gotten killed for speaking like that, but it was true. He has a hidden message on yeezus that wasn't even in english that blew my mind. While his lyrics are very direct, his messages still make you engage in deep thought if you are listening. People bash him and say hes complaining like a bitch but deep down people really do wish that they could be as passionate and confident as Kanye.

    What it comes down to is Kanye wants that finish line ribbon without running the race. You have to think about the top designers. Where did these guys start? What did they do in the beginning? Study what they did. If you want to be great like them, then model your path after theres. No; instead Kanye wants to just go straight to them and tell them to work with him. But who are you to them? What have you done in the fashion world? How many years have you worked with your mind focused on only fashion and worked day and night on creative designs? To put it in to perspective: Could a rapper with 3 songs walk up to Kanye West and tell him to sign him off of those 3 songs? Would Kanye take him seriously? Everyone doesn't have Trinidad James luck. And even with that luck, the industry despises you because you didn't put in the work that they have.

    • @yandibreaux1535
      @yandibreaux1535 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Kanye attempted that race but fell losing 13 million dollars. The fashion industry is NO joke; its a survival of the fittest kind of business. Kanye is going to have to settle with co-venturing with already established designer labels like all the other rappers, because he isn't cut out for what those designer do.
      He needs to understand that there is no easy way up that corporate latter. By his very stressful reactions lately it seems like he getting it.

      Losing that much money proves he didn't know what he was doing. I agree that there's no easy way up that corporate latter. I believe he could do it, but he'd just have to work on it for just as long as he worked on his music career. And let's face it, it doesn't look like he's willing to put in the time to do that.

    • @yandibreaux1535
      @yandibreaux1535 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JustDavid0823 Like you brilliantly stated, its a race Kanye wants to win without running. I don't know if its his ego or what but longstanding fashion lines aren't born overnight. There is no medal for brief participation! I agree with you somewhat that Kanye can pull it off. He just needs time and an attitude adjustment to prevent him from burning bridges. Yet if all else fails, lets hope he pulls out before he bankrupts himself!

    • @Souledgex1
      @Souledgex1 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a flaw in your analogy. You said Kanye won't sign off on a rapper with 3 songs but the rapper in your analogy is probably just a run-of-the-mill up-and-comer, but the difference is that Kanye is a "rap rock star", very relevant in pop culture, and has already proven himself with the Yeezy's and he doesn't understand why he can't get a deal or meeting when he has so much influence already.

    • @JustDavid0823
      @JustDavid0823 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Souledgex1 - I'm not denying he's a "rap rock star", but to a fashion designer, Kanye West is a run-of-the-mill up-and-comer. He did not prove himself to the top fashion designers with Yeezy's because Yeezy's are urban based and not high fashion. My analogy was pointing out that Kanye has not put in the time and sweat as the other designers. He might have influence, but it only reaches a specific market and that's a different market than Vera Wang or Tom Ford are in.

    - Ye's deal includes royalties and the ability to price his shoes. Will he make them more affordable? Can he afford to cut prices with a company that makes 10x less sales than Nike.
    - Addidas are known for doing collaborations with designers and doing more smart/fashion shoes (eg Yohji Yamamoto colab, Porsche, Adidas slvr etc) so will they allow Ye to finally give us a less urban and more designer looking shoe (other than the Giuseppe Zanotti collaborations) so we can see what hes talking about?

    I've commented this on another video before, but just to elaborate, here it is again:
    look at all these sheep Kanye haters in these comments. It's hilarious. Listen. Listen to what he is talking about. Comprehend it. And understand that he is not saying anything offensive. He is trying to point out the bigoted minds involved big industries, that do not allow newcomers to make product, even when they KNOW the product is in high demand. Why? Because they are afraid. Ye is showing everyone why these high places in these industries are afraid, and are just hypocrites who aren't actually creatives, but just people in power, trying to maintain their power at all costs.
    "You got the power to let power go?" - Power by Kanye.
    This is a new generation of creatives. A generation of creatives that have more opportunities than ever. And the people in power are afraid. Yet they still hold the ability to produce, they have the production intelligence. So they have the ability to stop creatives (something that Kanye is trying to become).

      4. He did not price those t-shirts
      5. He is insulting the companies because their heads are hypocrites who do not care about creating better product, they do not want newcomers into the business, because they are afraid. They hold the production capabilities, but only let new creatives design on a small scale.
      6. You should probably learn some grammar rules, and re-write your comment so normal people can comprehend it.

    When people go on press runs they always have bullet points that they want to go over they are generally aware of the questions they will be asked and what they want to talk about if you notice many celebrities say the same things on radio shows. If you optimize your message's efficiency by wording it the exact way that you want it to be said then you will make sure you know it like the back of your hand. A lot of people are not just people they're teams and brands and as such they want their marketing and ideas to be consistent thus there's a loose script.

The guy knows what he's doing but he does have a very melodramatic personality that I find a bit too much, especially when he rants in interviews. As an artist, Ye should stick to the roots of his success, his music. Can Kanye make clothes? Yes. Can he do high fashion? Maybe a little. Is his strength urban clothing? Yes.
    The problem with Kanye in this situation (whether he's being marginalized or not) is that he's trying to get a start at the finish line. Nike [although they have their ethical issues] started from the bottom, up. Apple started from the bottom, up. So did Ralph Lauren. Kanye has more money NOW than when those companies first STARTED. Since he's Kanye & he's in the public, he doesn't want to have to start from a ground level, which is his problem.
    High fashion doesn't have a door. Ralph Lauren and Louie aren't closing it on you, unless you're trying to do work WITH them. If they don't want you, regardless, that's their choice. I'm not that into high fashion, but I'm definitely surrounded by it, and his image does not relate to high fashion. When you think of characters of high fashion, you think of Harvey Specter (from Suits), Neal Caffrey (from White Collar)...David Beckham...whoever. They all have confident, yet not brash or loud or immature appeal. Are they all white? Are some racist? Of course. There are wolves in the world, but he's crying wolf, when he's the reason for his own detriment. Yeah, but that doesn't take away from the others. Him being cocky, self-entitled, and belligerent in public isn't helping his cause, because that image doesn't relate. High fashion has to sell. High fashion isn't "loud" in how it looks either. There's nothing wrong with doing urban clothing. Shoot, Nike is urban clothing, which he's said. But he wants to be "Apple". Greedy. So instead of taking a great lane for him, that he would THRIVE in, he won't take any.

      nah I disagree, jay is not like that kanye looks up to jay as a big brother, even wrote a song dedicated to jay on the graduation album, jay cares about kanye, and whose to say that behind the scenes jigga isn't giving kanye advice, but kanye has such a big ego that even jay's advice could get ignored. I would really be shocked and would lose all respect for jay if he doesn't give a damn about kanye's mental state and what's going on with him internally, I mean at some point it has to be more than just about making money and living it up!
