Wayno, Fivio is getting the results he was looking if you ask me. If you publicly endorse Torey Lanez you have to know there will be backlash. A better question is why does he want that kind of heat?
Foreal foreal, no one outside of NY and tri-cities is checking for him. He lied about being old, and he didn’t take the ball when Pop Smoke died. His music isn’t really like that.
Your boy Ak influenced that. The complete biased views influenced by who’s paying him Need more people whobare prominent providing credible music reviews that aren’t financially incentivized and really love hip hop
You can blame Akademiks for changing the culture - not in a good way. When I bought Ice Cube's Death Certificate on Day 1, no one cared about first week sales, no one instantly said 'TRASH' - everyone gave it time to breathe. Akademiks destroyed this and introduced 'if first week sales are bad, it's a flop'. And everyone had to be first to deliver their review, even though a decent album can take ten listens to sink in. The modern hop hop era is ASS.
There is a lot of positivity out there on the internet, unfortunately the negativity is what is most noticeable. Just look at most of your comments on your work. Most of it is positive but the negativity can be overwhelming.

I taught in juvenile detention places for almost 10 years. 1, it was filled with mostly males, 2, black males, 3, black males who were primarily into hip-hop, 4, black males who were primarily into violent hip-hop. It’s a complicated issue. We are dealing with a people who are ignored by the system, lack of resources meaning not just money but the lack of interest to seek knowledge that allows one to seek information needed to gain that knowledge. Mostly, lack of interest in the self, discovering the self. Yes black men need to take accountability but in order to do so you need to have that interest in yourself to understand there is more to you than you think. When you live in poverty it’s not about money, it’s about your mind. Your mind will not allow you to see yourself any further than your environment, EVEN when you get out of that poverty. That’s why some rappers end up in jail. Their mind hasn’t allowed them to get out of the hood, in their heads they are still in the hood. Unconsciously, they still live in the fear of poverty. It’s a complicated situation.

This book I’m reading offers an interesting theory as to why so much negativity online. It argues that people on social mimic the behavior of what is perceived as prestige whether it’s a celebrity or influencer. In the comments they see what gets the prestige and that’s negativity so that’s what they try and emulate. Mix that new social norm with a lack of social awareness previous generations mastered and you have folk who say and do wild shit they’d never do in real life

I feel like half the rappers mention I dont even know like that. No slight to them but they are going to jail before they give themselves a chance to blow up. They make 500k buy a house and don’t even get to move in. I also thought Tay K, Ynw melly, kodak at any given moment are the darker side of this list.
I think sometimes people just have opinions and if you want to make them simplify them into a binary, some will be negative. Not everybody want to hear everything from everybody and that means some people are going to be negative. I think we notice it more and the algorithms promote it more, they can monotize discord better than they can monotize unity. But also, people make stuff w the hope their fans will receive it and if someone has done something the larger public doesn't like, their fan base will be drowned out by people wanting them to be silenced. Punishment and disfavor is a valid consequence and social media is receptive to that.
It isn't just these rappers themselves though, it is their labels and the people who encourage them to promote and incite this behavior. Don't get me wrong, these rappers need to be held accountable, but we need to hold the ones who are allowing them to even speak the way they are speaking. They benefit from this greatly when an artist gets locked up, beefs or dies. They walk back into the shadows after the artists gets that negative spotlight on them and then they act like nothing is wrong because they are just the distribution. We need to look into these executives, promoters, label owners and see who they are tied to and who really benefits from all this destruction.
A lot of people are miserable, honestly. Chronically online, don't have actual friends that care about their opinion, so they think people on the internet want to hear what they have tonsay, even though they are usually parroting the same shit over and over. People find joy in negativity because they lack something in their lives and it brings in revenue for those with podcasts and screamers but the latter two are framed as "entertainment" depending on who the Podcaster and streamer is. 🥴
If you want positive responses to music, perhaps you shouldn’t work with negative people. A man who shot at a woman and was convicted for it, isn’t a positive person.
