I mean ryobi is great, and if flex is truly claiming they are the best and ryobi is only a few seconds behind it’s a really good testament to ryobi

That mean Ryobi is the only one that keep up with the Milwaukee Killer, Milwaukee Destroyer King of tool Flex. It's so funny to see that most of the DeWalt, Makita guys, Milwaukee boys, Bosch fans criticize and make fun of Ryobi saying "Not a Contractor Grade tool" until all of them got beaten by an Outsider Flex, and Ryobi the so called "Not a Contractor Grade tool" is the only one that can keep up with the Monster Flex The Milwaukee Destroyer and Milwaukee Killer. So yeah Ryobi deserves some Respect and Props. And that is a Nas Lak!
Mad respect to the ryobi. I actually really want that drill, but you can definitely hear that the flex has more power.

This test perfectly illustrated the difference between PRO and DIY. There's a huge difference between the two. I love to watch you try, so I can make educated decision.
That was incredibly close on the concrete. Good for Ryobi and their HP line. It really didn't do poorly on the stump, either - like you said, it's a comparison but no "loser" here really.
The Ryobi and the Flex would beat the Milwaukee on that concrete test.

Ryobi has really tried to step up their quality. A lot of people used to view Ryobi as throw away quality but they have really worked to step up their quality and try to make the best homeowner-contractor grade brand. Specially the HP line.

It's a huge difference when the loads get heavier. In small drilling and driving applications, there's not a usable "real" difference, but if we step up to big twist or auger bits....
Flex would last a lot longer on the job site, but this video was to test out the power between the two as sort of fresh tools

If you watched the launch event you'd know that these flex tools do have like a variable torque feature. The impact wrench will kill the power down when it senses less tension so you don't drive out the nut too fast. these tools are something else man.

Pricing information was really sorely needed here. You can see in the comments how people were so impressed with Ryobi's performance, and having a clear price comparison included in the video would only have increased that sense of value. I don't share in their sentiments, and was wowed by the Flex's performance, honestly, but if you want your channel to be a 'go-to' source for information, you have to include all purchasing considerations. I've got two of the brushed Ryobi drills ,they've been through hell ,even that hot you can't hold them and they still keep going.Btw that Ryobi did really well in this test imo.

Well I am heavily invested in DeWalt and Ridgid tools they pretty much cover all my needs and then some but I will say the New Ryobi line of tools has sparked my interest I have never owned a Ryobi tool before this may be my first tool to try ? I will say the one thing I like about Ryobi is that neon green color is one of my favorite colors too and being a hi-vis color is good for the job site it’s another reason I like DeWALT tools and that bright Yellow or Ridgid’s Orange color is easy to see even in low light conditions also nice review 👍

Great video! I wonder how the prolonged use of turbo will affect the tool/battery over time. I would have liked to see them compete without the turbo mode to see if that was the only reason it had the advantage.

@@ppwipf6935 seeing how there have been many other holes drilled with other channels, Flex beat Milwaukee, Dewalt, and Makita. I don’t remember if he had the turbo on for Flex but my guess is that he didn’t.

Hey I haven't seen a vs video between the Milwaukee gen 3 hammer drill and the new Ryobi HP hammer drill. I speak for alot of us when I say wed appreciate it if you made that video

I'd love to see a video of you running the ryobi through tests once with the 4ah standard and then again with 4ah hp battery, I want to see how much of a difference the hp makes in your testing.

Ryobi HP vs. Milwaukee hammer drilling would be a hell of a video I've compared the m12 fuel to the m18 fuel (both the newest models) and there seems to be no apparent difference. The m12 is much newer and not beaten on yet but is just a hair faster.

Great video bro! Can’t help but wonder what would happen if you used 21700 cell battery for both drills. Maybe the same DeWalt battery via adapters? I know there isn’t an adapter for the DeWalt to flex yet. But when there is it would be an awesome test. Anyway, Ryobi surprised me I’m glad I own that drill. Thanks again!

The Flex is definitely better. But the kit at Lowes is $250. The Ryobi kit is $180. But the Flex also comes with a 2.5 extra battery. It's up to the buyer to decide weather its worth it. The Ryobi kit for that performance is impressive.

Depending on what you need, Ryobi has over 200+ tools that run off of the same battery platform. The Flex doesn’t have have that many tools out yet.
So the Ryobi which is a DIY grade tool is outperformed by a "pro grade" tool which is expected. For the difference to be as minimal as it was in most cases is what shows that the FLEX while performing better isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I haven't gotten any 18volt or higher power tools yet. I'm on the m12 platform but gonna have to go bigger. Thinking dewalt or flex.

there is a flex drill with 750 in lbs that should be more in line with the ryobi 750 in lbs not the flax with 1400 in lbs you should compare them
Sooo the flex about on par with ryobi or would you rate it higher? I’d like to see the flex up against makita. Also do you have a vid on the black makita compact drill/impact I’ve thought about getting those and makita xt281s I’m curious about both those makita models.
Imo Flex is showing it has its own class in between. I would also like to see Flex and Makita 40v. Makita is built to get the job done not necessarily the fastest, but efficient. I just bought the Makita 40v Hammer Drill and Impact Driver, should be here tomorrow. I have the Makita Xph14 hammer drill and the xdt16 impact driver, both amaze me how comfortable and enjoyable they are to use.

As for me RYOBI is the tool I'll buy.
Ill take ryobi since they have such a massive and cool line of tools!
Again, I am impressed more by Ryobi holding it’s own being it is targeted towards the DIY person whereas this top level Flex is aimed to the pros
And yes, please give the current prices. I know there can be “specials” in prices but I do think for comparison, especially between a DIY tool vs a pro tool it can really show the “power to value” ratio.
The Flex kit, with a 5 and 2.5ah batteries and their quick charger was listed at $249 at Lowe’s. The Ryobi kit with a single 4ah battery and their standard charger was $179. So the Flex is $70 more but you are getting an extra battery and the quick charger and a pro-level tool.
The Flex non-turbo hammer drill kit is $199 which I believe Chervon markets more as a “prosumer” tool and to me is a more equal comparison to Ryobi and I’d like to see that head to head test.
Also - Ryobi has a kit for $229 that also includes their HP impact driver and adds an extra 2ah battery in a full 2-tool kit.

When are you doing a full versus video versus the flex with 8amp battery vs power detect
i feel like you should use 6ah HP battery for these tests, since 6ah is literally the same weight as 4ah, but it offers 25% more power (torque and speed)
I think we all know these two aren’t in the same class. Ryobi does have some great tools and continue to get better. I don’t think the 9 Ah battery would have made enough difference for Ryobi speed wise but would have been able to finish all tasks and it could have been enough to beat out Flex on the cement. Flex really does belong in the same class as Milwaukee and Dewalt even though people have massive hate for Flex right now lol

wow, I wish we had 24V drills in Germany. Flex does exist, but only offers 18V drills with less power compared to Ryobi at a similar price and no real deals.
Ryobi stopping is just the BMS inside the battery cutting out due to over amping

So when I’m looking at battery specs. Which number is the one that tells me how much power output the tool is getting? Volts, Watt Hours, Amp Hours?
It's hard. They don't usually specify peak current on the case or specs. That's why all of us keep tearing them open to see the cell type. And within cell types there are different current ratings available. Amp hours and watt hours are really a capacity comparison. But they don't tell you the maximum rate you can deplete that capacity. Kinda sucks you're stuck hoping the tool company marketing will tell you, e.g. High Output, Ultimate Output, HP, etc. Flex doesn't even differentiate.
Unfortunately none of those will tell you, closest would be voltage x amphours but that doesn't tell you anything worthwhile (you need voltage x highest sustained discharge in amps, and that will give you watts which is a measurement of "power"). What you need to tell how much power a tool would get is the the discharge rate the Batteries can sustain and that will be in the spec sheet of the battery cells themselves.
You can also measure horsepower. For the electric motors, we can calculate the power or horsepower from the torque and speed. For example, if we have a motor with 3,000 rpm and 6 in-lbf then the horsepower can be calculated below.
Horsepower = 300×6/63025
i.e. horsepower = 0.286
Here, 6/3025 is a constant when using rpm for speed and in-lbf for torque units.
Watt hours pound for pound
@@paedahe4975 horsepower is like 20 years not the number to use. Its Kilowatts my friend. Especially in racing and tuning nobody use Horsepower since OBD and that is being here since 1990...

I wonder why Flex has a turbo button, why not just have the tool always fast and powerful? Does it have to do with battery consumption? Maybe do a battery longevity test with turbo on and off. That would be pretty informational.

Nicely done. I am betting the Flex could beat the Ryobi even if you used a 9ah battery in the Ryobi and kept the 5ah in the Flex. It does appear the only area the Flex struggles is in the concrete.
Not to mention flex needs turbo on in order to compete with ryobi. If ryobi had a turbo it would smoke it

Wow! I can't believe that this new Ryobi HP Hammer drill can keep up with the so called "Milwaukee Killer" Flex, can keep up also with DeWalt, Bosch and Makita wow! No wonder why I purchased HP bundle kit the HP Brushless 4 speed impact driver and the HP Brushless Hammer Drill kit it comes with 4ah HP Battery, a charger and green Ryobi Tool Bag God Im loving the color green. And since the new HP 6.0Ah battery came out I purchased the new 6.0Ah battery it's exactly the same size as the 4ah with added extra punch I hope Ryobi can slim and compacted a 9.0Ah battery with 21,700 cells in there or at least Ryobi should made a 12Ah 18V battery! Wow! Awesome! BUT STILL!! I'm not Loyal to any tool brand! So far I'm using DeWalt, Bosch, Makita and Hitachi in my jobsite as a Contractor, Carpenter, Framer, Deck builder, Electrician and Welder. And now I got some new Ryobi I'm using them in my jobsite as well! Who cares! They can laugh at me for using Ryobi they didn't know my box truck is full of DeWalt, Bosch, Makita and Hitachi tools inside. I hope Ryobi will consider making a Magnesium Worm Drive or Hypoid Saw! Corded! Or Hybrid! Also Ryobi should consider to make a Cordless 18V brushless Framing Nailer!!! Ridgid already have one! Why Ryobi Can't?! Since the new HP Rotary hammer drill SDS came out.
I don't know about the Flex but the Ryobi is a monster, as in big and weighty. The Flex appears to be somewhat more compact and a lot more powerful. If I was in a business that needed a hammer drill, for the extra bucks, the Flex would be in my tool box. I own Ryobi but using the same line of batteries wouldn't matter. It's about getting the job done, and without creating a lot of heat which should equate to a long lasting tool... sorry Ryobi lovers but the Flex wins.

Which Ryobi is that? I think it’s only rated at 725 inch pounds, compared to the Flex, which is rated at 1400 inch pounds.
By the way, the Dewalt 996 has a pretty short handle too.

For my money, and usage case I'll keep using Ryobi. If I were doing this stuff for a living I'd for sure have to switch to the Red or Yella folks.

I'm 99% sure that with a 5ah Ryobi could made the first hole, I'm now curious to see what would happen if u do it with the 5ah battery
Plus... I'm more impressed with the Ryobi keeping up with only 2 tests failed... The rest went over without breaking the sweat
The tests were great to watch, but it would've been cool to see without turbo, because a lot of the time I wouldn't be using turbo. Just because it's there doesn't mean you use it all the time

I have the Milwaukee third gen DeWalt 996 and the kobalt xtr and my flex is the most powerful followed by the DeWalt then Milwaukee then kobalt
In almost every vs video you can tell whose gonna win. Like in a incident like this Ryobi lost kinda bad in the first couple test

Wait, you'll use turbo mode on the Flex because it has that benefit but you won't switch to speed 1 on the Ryobi? Speed 1 is just another option the drill has just like a turbo mode is an option on the Flex. I know I've seen some of your other video's where you will give a drill a chance by switching speeds or options but sometimes you don't.

Because people are idiots these days and hate everything that comes out without any valid reason. Especially if thier favorite TH-camr hates something they just blindly follow like morons. No one can actually think for themselves.
They get hate because most of their tools are not bare tools and they make you buy a kit for each one. I ❤️ them personally but still haven’t pulled the trigger due to price being steeper than red and yellow brands.
