I was late for my political science class on September 11th 2001 my Senior year in high school. Aaliyah's self titled cd was playing in my 98 VW Golf the song playing was "We Need A Resolution" walked into my class and the announcement was made over the school intercom that day. Lost my cousin and best friend in The September 11th attacks. And aaliyahs album seriously helped me deal.

There will never be another Aaliyah or anyone like her. She died in August 2001 then September 11th happened. I was late for my political science class on September 11th 2001 my Senior year in high school. Aaliyah's self titled cd was playing in my 98 VW Golf the song playing was "We Need A Resolution" walked into my class and the announcement was made over the school intercom that day. Lost my cousin and best friend in The September 11th attacks. And aaliyahs album seriously helped me deal.

Aaliyah truly was a good artist, she wasnt a typical idea of a female singer and she was very inspirational. To this day, I can still sing along to her music and feel like I'm hearing it for the first time :)

I feel like people first off should not compare Aaliyah to any of todays stars because we have no idea what kind of music Aaliyah would make this day. She was definitly ahead of her time and my favorite artist of all time. People say Ciara is a better dancer, but Aaliyah died 10 years ago, i'm sure Ciara danced differently 10 years ago too. Aaliyah's style of dance would have advanced so much by now. Either way, she was a phenominal artist and will truly be missed.
