The first thing that came to my mind is one of my favorite meals:"Beans & Rice" and some hot water cornbread...I definitely think this is doable

Lovely, thank you
What caught my attention years ago was the allegation that there would be NO HUNGER if the entire planet were plant based. I AGREE with everything that was said in this inteview, but the unfortunate, sad thing is that this is an expensive, labor-intensive choice. So many (Americans maybe most affected) can't afford these choices. The other compounding factor is that the American palette has been shaped by industries that include addictive ingredients in their prepared food (salt, sugar). Not sure where to begin in this transition, but I know that those of us who have the resources to consider these options, need to consider the needs of those who really don't have this luxury.........but, thanks so much for opening the conversation!
So very well said, and broken down as a plant based person I absolutely do agree with you. @Markc1564
I'm sorry to disagree but it's just not true. Plant-based ingredients are by far cheaper than meat. I'm talking about whole foods, and plant-based ingredients like beans, pulses, vegetables, and rice. Being plant-based doesn't mean buying expensive highly processed foods. I don't have a high income and I've been vegan for the last 6 years. On the whole, I would say that I spend less on food than before. The main thing preventing people from trying it is mindset, not finances.
@@TheGardner22 I agree with much of what you say, however, many people who live in 'food deserts' don't have access to even those basics you refer to. Quality veget
Meant to say quality vegetables are expensive. An aside, what are pulses?
@@markc1564 Exactly.💯😐💯 There are unfortunately a lot of food deserts that aren’t discussed enough.🫤
Oprah do it please!
Just like me trying to remember 5 kids ages!
I was organic vegan for 3 years. I did it for health reasons. Unfortunately it didn’t make me healthier. My hair was breaking, my skin was off and my gut wasn’t happy. I really really tried and did it right hitting protein goals. In the end I had to switch back to eating meat and my health improved tremendously. I will always see the value in plant based eating, and can happily do that once or twice a week, but overall it just wasn’t right for me…. Beyond meat/ meat substitutes are also highly processed and I don’t see how those options are any better than potato chips so I think we need to be careful about promoting these.
