      Vinny Ru should thank God everyday it was Al and Big Bubba he did this to. Just think of what would have happened afterwards if he pulled that shit on someone like Harley Race, or Wahoo McDaniel. In a parallel universe their exists a version of this storyline in which they listened to Al about the damn dogs and this match is regarded as one of the best Hell in a Cell Matches of all time or at the very least it isn't regarded as a load of dog shit.

    • @davidmilligan8269
      @davidmilligan8269 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      lostways27 I couldn't agree more. if you think about it, this had the potential to be a visually stunning match, much like the inferno match. It was genius in theory, and with trained, Hollywood quality animals, this would have been amazing.

    • @marcpower4167
      @marcpower4167 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      In another alternate universe those dogs attacked al and boss man and they both ended up in the hospital and the dogs were euthanized.

    • @Mycroft616
      @Mycroft616 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Trained dogs AND trained handlers. One thing that further crippled the match was the handlers were more interested in watching Snow and Bossman than working the dogs. And mind you, I don't mean watching and waiting for their cue, I mean watching and enjoying two magnificent workers make something out of nothing. Even the limited training these animals had was completely wasted by their star-struck handlers.

    • @Mycroft616
      @Mycroft616 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Captain Rupertikjakmos They needed handlers no matter what. Unlike humans, animals can't read a random cue and instead require exact directions. Snow thought the handlers should be dressed as camera or audio crew stationed outside the Cell - which would have been the best way to handle it - but understood they needed a human or two to make the dogs do what they wanted them to do. That was completely missing in this event. The handlers were about 10 steps behind Snow and Bossman at all times, so what little useful reaction we got from the dogs was awkward and made the match unnatural.

    This could've been a great match that wouldve gone in history for all the right reasons and both of them would be a part of it, Instead the company didnt think far ahead and cheaped out and the results came as deserved

    The match is a good one in theory and possibly execution but the people in charge dropped the ball. Had they used trained ATTACK dogs from the same kennel it would have worked. The dogs could have on command go berserk as they the two wrestlers on the other side of the wire as attack targets. The dogs could have snarled, barked and jumped against the cage BUT could be given the instruction to stop IF a wrestler fell accidentally within their proximity.
    That would have worked great but by the brass going cheap or lazy all the two wrestlers had was a shitshow that was completely out of their control.

    Frankly, i would have done a better version. Rather than having actual dogs within the surrounds, the match is set in a open cage similar to a hell in a cell cage without a roof, the way to win is to put on a collar, muzzle and leash onto your opponent and throw your opponent into a large kennel by the stage to win. No DQ's, No Countouts, No Pins or Submissions just pure out hardcore rules.

    The angle and the match concept were both excellent, but the execution of the match itself was a mess, primarily (although not wholly) because of the unintended comedy of the dogs. King of The Road was just bad given the practicalities of wrestling in a flatbed truck and not being able to mobilise, and the fact despite the PPV being called “Uncensored”, both guys got sacked for drawing blood despite getting an exception to the “No Blading” rule.

    It was a lower card angle. They weren’t going to care enough to make sure the dogs were trained lol. The whole thing sounds like a rib.

    Al is completely right but he's a little too defensive here. I don't think anyone holds him responsible for the dogs. And, if anything, this is in the so-bad-its-classic category and outshines a lot of other less memorable stuff that happened back then. I couldn't stop laughing at his description of the actual match. For better or worse, one of the defining moments of the Attitude Era.

    I agree with Snow, if the match had had properly trained dogs it might not have made the match a 5 star classic but it likely wouldn't be topping NUMEROUS!!

    After hearing this I still think the only reason the WWF/E beat WCW is because McMahon had money.

      @@liltd87 it’s also on the network as well with JR and King’s original commentary, Ross simultaneously calls the match “bowling shoe ugly” and “one of the most unique matches I’ve seen in my life”, and when it’s all over, declares “Ladies and Gentlemen, we have just witnessed the first, and maybe the last…Kennel from Hell match!”
      Safe to say that gimmick match will not be done again!
