I’m an Event Security Officer for the Cavs. Delly was the nicest Cavs player ever. Not only did we appreciate his effort guarding Steph in the 2015 finals, but he was just an all-around genuinely sweetheart. He even liked my Australian accent when I impersonated Hugh Jackman. We miss him on the roster.

@@Jon_Chhan The Warriors & Cavaliers played 4 Finals series and no other player who defended Curry had hydration issues.
The reason why Delly had hydration and conditioning issues is because he was a bench player averaging 21.0 minutes before he was thrown into the starting lineup where he averaged 36.3 minutes.
Kyrie was injured in Game 1 and out for the series but Delly gave great effort replacing him in the starting lineup.
The next season (2016) Delly moved back to the bench. Currys primary defenders were Kyrie and JR Smith who had no hydration and conditioning issues.
Delly for his heroics got a $38 million contract from the Bucs in 2017 where they quickly found out he wasn’t as good at basketball as he appeared to be on the Cavs.

Aussie hooper here who played with Delly until his skill greatly surpassed mine… he’s genuinely the hardest and most humble guy I’ve ever met. His work ethic was insane and I knew if he was given a chance at training camp to make a roster spot, he would because of how hard he played and how he always made the right basketball play.
I like to remind people that Anthony Bennett was drafted #1 that year while Delly was undrafted yet Delly easily had the better rookie season and obviously Bennett was out of the league not long after. Shows that hard work will beat talent when talent doesn’t work hard.

I randomly played with Delli in a LA gym a season or 2 before he was in the finals and then 2 years or so later I see this dude playing in the finals with Bron against Steph and Kay n them was a surreal moment lol.. he was nice with it don't keep me wrong...definitely better than all of us but he didn't have that like... "oh, now THAT'S what an NBA player looks like when they ball out" he was just guts sheer will and determination...but again not confuse that with the fact he WAS nice with it...he wasn't just like... SLIGHTLY above average or something. But having played against an actual NBA player and seeing how good you have to be just to be considered "a scrub" or bench guy or 7th or 8th guy makes you realize just truly how good dudes like Kyrie, KD, Lillard, Kawhi, Bron truly are

One guy was a shooter, and he literally did not miss a shot for over an hour. He was taking very difficult shots as well, and a lot of them. The other guy I played with on a different occasion was a 6'8" power forward in college that was so polished with his footwork in the post it was absurd. Can't even wrap my head around the level of the higher level guys because the guys that were not even in the rotation were unguardable, and essentially didn't miss
