I started my coarse angling on the Chesterfield in Canal Road where my nan and grandad lived. I'm sorry to hear that there's an infestation of Carp in there now. Nowhere is safe from the dad blasted things. When I started in the early 60s it was Roach, Chub, Perch and Gudgeon.
There’s Birkwood Fisheries which is worth a look. Nice set of ponds with plenty of pegs on. Internet says it’s full of fish too buddy. There’s the River Calder if you’re after some flowing water and then there’s the very famous Aire and Calder Canal which is stuffed with fish. Besides those there’s a bunch of reservoirs which I’m sure offer fishing and if you’re able to drive down the M1 a few junctions there’s Fleets Dam and the mighty Worsborough Reservoir. Again, plenty of good fishing and a cracking bunch of anglers on them daily. Let me know where you go and how you get on mate. I’ll have to give Wakefield a visit and get a few venues on the channel from up there 🎣
The chaps that were catching yesterday certainly showed it too mate. Surprised to see a few bream feeding and both had caught on bread punch. Definitely got me in the mood for a session soon🎣
@thatson01 had 80lb plus of big black bream in the summer from the swim with the fallen tree plus many sessions with 100 plus smaller fish. Normally only me fishing a full stretch
@ can’t remember the name but think it was a pub that rented part of it before there is probably still the old signs up, I think they just gave it up. pretty sure it’s on the Crt waterway wanders list now
Now then. Just watched your video. What’s the chances this time of year of catching carp? I only fish for carp on lakes but I want to have a go for carp on a canal. Cheers
I’d say you’ve got a great chance mate. Definitely down near the Priory Car Park as this is where the big ones are seen often. Definitely worth a bash mate. I’ve seen a few Carp Anglers on here before and they’ve all caught in the past. If you do have any luck let me know how you get on 👍🏼🎣
To say it's full of fish in the depths of winter when no anglers are on the bank is a bit strange not calling u a liar I'm sure there is plenty in, surely spring or summer is a better time to do it when u see the fish being caught,I'm not saying stick yr camera into anglers faces but if we can see what fish are in there fair enough but to just go on yr word isn't really an audit
Spoken to 5 anglers today who have caught a few Bream, a few roach and a rogue pike. Obviously in summer it fishes its head off but now it’s got colour in it it’s producing a few fish. I’m no liar, I could have just not made the video and you could have assumed there’s no fish in it then too. Check out my other videos, I don’t blank when I say I’m looking forward to a days fishing even with snow on the floor. You’re free to assume there’s no fish in this canal though mate, I’ve caught a lot of them but I’m not going to bore you with the links👍🏼 I’ll have a session on here when it gets a bit colder and post my results. I could sit there with 30 roach in a net head and people will still say they’re lures with the trebles taken off🤣
@thatson01 as I said I'm not calling u a liar.....but anybody cud say that puddle is full of fish,it's hard in winter when the banks are empty,I'm not dissing you I do watch yr other videos no offence was ment u do a good job
I think anybody would. Not sure if that’s meant to be funny or you’re being serious but that’s a pretty obvious statement! If anybody caught more fish than talking they’d have plenty more views. Like, lots more. In fact, if I’d have said just one word in this entire video I still would have spoken more words than fish caught. If it was a fishing video then I’d have probably averaged 100 words to every bite or maybe 300 words to every fish. But it’s not a fishing video therefore making it impossible to catch any fish! But, if you read this far then you enjoy the talking👍🏼
Rhodesia Quarry Pond. I used to fish there with me dad fifty years ago. That´s where I caught my first ever fish.

Another great video 👍🏻
Cheers matey🎣
Thought it would be worth my while for the canal anglers watching. Not only that but it’s a great area for some good fishing.
I'm hopefully going to my sisters in Wakefield this spring & taking my tackle for some fishing. What's the best places to fish around the area. 🎣

Plenty of fish in the sections shown even in winter . Maggot and caster in summer . Bread punch great in winter .

@@barryanthonywing4848 personally not seen him ,but do know people who see him
@AndrewRex-tv3hl Hes up and down the full stretch of the canal.🥵🥵👍
Why don’t you take on the section above shireoaks to the tunnel on im sure the club gave it up a few years ago
Hmmm, I assumed it was still ran by a club. Any idea of which club ran it and why they stopped mate?
