Not sure about bait boats mate but if it was me giving the answer I’d happily allow it. Some areas of that lake could be suppressed so much more accurately via bait boat especially from the 2nd side. It’s a venue that makes you feel part of its mystery when you’re next to it. If you manage anything out or have a good session definitely let me know how it fished. I’ll definitely be back over for a session myself soon👏🏼

Yes mate, fully accessible all the war around. It’s a lovely walk too and plenty of bird life around the place. Bring a bit of duck/swan food too, they’ve missed us humans down here and they’re all just coming back.

​@thatson01 should have said centuries really. The tunnels date back to the late 1700s and have always controlled the level whilst it's been a fishery. As you know, the reservoir was about empty when the unfortunate incident occurred. The res is in a far different state today. There are assumptions on top water level, the amount coming out, details on sluices/penstocks and of CRT plans. Im pretty sure they had already put out a communication on the current situation with the pegs on the dam. Im sure if you ask CRT enquiries on any of the above you will be able to add more clarity to your videos

@@thatson01it’s all on the CRT website. Planning permission has been granted, however due to the overspend on the remedial work, there was insufficient budget left to complete them at the moment.

Hi Chris, I promise you on my life I’ve not removed any of your comments matey. It’s still showing to me so it’s still there. You’re not the only one, a few people have said their comments have been removed and ultimately they’re too valuable to me to delete. So last time the sluice gates have reportedly was opened too wide when fish stocks were still in the res. This resulted in a plug hole effect and they were all washed downstream and unlawfully killed. It was a huge disaster and that sluice gate needs to be forgotten about when the welfare of animals are at risk. The magnitude of water pushing through the sluice gate today is more than last time and the concern remains. If you have a flick through the comments on the last video there’s 2 chaps who are involved in the project of the reservoir and regularly correct me on the information I’m sent. That sluice gate needs keeping closed otherwise the fish are at risk and will see more deaths. Hence why the max capacity level was highlighted as the “Capacity Level” as lowering water levels would mean a risk to fish welfare. For the last 3 years I’ve made videos about what needs to be done before fish are reintroduced to the reservoir and to prevent the 2022 disaster from happening again. The main focus was to make sure all surveying and checks are complete and signed off before fish are put back in. Hence why my video about them sneaking fish into the res last week caused some frustration. We wanted to know exactly how many, what species and what size. For reasons being so we know what are compensating for the 2022 deaths and if like last time we find a bunch of them dead down the brook again. Unfortunately the sluice gate pumping out all the water is at the deepest point of the res right at the dam wall. The 2 new sluice gates at the new outlet are leaking but aren’t a threat as of yet. Ideally they need to throw the keys away to all 3 and let nature give a helping hand. Otherwise every time the level needs to be adjusted the fish risk being unlawfully killed again. Just 1 18lb common carp can cost around £1000-1500. But that fish’ life is priceless. In 2022 I counted thousands of them dead that had been flushed out. Fish live a tough life as it is, they don’t need us humans making it harder for them.

@ thanks for the response. It’s still not showing for me. With regards to water level now, for some perspective - as of 4pm today, when I was at the club, the water level is roughly where it drops to throughout the summer months - it always has and drops, from that outflow, to maintain the canal level - that’s the primary focus of the reservoir - it frustrates us just as much believe me! It has done for years and years and never caused issues before (and has been juts as open as that, if not more - as I mentioned previously, I suspect the issue was caused last time purely because the water was so low - never ben that low before. To get to the ‘normal’ top water level it has just over 2ft to rise, assuming it goes back to the same level it always was previously, which is what we were told would happen - that was measured against the water marks on our quay today.

To be banned from the fishery id have to had breached rules. You can’t ban somebody from a business or organisation for a good or bad review buddy. And believe me if I received anything in writing to suggest I was banned from any of the fisheries under them there would be multiple videos of me enjoying my time in court. So don’t start rumours that I’d love to be true fella. If I got banned from anywhere for reasons outside of the rules I’d be like a pig in $hit. We have a house next to the res now because it was left to us, not because it saves my legs. There’s no such thing as bad publicity. All publicity is good publicity👍🏼

Marc doesn’t control the Facebook page pal. And to ban me I’d have to be in breach of organisation rules. You can’t ban somebody for saying Kiveton waters is going back to becoming a Marina again for the canal. Not can you ban somebody from walking round Harthill res videoing all the cut down trees that are now floating around the place. They probably mean I won’t be welcome down there fishing, which is fine, I can still fish it and not be welcome. Me not being welcome is their issue, because I turn up to fisheries being ordered to leave and I still get on with my job videoing a public lake. Until I receive a decision in writing with the points in which I am in breach of the rules, that’s when I’m banned. I’ve not fished/Audited Harthill or Kiveton since Embryo have had them. I made the videos before the 1/3/24 which was before embryo took over. I’d be rolling in cash if they said I was banned for reviewing somebody else’s fishery fella💰 You can’t just treat people differently because you feel like it. When the canal reopens they want Kiveton waters to become a boat marina again. No good blocking me because their lease now has an expiry date👍🏼 Google it, it’s all there to be seen.

Hi mate, The news reached me on Tuesday and I have too many things to say about it. One thing I will say is, for it to become a Bio Diversity Hub allowing the general public to engage closely with Pond Life, keeping angling rights on the premises is the biggest access key of all. Anglers are the gatekeepers to the aquatic abyss of our underwater world and many many passers by have been amazed and enlightened by the sights of an angler catching and holding some of this historic pond life. Without angling it will only be a mystery and the security of the fish life will perish. I don’t know what more can be done, I’m not aware of how the club have taken the news or if they want/not want it to go ahead. But there’s certainly things that can be done to either suppress or liaise with the idea. One thing that won’t help is silence. Time to make some noise….

@thatson01 We as the angling community could do with some guidance as to a coordinated response, ie bombard whoever is behind this with reasoned arguments via email etc. A petition maybe? I don't know but I fear this is the thin end of the wedge and just the beginning of losing venues to the anti fishing brigade. Sad times.

it’s NEDDC who we need to get on at, I’ve sent a complaint about it a few days ago, as have a few others I know of. We definitely can’t keep silent about it

They recently stopped day tickets on here and no juniors allowed either.

I've emailed neddc too, had a reply from customer services who passed it on to the relevant department, not heard anything yet.

Unfortunately it’s not a matter of anybody informing us of the stocking, it’s showing the world what stocks have gone it to compensate for the hundreds and thousands of fish that were killed here in 2022. The world demanded a number of the dead, so common sense should be to advise of the new numbers. It’s not about entitlement, it’s about showing your neighbour the new cat your buying him after running over his previous one👍🏼

Nobody has to inform me, but knowing what fish have gone in would be great for the anglers to know. So I didn’t mean me in general, but why not show everybody your efforts? I have the stocking programme. Nothing stated Carp to be introduced first and it was discussed that the stocking would be highlighted after the fish kill. They’ve already upped their prices, you can only fish a 10 hour ticket, banned night fishing on lakes 1 & 2 and if you can’t get internet connection down there you are ordered to leave. I’m not being funny either, but how are you glad about anglers having to pay more for less fishing? Surly that’s something you shouldn’t be glad about? What an add thing to say.

Sometimes it’s better to up the price it gets rid of a lot of riff raff from the banks and I can tell you there was a lot up there leaving their rubbish everywhere.

That's right, the top water level hasnt changed. It's always been in the trees on that side during the winter when full. With the embankment becoming exposed as it drops during the summer

Maybe because it's had a leak on the dam wall, the water level hasn't been as high. Perhaps that's why all the money has been spent

The far bank has always been like that. The Anglers that fished that far side made the effort to get through the brambles and trees and reaped the rewards. It kept the annoying walkers away too 🤣🤣
