I think if every country did a checklist of how many awful things they did before hosting a sport event, US wouldn’t even stand a chance in hosting one! So let’s not mix politics and agenda’s with sports. Just enjoy watching this amazing event 😜
Most countries all have fair share of abuses and atrocities committed. In terms of LoL, Europe enriched from colonialism, the US bombed the shit out of smaller countries, China is ran by a dictator, Korea itself also has periods of human abuse and concentration camps. No one is innocent.
I don’t really know if it was bad that I didn’t notice or seem to care about anything in this video that was labeled as bad or controversial, I was there for the esports and that’s what I was there to enjoy, not politics.
it's not even controversial, people just whined about it, GEN fans think T1 fans are saying they are stopping the Golden Road cuz it's invalid anymore meanwhile in reality T1 nor any team didn't even expect to make Finals let alone win it. just happy to bag 400k and 1k points in Club Championship points
The only ones who call it mickey mouse trophy are T1 haters, acting like the participating teams be like “alright, let’s try to lose” I swear if their favorite team won, the narrative would change
Since when did this channel become about politics and shit like that. Whoever wrote the script and thought this a good idea, they need to be evaluated.
T1 won fair and square. this doesn't stain faker's legacy at all. also it's a pretty big cash prize since ZOFGK can't generate money thru streams because of ddos attacks.
Does the controversy affect that they played the game?? No. Does the price pool equal to major league events?? Somewhat. Does the team competing competes on other major international event?? Yes. All in all I think its a valid tournament. The country sponsored the event and major teams attended it so its good
pride and beliefs dont put food in ur belly, the industry desperately needs fresh injection of funds to sustain itself and if thats saudi money, i cant fault it really. not like they r having T1 playing against no name local teams either, legit wins against basically the best in the world and the production wasnt too bad either.
Respectfully, Western criteria for what the world ought to be like isn't exactly shared worldwide. Its typical American arrogance to try and pass judgment or critique completely out of context based on its own set of cultural values and norms. Next, this has nothing to do with Faker. Nothing to do with T1. Nothing to do with Riot. The tournament was generally fun to watch and a great effort considering it was their first ever. The only crime here is channels like this trying to clickbait and ragebait issues that really shouldn't exist.
I think we can definitely have both things. I think having this relatively unknown region burst out in the sports world is cool! It gives people from there more opportunities to thrive in the industry (whether it's in sports or esports), but we also cannot forget and stop talking about their issues just because we're having a good time watching these events.
Why don't you talk about israel human rights issues as it's making a genocide rn in palestine in gaza or how about the human rights violation of usa and france and britain and germany when they were bombing the hell out of syria and killing thousands of civilizations in their "war on terror" or does human rights only works in specific situations this hypocrisy has to end all you influencers can't even say a word about a genocide but all happy talking about how a tournament in riadh is so "controversial"
Why keep people acting like this? How is this a stain on Faker legacy, so let say if GenG had won this tournament would the critics be saying the same shit on Chovy uprising legacy?
What's so controversial about this? T1/ Faker taking the 1st EWC Trophy? They played well(T1) he played well( Faker ) so where's the controversial there? next time make video that make sense. by the way 2 top team in their region are in these competition.

First of all, no. This will not have leave any negative marks next to Fakers name. The politics have nothing to do with him. Now as to the question if this title holds any meaning: to me personally it does not, no. The way they tournament is set up, with little to no prep time and a single elimination bracket, this in no way shows us who is the best team. I am by no means a GenG fan, but if they win summer split and Worlds, i will still consider them to have won all major tournament this year. The Golden Road will be intact. Politics aside, this tournament adds nothing in terms of excitement and only takes away from the esports itself. With no build up and a poor structure, the tournament waters down the excitement for worlds, aswell as taking away some of the positivity that MSI left us with. I am happy that this event has given the esports some money to sustain itself, but i will be happier if its the last time Riot allows their teams to participate in it.
A trophy is a trophy (even if it looks kinda mid compare to a riot made worlds trophy or an msi trophy). The only thing it need to improve on is more orgs participating to give it the "Major" tournament feel cus ppl are saying "it's just a minor tournament". Credits to T1, they won the tournament not against mediocre teams but against some of the best teams in the world. This only adds to Fakers legacy. Stop tying the game to politics, if the top teams/orgs cared about the politics, they wouldn't have sent their teams. Whats important to the teams/orgs is the competition/experience and love for esports.

I click the video because its faker and all I hear is this guys BS. If Saudi Arabia using faker then shame on you too using FAKER to click the video and hear you BS.
sportwashing for viewers or player is far less important than the format of the tournament, single elimination with best of 3 is minimal effort, but that is what LOL get from Dota loving organizer
I mean you could just rename the video as why Saudi Arabia is a bad place to held any events. I mean using T1 and Faker to bait is just odd. T1 still win so that's that.
What are we even talking about? T1 won a tournament, that's all there is. Why are we putting country problems on a teams victory? T1 like all the other orgs agreed to play there, T1 won and now oh oh T1 are the bad guys cus they took the money that they earned by winning a tournament. Like wtf is this?
There were other ways you guys can cut this, like focusing on GenG and whether this would stain their Golden Road or explaining what a Golden Road actually is, etc. Guess Faker + Politics is more clickbait eh?
EWC can be held anywhere,it doesn't have to be limited just to the country of Saudi itself as people wants to watch the games itself and teams pay their players a hefty amount of money just to sign big names like S1mple only to be destroyed by other better teams

I think if every country did a checklist of how many awful things they did before hosting a sport event, US wouldn’t even stand a chance in hosting one! So let’s not mix politics and agenda’s with sports. Just enjoy watching this amazing event 😜
Why wouldn't the US be? It's not like they have their own extrajudicial killings going on..?
Most countries all have fair share of abuses and atrocities committed. In terms of LoL, Europe enriched from colonialism, the US bombed the shit out of smaller countries, China is ran by a dictator, Korea itself also has periods of human abuse and concentration camps. No one is innocent.
Tell me what USA are limiting VS Saudi Arabia? :)
@@amse0264 are you seriously going to say that USA are the while knights?
There is a difference between a event hosted at a location and event sponsored by the government directly.
“Controversial” what the hell does that even mean? Where the tournament was held doesn’t matter at all? idk why this is a topic
Its not about where its more about who is funding and using it as a "look how good we are forget the bad stuff" cover up
@@vladobilko4815 Just like everyone else?
They beat 2 LPL teams and an LCS team. That's a common t1 intl tourney for a few years now. LOL
Do not care about saudi anyway. T1 won and that's the only thing matters
The only ones who call it mickey mouse trophy are T1 haters, acting like the participating teams be like “alright, let’s try to lose”
I swear if their favorite team won, the narrative would change
Idc how controversial it may be, I was waiting for this day!
Didn't care league is league. Let me guess all these statements came from the west
something far worse, western twitter
Of course. Its always the West. They like to act like they’re on a moral high ground.
What should i understand from this video, all i care about is watching the match WTAF.
Does the controversy affect that they played the game?? No. Does the price pool equal to major league events?? Somewhat. Does the team competing competes on other major international event?? Yes. All in all I think its a valid tournament. The country sponsored the event and major teams attended it so its good
I'm so sick of everything being politicized. I just wanna watch some good games.
Same. like Esports is Esports just let the players enjoy and support their Favorite game to be played at the highest and no political stuff involved
LMAO wake up.
The loud white western girls screaming in the back
Its only fitting Faker wins the inaugural year of this tournament. How does it taint his legacy when his legacy has been all about winning?
pride and beliefs dont put food in ur belly, the industry desperately needs fresh injection of funds to sustain itself and if thats saudi money, i cant fault it really. not like they r having T1 playing against no name local teams either, legit wins against basically the best in the world and the production wasnt too bad either.
Some of the people are just bitter that the team they are supporting didn't win the trophy at all.
I think we can definitely have both things. I think having this relatively unknown region burst out in the sports world is cool! It gives people from there more opportunities to thrive in the industry (whether it's in sports or esports), but we also cannot forget and stop talking about their issues just because we're having a good time watching these events.
The lack of coverage of this Olympic level of Esports is so weird from a huge eSports channel like these
Tbh the trophy system was so sick
Why don't you talk about israel human rights issues as it's making a genocide rn in palestine in gaza or how about the human rights violation of usa and france and britain and germany when they were bombing the hell out of syria and killing thousands of civilizations in their "war on terror" or does human rights only works in specific situations this hypocrisy has to end all you influencers can't even say a word about a genocide but all happy talking about how a tournament in riadh is so "controversial"
well said.
Why keep people acting like this? How is this a stain on Faker legacy, so let say if GenG had won this tournament would the critics be saying the same shit on Chovy uprising legacy?
Nah mah its just Faker, not even the T1 just Faker 😂. Not even the rest of 20 games in there
What's so controversial about this? T1/ Faker taking the 1st EWC Trophy? They played well(T1) he played well( Faker ) so where's the controversial there? next time make video that make sense.
by the way 2 top team in their region are in these competition.
Because there GenG and LPL got shitstomp, and ended the Golden Road, they are on silver road now. Just like some streamers are still coping about GenG and LPL loss. So much hate for T1 huh? So are we not talking about China though? Ohhh ofcourse they are offlimits. Shhhhh.
According to riot it doesnt count for the golden road so what are you on about?
@@TolKINGenjoyer doesnt count? A golden road means you are the best during the year, in every tournament, thats what golden road means. GenG shouldve declined the invitation, and second, riot did not say that. Whatever makes you sleep at night.
@@rogamingz206 Look in the description of the Geng Msi highlights on the Lol Esports Channel. Tournaments like the Demacia cup and the redbull event also didnt count so why should this?
Westerners obssessed with china 😂
what stain? just because boycotts happen doesn't mean an authoritative country like saudi will listen
they are helping keep the T1 roster together, so I am all for it
Messi won the Qatar World Cup and his reputation remains good, most people don't care about this "sportswashing" thing.
It's just another League tournament to most viewers. Having no losers bracket might make results less convincing, but a win is a win. The location doesn't matter and none of the fans give a fk abt Saudi to begin with.
even worlds dont have losers bracket.
the thing to nitpick from the tournament was just the format and matchup which were done to generate hype as they dont have a lot of time in between their splits. look at other games and you can see that they are actually prepared if they had the right schedule.
Saudi is the biggest sponsor for Ti so it's not really new if Saudi wants to sponsor this eSports games
Sucks that it is Saudi Sportswashing, but the concept of the EWC is really cool tbh.
EWC video before GENG MSI win and 4-Peat video thats crazy
T1 gets them more views. I mentioned this too. There are so many plotlines they could make, like first-time international since name change, and Chovy's first international title, but they only care about the view count. It was the same with the story of TenZ.
@@noahnouansacksy556 they only care about what gives them the most clicks and money. just look into the videos released and count the videos done on the mobile scene. there barely any mention aside from sponsored video.
People are acting angry at Saudi Arabia's human rights for social media likes, while owning slave-built phones and shoes... hillarious.
So it means that we cant talking about lack of human rights in saudi arabia? How stupid is this comment?
@@triable6238 You still can if you want to. People are just pointing out the hypocrisy.
@@triable6238Of course you can but the point is... This is fucking League of Legends. If you want shit like that go to your social media account and complain there.
@@triable6238 no it means you will just say things for social media points, where you dont actually give a fuck especially when its not convenient for you
@@triable6238 How stupid are your reply, he is just pointing out the irony of the western. USA should not host the Copa America, Russia should not host WorldCup, China should not host the Olympic, Brazil should not host any E-sport tournaments, matter of fact more than 90% of coutries in the world can't and shouldn't host anything at all. It is just weird that how agressive people pointing out that how awfull it is when Muslim country involved when actually base of all thing they are kinda overreacting.
A win is a win, the more trophies the better.
You'd think a channel whose general purpose is journalism, with over 2mil subs, would be capable of a less intellectually dishonest title. Though I suppose that's the point these days. More interested in generating clicks than anything meaningful or constructive. Or even honest.
Why do you have to complicate things, dont mix country problems with an esport event,i dont get it...
Tournament is tournament on its own,and all the teams were invited and went to play because of league ,not some serious money or cuz its Saudi Arabia...
Its that simple...
Do you even know whats "sport washing"?
@@rizzierifedrigo6066no one cares. Everyone knows what their history is but this is completely separate from the games being played
@@rizzierifedrigo6066 and why would trophy worth less ,cuz its sports wash or cuz its in saudi?
@@aidenfrost10"Politics has no place in sports" - Avery Brundage (American Olympic Committee) talking about 1936 Olympic games held in N*zi Germany
people are so soft who gives a fuck where the tournament is held
Remember when LPL was regarded as the BEST REGION after winning a for fun tournament in 2020 ?
It's so funny when Americans criticize other countries about rights 😂. Not supporting Saudi but hearing that from an American is...
Americans forced to pay taxes that funds a genocide
Qatar organizes World cup :
the West : "Angry because of humans rights"
Saudi Arabia organizes Sports events :
the West : "Angry because of humans rights"
Morocco reaches Semi-final in world cup :
the West : "Angry because of humans rights"
Do you see the pattern here ?
A win is still a win. Most people watch a tournament because their favorite team are competing and not because of the country
Okay do that with the usa when the next event is held there and lets see how much chaos such an innocent country caused to the world, and please speak to me in full details about nagazaki and heroshima. and please do not forget to mention Germany’s accomplishments when we see an event there, also don’t forget about the British occupation of, India, Egypt, and most of the middle eastern countries, when it host an event. Oh before I forget, during the next event in china, speak about muslims oppression and torture and how they ducked up players like ozil for just tweeting about an event that happened there. I guess my point has been proven, stop the hypocrisy. Thank you
Seems Faker's reputation has a purifying effect on whatever it touches.
No one is saying Messi’s reputation is forever stained because he won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. A world cup for which allegedly over 6,751 deaths and tens of thousands human rights violations against migrant workers just for Qatar’s vanity project and for FIFA to rake in money. Lay the blame on the door of the people responsible not on the reputation of athletes who dedicate their lives to the sport.
Let me guess, there wasn’t any better news to report on recently?
I think it has to be more than 1.113 Millions views because the Vietnamese Broadcast has like 2+ Millions views alone.
I believe this is where we really need to separate Esports and Geopolitics.
So people saying the top 2 teams of every major region is a joke and not a competition lol. Insert one of the highest prizepool which is 400k dollars
we cant people just enjoy the game without digging deeper into shit that no sane person considers at these tournaments
GEN didnt win == EWC not a valid tournament
The only stain there is, is that people makes it looks like a very bad tournament, when in part its not... They have the option to join or not, and literally they played...
Even more impressive. They won with a dark cloud over head!
trophy is trophy champion is champion. why T1 takes the blame?? all pro team was given a chance if they don't win not worthy enough to take the W
As a Saudi living in Riyadh I find the comment section quite amusing, to say the least.
The problem here is westerners keep calling them out about the cultures and customs of Saudi Arabia and everything is an issue for them.
Dont worry guys the MSI will be held in the same time EWC will be held. Which means every year MSI will never leave riyadh ever again 😂
I watch Esports to see my favorite team play or to watch the best win. I do not watch it to see what is company's stance in degenerate behaviors.
When companies begin pushing agendas and start focusing on activism instead of focusing on what their customers want, they can count me out.
Bro... 8th to 5th place teams got the same prize money as the the msi champions, 400k is 400k.
No matter the country's reasons, the players just went there to play a game. They aren't even a part of the drama. Let the players play
Watched T1 demolish competition and win a cool ass trophy: hype
Watched them demolish competition back in LCK whilst jetlagged and sleepy af: hilarious hype
Majority of lol esports watchers don't care bro. We just enjoy watching the game.
Idk you guys are tripping I love the Saudi people and I think that you shouldn’t hate players for participating in a tournament lol. Just stop hating and bringing politics into a video game tournament. Let’s just enjoy great gameplay.
EWC can be held anywhere,it doesn't have to be limited just to the country of Saudi itself as people wants to watch the games itself and teams pay their players a hefty amount of money just to sign big names like S1mple only to be destroyed by other better teams
whoever boycotting the tourney should boycot those participated in it including faker. Otherwise they are holding double standard and playing justice worrior.
