- Real Sociedad have made their long-awaited return to the Champions League after a decade. Under the guidance of Imanol Alguacil, La Real have improved themselves season upon season. How? By being patient, utilizing their incredible academy (Zubieta), and having continuity within the club. On top of that, smart recruitment to bolster their squad has played out perfectly. The most recent example would be Takefusa Kubo, though Premier League stars Martin Odegaard and Alexander Isak have also passed through the club of late.
Real Sociedad is a club for football purists who like to see how a club grows the NATURAL way, not with cash injections and millions spent on signings.

As a Barca fan, La Real are a club I've always admired. They have an incredibly dedicated fan base. A rainy night at the Anoeta is always tough. They play really good football as well, Imanol is doing an incredible job.
Call them Sociedad, no one in Spain references them as La Real

La Real ain't chasing trends or tactical fads. They do what they want, how they want, and have faith in it. Is it sexy? Not really. Is it bombastic? Never.
What it is, is consistent and effective, allowing La Real to achieve a very high baseline over the course of the whole season. 51 goals isn't sexy, no no no. Yet the passion remains fierce in the stands, the people do not feel bored by their teams motions.

The Basques are simply put, amazing at football. Real's core is all homegrown players and Athletic's whole idea is to play with Basque players.
Mikel Arteta and Xabi Alonso both played for Sociedad's junior teams before Arteta joined La Masia and Xabi Alonso remained in San Sebastian.
I am happy for La Real. In the last few years they nearly qualified but it wasn't easy. They will be a tough match for anyone.
Im from the US and have no ties to spain or basque country whatsoever, im 21 now but when i first started learning about football at age 11, i was instantly intrigued with real sociedad, obviously through learning about real madrid and barcelona at first like everyone else, i started to watch la liga and i was captivated by everything about La Real, the crest, the basque language, and specifically their defender Mikel Gonzalez, since 2014 ive been a fan and have watched every game i can, and with the inclusion of streaming services i have not missed a single one of their games since espn added la liga onto their streaming app in 2021, i really identify with this club and their fanbase, even the basque people in general, i love this club with all my heart, i shed tears when Illaramendi played his last game and i am so proud to see them get back into the UCL, i will forever remain hopeful that WE WILL win La liga again one day, i was lucky to be the generation that saw them lift their first trophy in THREE decades and i know i will be the generation that sees them lift their third la liga🤍💙
That’s crazy, from inside channel joke, to working with Real Sociedad. Because of Adrian, I actually started watching Real Sociedad’s matches. Hopefully one day they can become future champions!

At the start of every season since 19/20 they looked like they were gonna get CL football or challange for the title, unfortunately they were inconsistent and always slipped to the europa spots, glad they atleast clinged on this time.
The rivalry with Bilbao makes Sociedad better

Different type of players though I understand why you draw the parallels because of their range of passing and vision. Comparing Silva with Modric, is like comparing Xabi Alonso with Mesut Ozil, it doesn't work.
The problem with Kubo is that he will never be able to gain Spanish citizenship since Japan doesn’t allow dual citizenship
This makes him forever taking a non-EU slot, in comparison to Real’s policy of buying the best Brazilian youngsters and getting them Spanish citizenship in two years and then rinse and repeat.
Kubo definitely has talent but Real cannot find a place for him and carry a player that always occupies a non-EU slot

I don’t want to sound like a bandwagon but I somewhat liked/favored Sociedad, and after watching this video honestly I’m inclined to become a fan. Always been only a Milan fan and didn’t care about other leagues usually.

For so long, it's felt inevitable that Real Sociedad would be up there with the rest in the UCL, they've finally done it. They won't be easy to face in LaLiga and neither in the UCL with that Spanish pedigree that bring Spanish clubs success in Europe

This just makes me sad that I feel so out of touch with my own local pro team. The Colorado Rapids shot themselves in the foot by moving outside of Denver to Commerce City. I've always loved being in the stands and they used to be a good team. Sure at the time building one of the biggest sporting complex in North America sounded good on paper but the number of empty seats speaks louder than that. I'm not sure how their academy plays now but back when I was playing nobody wanted to join it because all the better teams were already winning and travelling nationally.
