Humble man, always keen for to allow others to grow alongside himself. Thank you for not only the amazing music, but for valuable lessons on growing up. I feel you're becoming more of a mentor to me than what I used to see you for - A great producer and DJ that I wish to be as successful as one day. P.S... You've really helped me through a bunch of tough times too! Cheers Luke!
I love the mashups because they are very unique to whoever makes them, if you don't end up making your own. I've made my own mashups live because that is all I can do at the moment but what really intrigues me more is how you actually make your mashups with one track and then change it to a different track or multiple tracks, tempo pitches up/down, fade ins, etc. I can give many examples but doing it live it's easier because you bring out the low end from the track you want to fade/drop into and as it gets closer you bring the EQ low end from the main track out as the other one comes in and the low end is all the way in by the time of the new drop. I've replicated many mashups I've heard on live sets, podcasts, etc. But intrigued on how those more complex mashups are done, where you have it all on one channel and not a different track on different channels to pull it off. Thanks Luke! Hope you see this and end up talking about it in the future.
Because I left out the can you explain part. Was that it? Anyone with could read that and realize oh this is intriguing let me touch on this. But it's ok. A question mark doesn't need to be in place to show you are asking for help. You are elaborating on what was talked about and wanting to understand a more complex side of it. Instead of asking like anyone would, I'm engaging. But when something is commented on and still doesn't explain what I'm focusing on you didn't answer what I was looking for. So to you, the question is still not answered. Thanks anyways!
I do Launchpad DJ performances using 8 - 16 channels to perform. I literally just use limiters and the EQ8. I pick appropriate loops so nothing clashes, then chop it all up so I have a live set across my launchpad. Its a lot of fun. Awesome video and I love your work xD
i have no idea wtf you’re talking about but i love it. i have FL Studio and just mess around for fun. and DJ weddings and house parties for fun money love your videos.
Pretty happy with how I just spent the last 16 minutes and 11 seconds of my life :) Learned plenty, something I've been wanting to tinker with more. Thanks Luke!
Thanks man for being so humble and tell us how to become better djs and producers. We need more djs like you who don't want just money ando game like 90% of them. Much love from Portugal
Hey laidback luke. Just wanna say thanks for your videos. Your advice and tutorials have really made an impact on the way I approach my music. You have a really easy to understand way of explaining things. A lot of videos on how to produce tracks make music sound complex. But yours make it what it should be, fun. I’m living in China at the moment. Due to complex visa restrictions I can’t work in a normal job here. So by DJing I can make some money. Your videos inspire me to keep pushing on. I have been listening to your music for years but only producing for 2 years. If there is anything I can do for you or your label so you can increase your fan base in China please let me know. Thanks for the videos again. Keep putting them on here. They help us newbies more then you know. You’re a legend. Peace out brother.
thanks for being inspiring to many of us all! i'm going through the same thing as you. stay strong man! you got the many fans behind you supporting you all the way!
I love you Luke, sending you much love from Canada.. a breakup almost always = heart break and I can hear it in your voice as you are doing this tutorial.. i hear pain in your voice.. keep up the good work brother, much love from Canada! Stay strong!
I love your beginner tutorial's! I'm a trap producer myself, but your tutorials are super helpful and you are explaining everything just perfect. I'm sorry for the split up. Hope you can keep the contact to your kids ❤️
This was amazing I've just watched about 6 of your videos and I've learned a lot from your videos, I just started 4 months ago, and I've been self teaching myself but this helps alot. Keep it up.
Greater tutorial. I would love to see a tutorial on how to make transition tracks. For example from 128 BPM to 100 BPM, 100 BPM to 70 BPM, 70 BPM to 100 BPM and 100 BPM to 128 BPM. Can you please show us how to this?
It's pretty simple actually. Split the track at the drop(Or after the drop), then change the bpm. But remember to use a warping mode like Ableton's Complex mode, like Luke said. :)
for original tracks. So lets say you have Pogo by Laidback Luke which 128 BPM but then you want to play Turn Down for What by Lil John which is around 100 BPM. I would like to make Pogo transition from 128-100.
Luke, let me tell you how inspiring you continue to be young brother. For years, I've been using FL Studios DAW to utilize a lot of the techniques your tutorial just described. It really blesses me to know that even though the DAWs are different, I'm still using the same techniques used by professionals. It gives me a sense of accomplishment, because if these are the traits and trades used by well-known DJs and producers, then I must be doing something right with my own music. Keep up the great work, Luke! One more thing, and it's important: I was sorry to learn about your separation, brother. I was almost there once, so i know how tough that experience can be. But, can I just say that...God is in the restoration business. How you two split is nobody's business. But, if you still love this woman and wish for things to be different, there's nothing the Lord cannot handle. Sometimes, you just have to fight harder with his help. Either way, you continue to be present in the lives of your kids. Happy belated Father's Day. And keep the music coming.
Whenever I make mashups, I use Autamation Clips for the Audio of the tracks in order to make them play together more harmonically. Great tutorial by the way!
Hi Luke, I just watched your video and the first part had tears coming up in my eyes... I am living this situation right now as we me and my wife just decided to split up and go each on our own ways, maybe in order to revive our own love that we have lost together or maybe do definitely go or own way's. Still living under the same roof as we speak and just told the kids this morning that mummy and daddy will be away for a moment and that they will now have 2 homes (daddy has a much smaller flat a sort of barbie house, they laughed... anyway hard times, but lifes goes on i guess... the hardest will be by next week once I will be back home from work and alone in the evening, alone in the morning, no kids around, this will be the hardest... anyway time will tell... and thanks for the tutorial Big up
15th view! I love you Laidback Luke. Your art is way above every dj out there. I hope you get the recognition you deserve, I cringe when people place 'xyz' DJ's above you. I mean inconsiderate humans can be? When you're actually just enjoying pyrotechnics more than the music. Also, your Tomorrowland 2014 DJ set was lit, hope to more powerful Laidback Luke music ❤
awesome mashup tut!!!! It realy helps me a lot! Thank u verry much!!! btw. ur gig @WorldClubeDome was pretty insane. Love it to see u live on stage for the first time :D
Love your videos Luke! Might I suggest using focus lock on your camera off to the side. Would stop it from refocusing when you move and go blurry. Minor details I know :D
undoubtedly the best mashup tutorial available on the Internet till date and i am really very thankful for that sir! but i still have this doubt that how to make a mashup of 2 tracks with way different bpms? like an acapella of 80 bpm and the other track is 128bpm.. please it would be a great help sir 🙏
I've never tried it, but you could drop the 80bpm down to 75bpm and raise the 128bpm to 130bpm. The 75 would be half of the 130 but I honestly have no idea if it would sound decent or not. There's definitely going to be more work to it than that, but I don't know. (Like I said, never tried.)
Luke, thank you for all the tutorials and vlogs. Your hard work is an inspiration! You mention your family life in this vlog, and I have seen you visiting your kids in other videos: I am working on a trans-Atlantic move for my kids and it would mean the first time I would be away from my kids for a while... do you have any advice for staying connected? Also, any advice for a music professional finding work in NL?
I was borderline about to quit on DJing cause i cant get a hold on a Controller but you got me pumped to continue eventhough i dont have a the resources
what about removing the frequencies from the beat track when the vocal track goes so loud? REMOVING frequencies is actually way more important than BOOSTING them!!! because leaving room for other elements is way more important than boosting one and trying to fight a loudness war of frequencies! surprised that i didn't hear this on this video, it's actually VERY important in both producing and mashing things up!
Thanks for the tutorial! I am really happy you were able to put mashups into perspective for me. I am starting to dive into this world and it opened the door just that much wider. I would love to see how to go about the legal side of things. How do you make your mashup "official" so you do not get hit by copyright laws and be able to post on places like spotify (just an example). Thanks for being MOTIVATIONAL!
Hey Luke love your video, can you make a video talking about which laptop is best and what specs we need as music producers? And one more question, why did you get the new MacBook Pro 2017 (Touch Bar). Thank you! I hope you really do a help me out here. 🙏🙏
Great tutorial! I have a question though. When I mashup two tracks, is it enough to put a limiter on the master, or should I lower the volume of the two tracks individually as well? The problem with the last option is that one track will get low in volume when the two tracks aren’t playing together. And if I only use a limiter, there will be a lot of gain reduction which isn’t wanted if I understand it correctly. I guess my problem comes down to having a loud track no matter if the two tracks are playing at the same time or not!
Can you advise on how to properly edit audio like take bits from one track, for example, a snare or a kick drum or any type of instrument without it sounding weird?
Hi Luke Great video and really helpful for all of us. I´ve got a problem with all of my mashups, the thing is that the volumen after bouncing them comes a little bit lower than the original, i´ve tried to put a compressor and a limiter but it still lower after bouncing. I work with FL studio so I hope you could help me to increase that volume level without distorting the sound because I´ve tried to rise the Dbs without a good results hahahahaha. Thank you so much to be an inspiration to us hope to see you soon in Spain. Take care.
you can purchase music from places like iTunes or beatport, rip tracks from places like youtube or soundcloud, or sign up to dj pool where you pay a monthly subscription for a database of tracks, I prefer the dj pool option :)
I feel sorry to hear that Luke. But thanks for the tutorial. By the way, I made a mashup of one of your track Luke. Let me know what you think. It is on my channel :)
Awesome tutorial Luke, I learned something new today :) I thought it should be noted though that dynamic range is important - rather than limiting the master. Turn down the gain a bit on both tracks. :)

6:30 and because almost all the songs we want to mashup are on Beatport, you can actually go there and find the BPM and key ;)
naah, beatport is too mainstream
I love the mashups because they are very unique to whoever makes them, if you don't end up making your own. many ways to do this with various equipment. No one correct way. The most important thing in doing mash ups is having fun.
Still doesn't explain nor answer the question. Valiant effort though!
Because I left out the can you explain part. Was that it? Anyone with could read that and realize oh this is intriguing let me touch on this. But it's ok. Yo Luke, I always feel so much of positive vibes from your music and even your Vlogs! Keep up your great work my man!!!
Could you make production tutorial on mixing ?
Sorry to hear about your split up. I wish you strength and remember, you still got a lot of family right here, Luke!
Gina's loss........
That mashup sounds so sick!
I love your beginner tutorial's! I'm a trap producer myself, but your tutorials are super helpful and you are explaining everything just perfect.
I'm sorry for the split up. Hope you can keep the contact to your kids ❤️
How could 35 people possibly downvote this? Awesome stuff

for original tracks. So lets say you have Pogo by Laidback Luke which 128 BPM but then you want to play Turn Down for What by Lil John which is around 100 BPM. I would like to make Pogo transition from 128-100.

Would love to see a vlog on volume balancing. Especially the way you do it with the utility tool
Hey Luke, which producer software do you recommend for a starter? :) LogicPro, Ableton, FL ?

Luke, thank you for all the tutorials and vlogs. Your hard work is an inspiration! if you mean what DAW is he working in when you say software its Ableton Live :)
Can you do a vlog about where to get music for djing?
Beatport.com
djkidii source without credit card
Do you thing dj get music free?
Some DJs do. Like Laidback through his own label. But for us small ones, buy the fucking music.
mymp3pool.com, soundcloud.com, beatport.com
I love how how u share your ideas bro how do u get ready for a festival that's how I wanna know
thanks for the tutorial Luke great advice
1. how do I get that shirt and 2. are you going to post this mashup anywhere?
Notifications Squad, assemble!
I totally love this, thank you!
I LOVE THAT TRACK
Luke will you be coming to Chicago anytime soon?!?
thanks Luke can u make a tut on making mashups live on decks
Awesome tutorial man
Thanks for the tutorial!
Great tutorial, you should set your DSLR to Manual Focus, that will stop the autofocus jumping in and out!
wow amaze. Can you show how to make this live on the decks?
Too cool, LL, many thanks for sharing.
An other good way to get vocals from a track is by downloading the instrumental and layer it over the original while inverting the fase of it.
Hey Luke love your video, can you make a video talking about which laptop is best and what specs we need as music producers? And one more question, why did you get the new MacBook Pro 2017 (Touch Bar). Thank you! I hope you really do a help me out here. 🙏🙏

hi, teach use how are use mixed kick & bass & sub bass.
Can you advise on how to properly edit audio like take bits from one track, for example, a snare or a kick drum or any type of instrument without it sounding weird?
Bro you can tell me ?
which DJ machine for new students to learn ..
Im a beginner DJ and Im happy using Pioneers DDJ 400 with Rekordbox, definitley don't need anything too expensive when just starting out :)
Thanks Luke! Just in time for my new laptop's arrival. Time to get goin!
Thank you so much!
I really appreciate the tutorial!
Good Luck for EDC Las Vegas Luke!
I would love to have more people like you who want to help. Thank you, LL
you can do it kuya Luke. waiting for the tutorial.
I love you luke! Stay strong brother! You`re the best DJ Ever
Please make this song a full mashup and release it!
great tutorial. i love your headset :) more videos to come Laidback Luke 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Happy Fathers Day Luke
what app did you use for making the mashup?
Is there anywhere I can get this mashup?
putting it in complex.. does this option exist for fl studio as well?
Can you do a vlog on where you get your musik? ❤️❤️
you can purchase music from places like iTunes or beatport, rip tracks from places like youtube or soundcloud, or sign up to dj pool where you pay a monthly subscription for a database of tracks, I prefer the dj pool option :)
super dud you are just too awesome. things will sort out you have a handle on that mashup...
what program do you use to make song?
I feel sorry to hear that Luke.
But thanks for the tutorial. By the way, I made a mashup of one of your track Luke. Let me know what you think. It is on my channel :)
Rio Olio hey bro which daw u used for mashups
one hope Im using Serato DJ and finalised it with FL Studio :)
Nabi Oumarov I just want to know what Laidback Luke think about my mashup :) hopefully he check my mashup, maybe playing it live one day :)
Yeah man hope for u
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
If master laidback I like your mashup he must play
Luke love what your doing for the DJ community please keep it going. My question is how many songs would be too many in a mashup. 🙏
Really thanks for that one👌🏻
Thanks luke! Really helpful! Hey, are yo still reviewing tracks on your forum?
necesito el nombre de la cancion que utilizo
Dope stuff at EDC!
What do you use for mashups?
Laidback Luke...what's the software you used to mash up ?
Awesome tutorial Luke, I learned something new today :)
I thought it should be noted though that dynamic range is important - rather than limiting the master. Turn down the gain a bit on both tracks. :)
