Hi! Esthetician here. Just a little FYI on the lactic acid and retinol products. Lactic acid is an exfoliant, that's why you see immediate brightness and feel refreshed. Retinols and retinals are antioxidants that work within the cells to promote collagen and elastin production. You should use retinoids as often as your skin can comfortably tolerate for best results (consistency is key w this product) and only use the acid exfoliators (lactic, glycolic, malic, ect) once or twice per week depending on skin type. Hope this helps clarify the differences. 🙂
Yes. Retinols for me can make my skin look worse in the short term but better in the long term
@sabbycat3848 Dermatologists here on TH-cam say retinols increase cell turnover so also act as exfoliators. That's why they create peeling if done too often!

I gave up on my rotating circle shelf when I found out that skincare products shouldn’t be exposed to heat from the shower. Now I keep all my stuff on a cute 3 shelf unit I keep in hallway outside the bathroom. I just bring stuff in within a shower caddy unit. I like it better because I can keep all my products together: what I’m currently using and backstock.
I only keep my cleansers in the bathroom at this point! I use the same lazy Susan tray

One product in my collection that I refuse to finish because it's probably the worst thing I've ever put on my face is the Tatcha setting powder. I was so excited for the launch a couple of years ago, picked it up IMMEDIATELY even though it is expensive as hell lol, and couldn't wait to use it.
Supreme disappointment.
A crusty dusty dry flakey mess. Gritty like sand and sawdust mixer together. Mixed and coagulated with a thin layer of concealer and turned into some sort of pastey concealer gravy. Aged me 87 years in a millisecond. Smelled like wet cornflakes.
Not technically skincare and doesn't relate exactly to this video but I just really want everyone to know it's the most horrible product I've ever spent my money on 😅😅😅

Keep in mind, if you’re trying multiple different skincare items at once you’re more prone to break outs, inflammation, and skin sensitivity. Always best to try one item at a time.
good general advice, would probably be impossible for a content creator/reviewer though, if they want to keep on top of releases
To keep foil packets for multiple uses, I throw it in a little ziplock bag and squeeze out all the air. It’ll keep your foil packets for a while!
for puffiness, I have had such good results from the Ordinary caffeine serum! it's worked better than many more expensive eye creams at quickly reducing puff. i am excited to try their new barrier repair cream.
sometimes puffiness can also come from air travel, salty and/or sugary snacks, alcohol, medication, etc. i definitely feel like i see it a lot more during holidays!
I’m sorry you didn’t like the Sephora Collection Brightening Eye Cream!! It was me who recommended it. It’s exactly what you said…everyone’s skin is different! The Belif eye cream was a 7/10 eye cream for me, while the Sephora Collection was a 10/10. I just repurchased it for the sale. Maybe the Sephora Collection is better for combo/dry skin types instead of combo/oily ❤️
The ingredients lists aren’t even similar, just because something feels similar doesn’t mean they are anywhere close to the same thing. You need to compare ingredients.

Be careful retiring eye patches lol. I've had them dry out from not using them for awhile. I always forget or don't have time in the mornings when I'd want to use them.
To tame my tiny flyaway hairs, I just use the elf power grip primer. 😂😂

Ugh thank you for giving me something to watch while I work night shift 😩❤ also I do feel like that amika leave in conditioner works pretty well. I have very dry, damaged hair from bleaching and I could feel a real difference in how soft my hair is from using that
Ugh, I feel your pain when it comes to cleaning those acrylic storage trays, caddies, drawers, etc. They are a pain in the rear to clean. I found it too laborious and ineffective to spritz and wipe the trays. Dust and other schmutz would gather in the corners. I find that it's easier to just fill my sink with warm, soapy water and soak the items. After soaking for a minute or two, I use a washcloth to wipe off any remaining schmutz.
Lauren, you are my go-to TH-camr. Whether I’m doing my makeup, waking up from a bad dream, or home sick (like I am right now), you are my favorite watch for all the good vibes. 💕
totally agree about the abib sunstick being too greasy! i saw so many rave reviews and bought it but it makes my face look sooo oily like a greaseball and it never dries down. you're the first one i've seen mention this about the product.
I finally understand why TH-camrs tell people not to ask for stuff. I always thought, “that’s weird, who would do that?” And I’m suddenly like “GASP! That’s my favorite expensive moisturizer! Send it to ME!“ lol
It's good that you're doing a declutter. You don't realize how bad the clutter is for your peace of mind until it's gone. This is why I have an extremely simple routine. I have 1 face wash, 2 serums, and 2 moisturizers (day and night). I don't buy a new one until I'm almost done with the one I'm using. I encourage you to try doing that for 2-3 weeks. Put everything else in boxes for a few weeks and see what your life is like. Just the amount of cleaning and organizing that's cut down is mind-blowing.

For your skin care holder, if its all plastic why not spray it in your shower first! Would be much easier to clean.
I feel like if you want to see the benefits from any one product you have to use it consistently.

The Bobbi Brown cleansing oil is my favorite! I can’t find anything “affordable” to compare. It removes my makeup so well and it’s just like water. I can’t even explain it. It’s just so nice.
I toss my makeup storage containers right into the top rack of my dishwasher ;) Have you tried the Ducray Redensifying haircare line? The French pharmacie brands have thickening hair down to an art. Another relaxing video, thanks for sharing. Also, I think you can pop off the metal tip of the Caudalie eye cream to reuse/repurpose
The crown affair hair gel is fantastic! Also the leave in conditioner has holy grail status

Try using the tower 28 cream on your hands and body. I have eczema and I use it as like a serum cream before I apply my heavy moisturizer and it’s amazing for dry skin.
I have super fine hair and the amika overnight is A+ 😊 It’ll weigh it down a little the next day but it helps with breakage.
I’d transfer that GR cleanser to another container! When I love the product but not the packaging, I just cycle that product into my travel containers and use it up when I go away. I have the cutest travel set from kitsch! ❤
this can actually make your products go bad faster, products are tested and approved for their expiration date based on how stable its packaging keeps the formula
Since you like that Dr.Jart ceramide spray & the Laneige milk - Try the CosRX ceramide cream mist I LOVE it & at least where I've seen it's a better price than either of the others.

I had to chuckle when you said all those product's were on the rorating stand , I said No Way, then I realized your not joking, who would have guessed...Then I couldn't believe how many you retired or decluttered when I saw how few you put back on your stand and thought I better get busy taking a secong look at things in my dresser and little boxes. Im thinking about gettin a rotating stand because if the products are out for me to see and easily grab I will be more likely to use them up in a more timely matter and not let them go to waste because I had forgotten them put away. I use retinol in combination with vitamin c. Amazing dream team.
I like the R+Co pomade stick, too. I got it in a sub box, and it's too pricey for me to repurchase once it's gone, so I save it for when the hair at my temples is going extra crazy. I also got to try a sample of IGK Rich Kid coconut oil gel from sub boxes, and it's also so expensive, so I haven't been able to try it again, but I really liked it -- the coconut oil gives some hold, but it doesn't dry down & get crunchy like traditional hair gels.
Ahaha that Glow Recipe eye cream bait and switch at the end was hilarious, I was like "girl no that's the one you didn't like!!" but you got there pretty quickly lol. I also did not care for the sample of it that I got, I noticed no improvements AND I started to feel like it might have even been giving me some irritation where it got onto my upper cheek skin (probably from interacting from some other product that I wasn't using in my eye area?)

I love these videos. I just did a HUGE declutter and i gave away a ton of palettes and blushes, bronzers, highlights and powders, then threw away everything that couldnt be passed on or was expired. I feel so much better now, its not as overwhelming to pick out my makeup of the day😂

The GR Guava Vitamin C made my eyes itch like crazy so I've been using my samples on my forehead and it has faded some of the dark spots I picked up from the sun this summer! I do wear sunscreen lol but I did miss some days.
I'd try brow gel to help stick any fly aways down but not all through your hair obviously.
I use the INH Quick Slick for flyaways. Love it, and it smells so good.
I wish I had a friend who has so many products and would let me have the stuff she doesn't like 😂😂😂
I’ve tried the byoma hydrating and the cocokind barrier and to me they were very similar so you might not need them both on the spinner at the same time!! 😊

I’m like you with fine hair but with dry ends. I use leave in conditioner sprays and I find the Ouai one way too heavy. My fave leave ins are Brio Geo rosarco milk and good old Pantene. I do agree that the Oribe texture spray is awesome.

I have crazy dry skin and i love the Naturium SPF, but it stings my eyes when i go swimming in salt water, so i cant use it on swimming days. I do love it tho i cant feel it on my skin at all, but i am super dry with eczema 🤷♀️

Coming from a viewer, I don’t think you have to hold on to products you don’t like just to show the item in real life in your videos (speaking to the kosas blush like products). Personally, I would be fine if you just showed the product as a picture in your videos as you spoke about it. For me, I wouldn’t want to hold onto a product that I hate just to show somebody that I hate it you know!?lol That would be weird to do in real life so I don’t think you have to do that in your videos, if you don’t want to of course! Again personally I want products around me that I really love because I feel like negative energy overtime can wear on you. I know for your job it’s different but I think there could be ways you cut the things you don’t like for good and not tug them around like a dead horse. This is all coming from a good place btw 💕
I really wanted to get good results from the Sunday Riley Good Genes but I didn't see any change after using it consistently for two months and I couldn't stand the smell! It smells like spoiled milk to me - so gross!

i was at marshalls the other day, and found a truly matcha face scrub...was gonna buy it for the $12 it was, but......did i NEED it?? and someone had taken a small chunk out of it...after carrying it throughout the store, i put it down...............INSTANT REGRET 😭 have you smelled/tried it!? smells like starbucks matcha latte on your face!!!!
Truly has a six month after opening expiration and they do not seal their products so that product probably went bad already or was about to even if someone didn't touch it, because it had been opened to be smelled 😬

I always wonder how much money was spent when I watch "influencers" declutter.
Please, please, please use a small plastic spatula with creams etc that come in a pot. Every time you put your finger in the cream, you transfer bacteria & dirt from your fingers & nails - even if you think they're clean. If you use the product frequently, you'll end up literally spreading a petri-dish like concoction on your face - which can lead to breakouts & pimples.
But this is even more important with eye creams and with cream eyeshadows - which in a worst case scenario, bad bacteria could lead to sight loss.
It's also not ideal to pass on beauty products that you've put your fingers in. A small spatula would ensure that the product is still in as good a condition as it can be, for the person you pass it on to.

La mer is just Nivea cream that they play music and put under flashing lights. Such a scam.
I use the Sun Bum Texturizing Surf Paste. It's a pomade and I actually use it for both my hair and my eyebrows. No residue. I usually wet my hands first and grab a small amount of the pomade, mix it, and then apply on my head. For eyebrows I just use a spoolie and blend it in with my fingers.
