    • @Akm72
      @Akm72 4 ปีที่แล้ว +222

      @@atlas42185 I just reread the book before seeing this video, that's the only reason I remembered it.
      It went like this; Martinez asked the question and Johanssen just glared at him.
      He then continued with; "'Cause I think I'd be the tastiest," flexing his arm. "Look at that. Good solid muscle there."
      "You're not funny."
      "I'm free-range, you know. Corn-fed. Come on! I thought you liked Mexican!"
      "Not listening." she called back.
      I think those actors could have made that scene work great!

      That part seemed so stupid to me in the book. Does NASA really want to have one crew member survive to return that had to resort to cannibalism vs the entire mission failing and everyone dying? The first isn't really better than the second....

    • @kayyy5
      @kayyy5 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always thought the hint they left in the movie was the scene after they decide to turn the ship around and go back for Mark. There’s a musical montage where they are preparing and you see the crew talking to their loved ones on the video chat. But you don’t see Beck and Johanssen do this. Instead they have a moment when Beck is opening the airlock for the supplies and Johanssen is watching from a window. They smile and wave at each other and Beck has a flirty look on his face. I thought that was to indicate that they are each others loved one.

Idk i just love this scene because they put in the little subtle interactions with Chris and Beth but idk i would have liked to see this in the film. It’s light hearted and funny and touches on the family aspect of the crew (and also humanizes Lewis further as not just a fearless commander but a loving and passionate person who is trying to right what she believes to be her wrong (leaving Mark) and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone else.) And so i just love this scene a lot and every time i watch the movie i mentally put it in there lol

    • @435now
      @435now 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Rockyblack smith If they had left it in, the epologe at the end of the movie would have made a little more sence. It would have required some lead up to a minor plot point, so you see why they cut it, but it could have been done. In the book after the first resupply fails, Watney writes letters to each crew member (in the movie they just present the one he wrote to the Commander) and in his letter to Beck he brings up Beck's and Johannsen's relationship and how they should wait till they are back on earth before starting anything. Thats one criticisim i have of the book is the abrupt ending, and I like that they added the epologe at the end of the movie.

    Makes me wonder who ended up "hot bunking" after they picked up Mark. Unless the movie Hermes has a dedicated sickbay they were effectively three bunks short (The cooling in Mark's bunk died as well.).
    Now Mark took the sickbay/Beck's room full time, so that's taken.
    Beck and Johansen share a room, so hot bunking there would be interesting (oddly enough there are fanfictions on the subject, I am yet to find my brave pills and read one).
    And Lewis is the commander, meaning she cant hot bunk if anyone else, except Mark get a single room.
    Whichever way I do my math, Vogel and Martinez are now hot bunking in Airlock two...
