This ski-jump ramp at the ship's front facilitates short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL)
TCG Anadolu is designed to handle a versatile array of equipment and personnel, including a combination of helicopters, fighters, drones, marine troops, and landing crafts.
Turkish-made military drones have gained significant recognition over the past few years. Turkey wants to further strengthen this technological momentum achieved in the military field.
When exclusively configured for drone operations, Anadolu can accommodate 30 to 50 TB-2 or more advanced TB-3 Bayraktar drones, as well as the turbofan-powered Kızılelma (Red Apple) combat UAV/unmanned fighters.
This capacity positions it to become the world's first drone-only aircraft carrier by the mid-2020s.
TCG Anadolu is also armed with 1 RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) launcher, 2 Phalanx Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS), and 5 Aselsan STOP Remote Controlled Weapon Stations (RCWS) with 25 mm guns.
With the full-scale implementation of TCG Anadolu's carrier capability in 2025, the Turkish Navy will assume the leadership of a new doctrine in naval aviation.

@@Djamonja A lot of it is listening to both for a long time, but for instance at 1:31 he starts getting tired and every few seconds you can hear him trying to catch his breath. At 2:08 and 2:47 his mouth is dry and he takes a moment to get back on track, even smacking his lips a bit. There are also some words he pronounces in ways humans tend to do veeerrrry slightly differently in certain contexts or when tired which robots do the same every time.
The Sedef (Turkey)-Navantia(Spain) consortium won the tender for the amphibious assault ship project of the Turkish Navy. Anadolu used the same design as that of the Spanish ship Juan Carlos I. The Spanish ship design by Navantia was built in Turkey, and the ship's weapon systems were procured by Turkish firms Aselsan and Havelsan.
Turkey and Spain have now talks about a second one but bigger then the Anadolu

“America class lacks STOVL ramp” the one thing I think is wrong in this videos. The U.S. LHD and LHA ships intentionally don’t have them by design. They don’t need them. F-35B’s and Harriers don’t need old tech like ramps.
Then why does the Royal Navy's new carriers have them for the F35B. They add capability beyond a normal flat deck takeoff.
@@aowen2471 no it doesn't. F-35s take off of US LHDs and LHAs just fine without a dopy looking ramp. The QE ships were originally going to have the ramps with a plan to remove them in the future. Doubtful that'll happen now as the MoD can't do anything right.
@@MovieUniversity Didn't say they couldn't just stated that the ramps add capability beyond a flat surface takeoff - this was proved during RN testing with test ramps on land. This was the case with the USMC AV8B vs. RN Harriers. If they don't add capability beyond a flat deck, why do so many carriers (except USMC) that has rolling takeoffs (Russian, Indian, Chinese, RN, etc.) have them - even the Italian's latest carrier Cavour for F35B? So many navy's seem to be making the mistake of extra weight on the bow of a ship, cost of build for, in your opinion, no gain?
I can't find it now, but I previously read the USMC stated the ramps would interfere with Helo ops which would be a valid reason not to have them given the USMC's primary role.
Only Fantasy Fleet Armchair Admirals believed the ramps to be removed at sometime to change to CATOBAR -- the RN has always known they don't have enough people or money to run CATOBAR. I seem to remember the CATOBAR option was for the French build option before they pulled out of the joint development.
Spain, instead of selling ships, transfers technology. We have much left to learn.

@@asahearts1 I think the purpose of a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and an aircraft carrier are exactly the opposite. The purpose of a carrier is to bring as much air power as possible, while UAVs, on the other hand, are designed for reconnaissance, pinpoint strikes, and close air support. I don't see a reason to bring a massive ship to a war zone just to conduct pinpoint strikes; it seems impractical. UAVs can be a part of a carrier air wing, but they shouldn't be the primary component. We're not there yet! It's believed that only 7th-generation airplanes will be fully combat-capable like fighter jets and bombers. The 6th generation is a transitional phase, with the last operated fighter jets incorporating UAVs into the air operations.
@@bogdanshulman8081 There are a couple major assumptions which I think are wrong here. If I lay out some figures it might help clear up one of them.
Gerald Ford Class aircraft carrier
Displacement: 100,000 tons
TCG Anadolu
VTOL configuration displacement: ~25,000 tons
Amphibious Assault Ship displacement: ~27,000 tons
Izumo-class helicopter destroyer
Displacement: 26,000 tons fully loaded, 19,500 tons standard
The Izumo- class destroyer is often likened to an aircraft carrier and serves a similar purpose which cannot *quite* be fulfilled due to Japanese politics. It carries helicopters. It is often called a helicopter-carrier. To say that it is a failure in its role because it doesn't match up to a Gerald Ford would be way off base. Likewise, the TCG Anadolu fills *some* of the niche a carrier does, but using different tools and tactics in mind.
I think drones are also rapidly changing roles, as well. Back in Iraq, just using them to spot artillery or whatever was their major use, but now we're seeing them used as incredibly cheap attack craft, sometimes at ranges which previously would be unthinkable.
Even if we assume the drone technology hasn't quite seated into these new roles, it's still a good idea to have ships like the Andadolu on hand so we can be ready when they do. It's clear which way the wind is blowing, so it's best not to be reactive, but rather proactive.
Finally, I'm forseeing an issue where militaries are unable to protect their very expensive aircraft due to new tactics and weapons systems. Certainly the US Navy would greatly benefit from these drone ships in the South China Sea, considering one of the difficulties in that region is getting assets in safely. The Navy could much more easily afford to lose a lot of drones, or even several of these small drone ships, rather than even one or two superarriers, dozens of aircraft, support craft, and importantly pilots.
