    For Dsub connector on monitor I do use
    Brightness-50
    Sharpness-40
    Color-50
    Contrast-70
    Color temp- warm
    And for HDMI on TV
    Brightness- 50
    Sharpness-10
    Color-45
    Contrast-70
    Color temp-warm
    Backlight- Max
    Color temp- warm
    This is because HDMI cables enhances and gives priority to the sharpness mostly And Overall these settings looks more natural and little bit of enhance kinda hype to it. Btw turn off all the advance picture settings to get rid of input lag during gaming on TV.

    The ones that are terribly named are Brightness and Contrast because they do the opposite of each other. Brightness controls how bright the colour is not how dark or bright the screen is. Contrast actually controls the dark and brightness of the screen. There backwards and everyone mixes this up.

    I bought a 55” LG UHD tv a few weeks ago. Picture was awful at first. I found ignoring the fetch box as a set top box made a huge difference.
    But the massive change came after turning off true motion and energy saving.
    I now have a great picture depending on room lighting and live broadcast quality, which varies considerably.
    My dvd and blue ray disc contents are brilliant
    Mac frustrated

    • @ArcanePath360
      @ArcanePath360 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It takes a while to go through all the sub menus and find the stuff that makes the TV picture so much better on LG. I suggest finding the ones that turn on local dimming and setting to strong (if you have it), then mess around with the gamma and blacks to get deeper blacks. You'll notice darker scenes won't look so washed out. Different combinations of black levels work differently with gamma settings and you have to find one where the blacks are deeper but not so deep as to loose shadow detail. The Batman films are good for calibrating.

    Your very first mistake is keeping the tv on ‘Dynamic’ mode. This is the worst mode as it makes the tv far too bright (its used for when the tv is in a showroom so that it looks impressive). The picture needs to be put into ‘Movie Mode’ to get a more natural looking picture.

    Thanks, I now realise contrast and colour were set too high. What should I do with dynamic contrast as it seems to make a big difference to contrast?

    • @which
      @which  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beck0797 Dynamic contrast can make a difference but it is very brand specific. As we don't know what TV you have it is hard to help.
      Interestingly, we were playing a PS4 game yesterday and it specifically instructed me to turn off dynamic contrast as it can create unnatural looking colours and brightness levels.
      Here's some stuff on what exactly Dynamic contrast is:
      A standard contrast ratio is the difference between the darkest blacks and the brightest whites that a TV can display. Dynamic contrast involves the TV comparing the brightest and darkest colours frame-by-frame and then adjusting the contrast ratio accordingly.
      All the big brands have their own way of dealing with contrast. This can often involve some kind of dimming technology that dims the local area in response to a scene that is relatively dark. Some systems are better than others, however, as some TVs can struggle with changing light conditions leading to stuttering and visual glitches. Many TVs also struggle with shifts to very bright scenes, for example - it's something we always look for in our testing.
      So, just a TV having dynamic contrast does not mean it will automatically improve the picture. In fact, this could be true for almost every picture 'enhancement' feature, which is why we encourage people to turn them off and then experiment with turning different ones back on again to see which are to their tastes.

    Please Stop with all the 'Picture Modes'!?!. Regardless of what your watching? it should be set from the factory Default to be the most 'Natural' picture it can be? the way it was meant to be seen?.
    I don't want to have to Manually switch modes, ever!. I can't understand why all these modes even exist??? and I'm sure if you asked anyone? the Vast Majority would agree it should always look the way it was meant to look by the creators? Not more Reds(Warm) or more Blues(Cool) etc.??? why is that even there!?! LOL!...
    Bottom Line is I hope this will soon all become 'All Automatic' somehow? and Please always strive towards Natural? the way the Movie, Game etc. was meant to be seen by its creator ;-)
