I hate this is happening to California.I do wish Western NC and East Tennessee would have gotten the coverage this has gotten.We have lost 100+ lives confirmed and some missing bodies will never be found. Seems we've been forgotten.There are still people living in tents and campers in freezing temperatures.
That is the truth, I live in the very northernmost county in NC, Ashe county, and I'm pretty sure there are way way more than 100 souls that have been lost due to the flooding from Hurricane Helene!!!
Unfortunately look who is in office. California supports our dementia ridden President. North Carolina and Tennessee don’t. They are so politically motivated it’s sickening. Wake up America, the left are the dictators and fascists. They don’t want to work with anybody that disagrees with them. It’s not all the left, just the far left that the rest of the party is letting run them. I feel sorry that the middle of the road democrats are being blackballed and thrown out of the party. I saw coverage of NC for weeks and it IS sad that it’s not being covered as much anymore. I’m sure it would help donations to those communities if coverage continued. Totally agree with that!
LA is still on fire and people are still dying so of course the news is still covering it. This isn’t a 24 hour storm and hurricane, it’s been 8 days of destructive winds and fire. Both are historic events in their own right, this one is still unfolding.
OK, a couple of things I have to say. As a fifth generation born and raised California. I live in Northern California not only has our primary home insurance and not renewed, but we also have a few rentals and none of them have been renewed either and currently cannot find a company that will renew them in California. With that being said our primary home, we have lived in for over 35 years and have never filed a claim. In fact, we’ve never filed a claim. On any of them. We also have a cabin in the mountains that went through the Dixie fire and if you remember the Dixie fire was over 1,000,000 acres. I am pleased to say our cabin was not touched but with that being said, we did everything right according to the firefighters we had no trees or grass or plants within 10 feet of our cabin and we kept water going 24/7 when there is no snow, to keep our area green and our water comes directly out of the ground. It’s all gravity flow. We don’t have a well or electricity. We use propane and solar only. And where our cabin is, there is literally one way in and one way out only because of the mountains, which would be Mount Lassen a Volcano. As far as water goes, Southern California was a desert before they start developing it and in northern California we have two of the biggest reservoirs in the state Shasta and Oroville. And I can tell you a lot of the water from both of them goes to Southern California with that being said I know for a fact that Shasta is at full capacity and Oroville is getting close. The way the state has been run for the last 30 years is such a shame and that is the reason we just bought property in Wyoming. It will be very sad to leave a state that we love, but we do not love the politics and if this state is gonna make it, something’s gonna have to change.
I have heard President Trump mention the water coming from way up north, Canada north, was rerouted to the ocean. I have heard this as well. Who, in their stupid thinking would do something so silly? Nobody should own water rights.

I left SoCal in 1979 after over 20 years there. I returned for a weekend last summer - just long enough to attend my 50th h.s. Reunion. I didn’t even go to the beach. The state has been totally ruined by the leftist politics and I don’t have any desire to spend time or money there!

I am a retired cop. I spent 32 years on the job and all of it was in hands on field work. Most of my time was on our swat team. We were adding females to the teams during my time there. Two of the females could do pretty much anything physically the men could do in practical testing. The other six or so I worked with couldn't. They just didn't have the physical size and strength to do it. Think dragging a downed officer out of a house. I was 205lbs in gym clothes and weighed over 280lbs with a heavy vest and full tactical gear. I knew if I went down those 6 women couldn't help me. Loved them all but its a situation. None of the men I worked with would have been allowed to not be able to handle that responsibility. They would have been removed from the teams. Interestingly, no cop I know gave a damn if the officer next to them was a different race or sex, gay or straight as long as they could do the job.
Being told I would not be able to carry a child to term, was the worst thing. I switched doctor and delivered my two children less than two years apart. So grateful, and I loved being pregnant. Never hid my size. Our first was10lbs. 3 oz’s.(our son 48 years ago today). Our second 9lbs 10oz’s. ( our daughter 46years ago). I could not have any more , and had difficulties through out both pregnancies, would not change it for the world. You are beautiful and your body is making another human. It is a beautiful thing for women to be able to do. God is good!!!💞👶
Amen! To God be the glory! I once heard a female OBGYN say that she hated hearing her patients say they were told they were infertile. She says as long as you still have all of your reproductive organs, there is always a chance and that is so right!
As a man age 62. God gave women this beautiful glow when pregnant. And it's when she waits on the arrival of her baby.
And her husband wants to keep her positive and knowing that he loves her.
I'm coming up to 36 years married and I am blessed by my wife and how we did with our kids.

I split firewood, haul brush and plant trees and anything else asked to do. This does not mean I want to be a man. I just like physical work. This world has gone ass backwards.b

I’ve had a house fire, lost a home in an earthquake, house damage due to microburst, evacuated for other fires….i do not care how much money you have….it’s devastating. Art, photos, family heirlooms….heartbreaking.
The lack of compassion and humanity, that has surfaced in a big way since COVID, is so sad and almost scary. We need to rebuild those things in our society.

My daughter in law is a 5th grade teacher, says she sees this all the time, young kids dressing as the opposite sex and parents insisting they call them by their new name they choose to be called. She hates it but is mandated to do it, she also said a prayer at beginning of her classes until one of the kids said something about it to their parents and so she was called out and told she could no longer do that. So sad for our children. She says a silent prayer herself before she starts her classes.
This is so sad. Prayers for your daughter as she travels this road.
Hold on. She has a constitutional right to have a silent prayer to start off her day. She shouldn't accept than ban from the school. She should consult an attorney.

One thing that happened in WNC is to people who rented property prior to the floods and mud slides, FEMA does not pay you for a home because you did not own one, available homes for rent were lost in the floods and you have no where to go. Thanks to the kindness of fellow Americans, campers, tiny homes are slowly replacing tents in the cold and snow. These people lost family, cars, homes, jobs and all their belongings. Their jobs may or may not come back, roads are gone and getting food, propane, medicine is constant. Some owe mortgages others do not have the credit to buy a home. Small towns are gone. I pray for these people nightly and wish someone would give them the attention that those impacted by the fires are getting.
Melissa, when I was pregnant with all three of my children, I always felt like I looked horrible. But when I look back on pictures, I realize how radiant women look when they’re pregnant. We look at ourselves differently when we’re in the situation, but trust me, when you look back on it years to come, you’re going to see just how beautiful you really are. You can do this girl I’ve watched you build a house with the man of your dreams, you can do this.

I was in a big evacuation in Fort McMurray Alberta Canada in 2016. The circuits froze for emergency because of exploding gas stations, and power lines until they could shut down the grid. Yes, out telephones/ cell phones crossed over with the RCMP(our police) Firefighters/ police could not get through in the emergencies and fires building up around us burning down. The only thing that saved out lives that day was the bomb sirens to get out and auxiliary (volunteer police) stood in the middle of the roads with a whistle and their voices, cause most of them we could not even see because of the black smoke. Big fires like that, electricity gets shut down. They have to for your own safety. Even our firefighters had to put down a Canadian flag for the helicopters to get them out. Wildfires are surreal, and happen very fast, you just get out and do not have time to think. We had one fatality in that fire, our firefighters were the bomb for us residents as well as our policing. So grateful to them, while their houses also burned down around them.

My daughter is in the medical field. She says theres not enough people going into medicine to help out. She says drs, nurses etc ars leaving medical field due to regs, rules, BS from insurance companies etc etc!!!

California's no competition laws in insurance was also a contributing force behind the cancellations. Removing dams also increased the waterflow into the bay area to help dilute the effluent from the outdated and inadequate waste treatment plants. The salmon smolts and the smelt populations had no problems surviving before the introduction of the voracious and invasive bass for sport fishing. Environmental restrictions on forestry usage and maintenance. Prevention of removal of brush from private and public lands or making fire breaks. All poor decisions by an increasingly dictatorial government.

2. We now live in Idaho but lived in Northern California for 15+ years. We were in the area of the Carr fire. During the evacuations, we did have the guard there not letting people in. Without a doubt this should be happening in LA. My mother in law and many others were affected by their insurance dropping people. This is in northern California. It's horrible.
3. We were foster/adopt parents and it horrified me to hear that they are making people do that training. If they did that when we were going through classes, we wouldn't have our two children today! We would not have done that and it's so sad. To be very honest, after going through the foster/adoption process, we realized how much the welfare of the kids is lost. It can and should be better.
4. We were late in life parents through fost/adopt. I was 41 when we got our first child. 42 for our second. I thank God every day for the gift of life that their bio mom gave them. I also thank God for the privilege to homeschool them.

I am a mother of a trans... and they were home-schooled, raised a conservative, and in a 2 parent Christian home. they are now so changed.. brainwashed. They are 21 and we now have no say... but they know we don't and wont support this financially. any of the things that they want .. so hormones are it for now...
I love my child. But this wasn't a case of them showing signs at all. And has been a scary ride. One thing I have seen and with talking with 100's of parents of trans I found about 90% are on the spectrum. My child has high functioning asburgers.
We have been told by our child that they blame us for their fear, for voting in favor of the country over their fear. Accused that we don't love them or care... not true.. but they have become self absorb, and refuse to see the bigger picture any more. They did once apon a time.

They have never had a job,

And there is nothing we now can do about any of it because they are legally an adult. Pray for us, and this new world we are being forced into

Girl! Listen..... My daughter has a rare genetic disorder so we had a difficult time getting a diagnosis... Anyway, we were at the geneticist's having her 1st genetic consultation, she was a baby, maybe 7-9 months old, so they were doing her eval and they started at her head. When she was describing her nose she called it bulbous. 😳 A baby's nose! When I said excuse me? She said "oh it's just a descriptive word we use for a larger nose, but it's ok, she has your nose" and turned back to my baby to do more of her thing. I was stunned, then pissed! Don't use that word, you are NOT bulbous! You've created a life and you are cooking him/her. It's a beautiful thing and you are a beautiful person, inside and out! Your whole family is! 💕

People are ashamed to see a mother nursing. Once at work, I mentioned nursing my children, and a coworker said her husband thought it was barbaric. When my husband and I were at an auction, cows, I nursed my son with a blanket over me. The Amish man sitting next to us laughed, because my son was a noisy eater. We know why people today have these bad attitudes. "people will be unthankful, fierce, lovers of money, disobedient, etc."
I nursed all 4 of my children and all 3 of my husband's believed in mothers nursing their babies. No shame 😊

Our electrical service was turned off for a while, as it should be, so that we don't risk fires starting out here. This week, most of the grid power is now restored. Melissa I suffer from restless legs and when it gets real bad I've found a warm bath and some muscle massage really help me relax and sleep. Oh my masseuse is my husband. He just gets better with age . We're in our 70s and love just gets better.❤

I was curious why insurance companies had pulled out of California. There is an article on the Mises website titled; Climate Change Is Not the Cause of California’s “Insurance Crisis”. It explains why gov't rules on insurance companies in the state essentially forced them to leave.
Love your family you are so down to earth. The people in charge of California are failing their people.
Just this morning it was reported that these poor people will have to continue paying their mortgages. Not all these people have fire insurance because they were dropped. I don't care who you are I feel so sorry for all. P.S. Melissa you are beautiful!
