Im 37 going on 38. Dirt bike incident at age 27 left me paralyzed from the chest down T6-T7. Year later, i was on a 4 wheeler, 2 years later we put training wheels on my 250. Luckily i was a bachelor, so i didnt let down a whole family. Wheelchair life sucks, but ive made the best of it. Not a thing i cant do except for walking. If you're afraid of dying, than you havent truly lived a day

i’m fourteen and i’ve been racing for the past couple years and i seen 3 people get paralyzed already. this past summer i was at a pro national riding the amateur day and i came over a jump and hit a kicker and side ways which launch me off of me bike and i landed head first into a bank which ended with me being knocked out with a snapped neck but lucky i’m not paralyzed and i’ll be back on the bike next season

As a 28 year old man that grew up in the inner city of Philadelphia there is something different about these types of men. There’s city tough and then there’s country tough and JB is the epitome of country tough. Nothing but the highest amount of respect for these men and the work they put in day in and day out without notice. “Ranching is an art with no audience that will never know you existed” God bless cowboys

Thank you, Dale, for bringing your friend to us in this interview. It is such a relief to see JB looking so healthy and sounding so "JB." On a side note, I found the discussion of how much effort JB puts into working his bulls fascinating. I'm a rodeo fan but have no real contact with that culture. Even though I know the work that goes into training horses and stockdogs, I had no idea how much effort goes into prepping bucking bulls. I have a feeling JB is as exceptional in how he does that as he was in riding bulls. JB style is above and beyond.

Dale....thank you so very much for this podcast. I enjoyed JB's explaining the background on the training of the bulls. JB's knowledge of how the bull will buck explains a great about the animals themselves and how a person gets them to the place where they (the bulls) are as much a professional as the rider. Growing up in the era of Shoulders, Mahan, Freckles, Tibbs, Whatley, etc.....I had already heard "stories"...heck...watched some of the stories in the making. And some of them were "juicy". The other thing that came out of this was the incredible work ethic of JB (and yourself) had/have. Then there's the humbleness and the appreciation for the fan base. Yeah......true professional in soooooo many ways. Anyhow....thanks again.

I actually had this shoulder surgery 3 years ago, the laterjet procedure where they cut the coracoid process off and screw it into the front of the joint. I would say that it is pretty uncomfortable and the pain does linger a bit but that shoulder will hold up forsure. its been 3 years and ive competed since then and have no problems! good luck on your surgery and quick recovery!

You know, coming from Europe - I watched Bull Riding for a long ass time. Then started listening to your podcast, followed JB into the PCRA and decided to ride myself. Too old to take it serious and, even thought EVERYONE said you are one dumb ass - I did it, almost broke my back and could not walk for three days but - never felt more alive. Thank you Dale, thank you JB.

I've had surgery on my spine and shoulders and hips at 46.. needing another spine fusion but the worst pain is shoulder surgery.. that bad boy hurt and still occasionally hurts especially when the winter months come here in the northern part of the midwest.. Dale if its your right shoulder and you're right handed it's a real pain.. you cannot do anything.. the doctor is going to take a peace of your hip bone and screw in there... your stomach and sides are going to turn so purple that its almost black and same goes with your shoulder and pec area.. good luck, been there twice..

The hookin Tarbaby was referring to at the David Bailey Rodeo in Poteau, Okla was nothing short of violent and he just shook it off when most guys would seek counseling. I knew then we both had a rodeo problem. Good job guys.

I could listen to you guys tell stories all day everyday..That's how I grew up watching or being around the older ppl talk about life experiences you learn more from that than any book imo. I am going to be 44 in a couple weeks these young punks nowadays think they know it all and the disrespect they show their parents or ppl in general disgusting.. My old man had a cure for smart assism the right cross and when you woke back up you had a whole different attitude on life. The only thing you truly can't beat in this life is time you don't even have a chance when your times up it's up all you can do is recognize it and find a way to move past it.
