i'm still shocked she didn't win, or at least medal. she was consistent, didn't overdo it with turns that don't fit the choreo, floated in her leaps, and perfectly embodied the light airiness of the variation. to me, she had the most standout performance in both the initial and final rounds.
@@dannyjq yeahh i mean if it were a regular comp she probably has with this variation but its very rare that kids place top 3 at finals in their age division since only so many people are selected to compete unlike during the year
@@samicook i'm making a judgment based on what i observed while watching every round of yagp finals. it's my personal opinion that she was the best out of all the competitors. trust me, i'm making an informed statement, i didn't just watch this 1 video and say whatever. also she literally won gold at ygp japan, one of the most competitive semifinals for yagp, so it's not like she's just any random competitor who barely made the cut.
She didn’t get YGP at her regional, i think she got 1st at regional and all of the top 3 final winners in every categories got the highest placement at regional. Which sucks bc the Japan and Korea and Brazil regionals are way more competitive than Australia or some states in the US. Just as the Junior division too, some incredible dancers were left out of the top 3 and 12 tho they did even better than some of the top 3 final winners bc of their placement at regional. Most of them are Japanese btw
Far and away, the most fabulous performance at YAGP. Kohina was effervescent, emotive, technically precise, and charismatic. And this was the lovliest performance of this variation that I've seen from anyone - even more seasoned ballerinas. Kohina should have won first place - not sure what that is for YAGP. I see she did finish in the top 12 and was awarded scholarship. Does anyone know where/with what company Kohina will next be dancing ?
